  1. Well I am sitting in my Hospital bed as I type!! I had the sleeve at around 10:30 am today with my Dr here in Mexico and I want to just say how truly great of an experience I have had here... First the trip acroos the boarder was get and the hospital was maybe 10 mins across. Very clean, they are renovating but it's still very clean. The lab work went great, I am a Medical laboratory technician and I started out as a Phlebotomist so I know all about drawing blood the lady here gets a A++++!!!! Didn't even feel the needle go in!! The nurse, gave me the IV and hit it perfect the first try, every time I've had an IV in the states it's been hell and they took 4-5 times poking me, but not this lady!! The Dr himself.... Wonderful does not even start to describe him, he is amazing and so is his assistant Dr! Great Great Great!!! Still not enough but it'll have to do. The procedure, must have went great bc I was up and walking ASAP!! I was ready to walk but they wouldn't let me at first, but buddy it didn't take long and I've been making laps around the halls! Dr said I was doing super well and beyond his expectations!! The assistant we started out with this morning is totally the best!!!! She will be back in the am and I glad bc she has literally been wonderful!!!! No pain, no hunger, nothing but energy!!!!! This describes my feelings best! Seriously proud and extremely happy!!! I would do this 1000 times over!!!! And nope, I'm not asking for pain mess!! Can't wait to get home to see my kiddos and start my new wonderful journey in life!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  2. That should say 3 week liquid diet not 2 week!! Guess I should learn to proof read
  3. Headed out tomorrow for our long trip... Surgery is Saturday the 13th!!!! I do believe I'm overly excited and more than ready to start this wonderful new journey in life! I get a little nervous when I have to much time to think but I know everything will be fine. My main concern is my kids, especially my 4 year old bc I have never left her anywhere, she wants to go with me Another concern is my weight, I have been on a two week liquid diet and I haven't list weight, the first week I actually gained some but I did loose that back to original weight. I haven't cheated and I've only had what is on my list... Why would I not loose any, this worried me enough I had bloodwork done, everything came back fine. They checked for fatty liver, thyroid, cbc, all the basics.. I was glad to hear my liver came back good so maybe the non weigh loss wont be a major issue!?!?! Thanks for taking time to read my blabber jabber
  4. I researched the Dr's not the area, I felt Dr Alvarez was the best fit for me, and it's my opinion... He fits what type of surgeon I want and whom I will recommend! I agree that there should be no bashing of the areas, it is immature and uncalled for and I just wanted it to be known that it started with someone talking about PN first. I googled the areas only after this person posted it was scary and I guess they googled the wrong place lol cause I found nothing, except its a quiet little town and that they love taking siestas lol
  5. Here is the original post that started the bashing of Tijuana... This was NOT written by me!! "I was thinking about going to Tijuana because when I googled Piedro Nagras the results were scary. Also, how long did you have to stay in the hospital and in the hotel and what were the facilities like? Thank you for any advice!" It goes both ways, I am going to Piedro Nagras and personally I did google it and found nothing scary at all.I also googled several other areas and found recent things going on and warnings so its kinda one of those things... To each their own... Opinions are like bungholes everybody has one... PeAcE!
  6. No look back in this thread, someone was downing the area where Dr. Alvarez is first, I think it was just a get you back post.
  7. My pre op diet is liquid only... I didn't cheat yesterday but I did eat a few pieces of salmon Nigeri (spell?) no rice just the raw salmon so I think it'll be ok... High in protein!
  8. My appt is July 13th with Dr. Alvarez, we are driving 15+ hours to Eagle Pass, my total is $8700, paid the $1000 deposit so upon arrival I will owe $7700.00 as far as I know there is no discount for driving to Eagle Pass because i am paying the regular price. They have two pickup places one in San Antonio and one in Eagle Pass. Hope this helps! Good Luck!
  9. I went to my dr here in town and had blood work done to check everything possible, it all came back good. He also done a lung test but it was just me breathing into this tube and that was good as well. I haven't done EKG because I had one a few years ago plus he listened to me really good. I suggest going to your dr and just having a few tests run. My dr here in town is completely happy and onboard with my surgery I'm having in Mexico with Dr Alvarez!! I'm scheduled for July 13th! I'm not going by myself and personally I wouldn't but I've read where others went alone and all was fine. As far as a nutritionist goes I have a friend that just finished school so I'm going to have her help me out and I'm going to be getting a personal trainer (friend of mine) to come to my house and help me when I am able. Good luck with everything!!!!
  10. My pre op diet is very minimal like broth, and slim fast, decaf coffee, sugar free jello. I don't have a dietitian or nut, I did email my contact, she didn't seem too worried about the weight gain. I'm having surgery in Mexico and its a 15 hour drive for us, I don't want to get there and them not be able to do it that would be devastating!!
  11. Help... Sorry y'all but I'm panicked a little.. I started my 2 week liquid diet I was 340 when I started and I've been eating "drinking" only what is on my list and I did start exercising, well I decided to weigh today and I've gained weight?!?! I'm at 352.. That's 12 lbs!! How could this have happened? I'm keeping my calories 1000 or less.. Please let me know if this has happened to anyone and how did you take care of it.. My sleeve date is July 13. I did start my liquid diet early.
  12. I understand lol I just haven't quite figured out how to find anything on a persons profile however I am using the app on my iPhone so maybe that's why... Thanks
  13. Also I should throw this in the pot... I'm having my sleeve in Mexico so we also have a nice long drive bc I'm not about to fly! We are...oh... 15 hours from our destination!!
  14. Wow...Wow...Wow... You sound like me!! I'm actually scheduled for July 13th and my husband has yet to say anything to me but.. I'm not sure why your doing this!! Really, well I'm 340 lbs why am I doing this because I'm fat and sad about it!! I have three kids, my youngest is 4 1/2 years old, there three more reasons I'm doing this... My mother is negative so I don't have her to talk to, my husband has no worries in the world (or at least I don't see the worry in him) I worry about everything and I mean everything!! Also in the midst of this I have went back to much longer hours at work so my laundry is so backed up it looks like two mountains, the trash has to be carried out every single day bc I'm making everyone use paper plates, bowls, cups, forks and spoons lol and TV dinners!!! Bad mom...bad bad mom!! He works long hours as well so nope he does nothing...nada dang thing. So on top of having ZERO people to talk to and support me I also have a messy house to worry about!! Oh I could go on and on!!
  15. Lol well I haven't quite figured this out yet I guess, plus I am using the app. Thank you for sharing and congrats!!!
  16. May I ask your beginning weight?
  17. The U.S. alert cited violence associated with drug trafficking in Tijuana, Ciudad Juárez, Chihuahua, Durango, Monterrey, San Luis Potosí, Mazatlán, Nogales, Puerto Peñasco, Matamoros, Nuevo Laredo, Reynosa, Tampico, Zacatecas, Aguascalientes, Manzanillo, Acapulco, Morelia and Nayarit, among others. This was apart of a long article but just wanted to point out Piedras Negras is not listed. I realize it says among others so Piedras Negras could be one of the others but Tijuana is listed at the top. It's not going to really matter, it's basically all the same, I decided on Dr. Alvarez because of all the research I've done on the different doctors, I've researched for over a year before deciding, and I've spoke with past patients of Dr. Alvarez and I feel he is extremely qualified. I've heard noting but great things from each one of the 6 patients of his that I contacted. He has a fb page where you can go and everyone I contacted was willing to talk to me, I even talked to two people that live less than 20 miles from me that went to him. I think your best bet is to research the Doctor first, then if you want you can research the area but you will find its all Mexico so it's not really going to be any different.
  18. I was asked today if I'm scared of dying??? WHAT?!?! No I'm not at all or at least I wasn't till you asked!! Lol I know it's a major surgery and I'm going to Mexico to have it but that certainly doesn't mean death... I honestly haven't thought about it until now, I do have three kids, one under 5 so maybe I do need to put together a will of some sorts I really don't know... Do y'all think that's necessary?
  19. That y'all for the replies! I was beginning to think I was the only one on here that is using Dr. Alvarez and to be honest I couldn't figure out why! I haven't even been there yet but they already keep in touch and Susan seems to be very kind and helpful!! In my paperwork I read he only does 2 surgeries a day but mine is on a Saturday so maybe he only does 2 on the weekends. I'm very excited and oddly enough I'm not a bit nervous about going to Mexico at all! The only thing I'm nervous about it the long trip home and of course I'm worried about the outcome! I have a lot to loose and I'm noticing a lot of slower weight loss on here than what I've seen with the patients I've been in contact with by phone/email.. I hope it's just the fact they don't have as much to loose. I'm 5 ft 8 in tall and 340 lbs (plan to drop a few lbs before surgery) I would like to loose a total of 180-200lbs. But I hope to drop over 100 lbs within the first 5-6 months!!
  20. I am interested in hearing from patients of Dr. Alvarez, I'd like to hear about your experiences before, durning and after... Also anything else you might think would be helpful.. I am scheduled for 7/13 and also wonder if the other patient scheduled for the same day as me happens to be on here from my understanding he only does two sleeves per day.. TIA
