August 2013 Roll Call
T-14 days! Started my liver shrink diet this morning. Had an awesome protein shake from almond milk and natural peanut butter this morning. Just scarfed down a bowl of green beans and drank a muscle milk for lunch. I know I can be disciplined for these two weeks, but a few prayers here and there for me wouldn't be denied...

protein shakes
After doing some research, I ordered an unflavored whey Protein product online. http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0014KYXN0/ref=oh_details_o00_s00_i00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 I hope to use this to add to smoothies or drinks to meet my daily protein requirements. I am leery of those products with artificial flavors or sweeteners. I know "unflavored" doesn't mean "tasteless", but the reviews on this product were pretty good.

Help--Work Lunch at Chinese Restaurant!
I'm probably too late to chime in, but I'd suggest chicken and snow peas or pepper steak, You can pick around the veggies if you need to...

Cigna gone crazy?
My final ppwk was submitted to Cigna on June 28th. I got the approval on July 16th. I was hoping to get a July surgery date, but ces` la vie! I'm on for August 20th. Good luck everyone!!

Anyone else getting sleeved in August?
I've really misbehaved with allowing myself to eat everything and anything I won't touch after the surgery. I can only pray that I am as disciplined as I hope to be afterward.

Am I seriously removing 80% of my stomach in 5 days...yep!
Good luck to you!! Will be anxiously waiting to hear how you're doing!!

August 20th, anyone?
Great to hear from you, Maggie!! "AMEN" to the end of the diet roller coaster. Keep me posted on your journey!

What do you do when your coordinator is avoiding you?
Hang in there, girl! It was frustrating to call my advocate and have to leave her a voicemail. Especially when her greeting says "... leave ONE message and I'll get back to you as soon as I can", in a bit of a snooty tone of voice. There were several days I'd wanted to talk to her because I felt like someone had dropped the ball somewhere because of how long it was taking. She started calling me back while I was indisposed and she called like 8 times and sent me two emails that I needed another weigh in. If your doctor's practice is anything like mine, they are completely inundated with people and constantly busy. Don't lose heart!!! It'll be your turn soon to have their undivided attention and things will start moving along faster. Maybe even faster than you'd like!

Cigna gone crazy?
My original ppwk was submitted June 14th. Got denial on June 26th due to "only 2 months weight loss attempt". Submitted new claim with 2 more weights on June 28th and still waiting for response. I've never been very good with patience. I just did the math and realize my wait has only been 11 days now, when it was 12 days on the first claim. I'd have sworn I've been waiting longer. smh...

Has Anyone Managed To Keep Surgery Completely Private?
I ADORED her on Gilmore Girls. I'm so happy she's finally getting attention, but those of us who loved GG can say "we knew her when"! In answer to your original post, it wasn't until I went to one of the support group meetings that I even second guessed my having told people my plan. It never occurred to me that I'd be judged for my decision. I'm so naive I'm not going to wear a t-shirt saying "Ask me about my WLS", but I won't shy away from questions. I fought to get healthy for too long. I find nothing to be embarrassed about in my need for help. I am a victim of my geneology and crappy metabolism. That's my story and I'm sticking to it

Post op 3rd day and excruciating pain when swallow even water
Ok, when I read what the nurse told you, only one word came to mind. It starts with a capitol B!! lol I'm so sorry you're having such a bad experience. In your position, I'd call the doc and run your issues past him, just to be on the safe side. Truly hope you do feel better soon!

what do you think
Absolutely adore the outfit! Wish I could wear heels. Were you able to wear them before WLS? I only wore them for special occassions when I was younger, so my feet never became accustomed to them. I fear I'll never be able to wear them...

Cigna gone crazy?
Good luck! I was sure I'd hear something Monday or Tuesday. Now I'm bordering on severe impatience

Cigna gone crazy?
Well crap. I tried to delete a post when I found I could edit my original post.

Cigna gone crazy?
Mine's the same. I sent in a weight for March, April, and May. I'm guessing the Mar-Apr was month 1 and Apr-May was month 2 because they made me weigh again in June. I'm GRRrrr'ing right there with you, I'm trying to squeeze in for August, too. Will keep my fingers crossed for ya! What also stinks is that they were a lot quicker to deny my original claim than they're taking now. I'm frustrated!

Average loss with the sleeve is 60% of excess weight?!?!
I don't recall the percentage of excess weight doc said she'd expect me to lose, but I do recall her saying that the results of the sleeve are proving to be only 5% lower than the gastric bypass. That number was insignificant to me when taking into consideration the negative side effects of the GB. To be clear... a pound is a pound is a pound. A pound of muscle weighs the same as a pound of fat. The difference comes in the area they occupy. A pound of muscle takes up a lot less space than a pound of fat. So, when you exercise your butt off and don't lose much weight, the difference should be felt in the way yours clothes fit.

yeah..finally confirmed my surgery date
Excellent!! Good luck and keep us posted

Impatiently waiting
Right there with ya! Final ppwk sent to insurance on June 28th. I'm sure the holiday put everyone behind, but I'm miserable with anticipation!
