  1. So I am just getting started, hoping for an August surgery date. I have all if my surgeon's pre-requisites scheduled. I have a lot to lose. I weighed my highest ever yesterday at the surgeons office. 406. I have never been one for exercise. I don't really like outdoorsy stuff and the skinny people at the gym intimidate me. I thought it was in my head until someone that I work with posted on Facebook that looking at all the fatties in the gym made her sick to her stomach and they should have their own gym. Then I have heard of gyms that won't let you work out on their equipment if you are too heavy. I know that I need to exercise to be successful but this gym thing is stressing me out. :/.
  2. Thanks for answering. I should have asked him but I was kind of terrified and had a thousand other questions. I'm lucky that my insurance isn't really requiring anything other than the psych visit and a letter from the surgeon saying that he feels it is medically necessary. The other things I have to do are required by the surgeon. He is requiring a sleep study, upper GI, nutrition classes and an exercise eval.
  3. Just curious if anybody was required to do a sleep study? I had my first consult with my surgeon today and he ordered a sleep study because I haven't had one before. The thing is, I'm pretty sure I do have apnea. If I get an apnea diagnosis is this going to slow down the surgery process? Right now he said we are looking at early August.
  4. Welcome! I haven't posted much but I have learned so much here. I'm about to walk out the door now for my seminar. I'm so excited.
  5. I am in North Carolina. Dr. Fernandez (Fuzz) at Baptist will be doing my surgery. My insurance doesn't require anything other than a psych exam and the doctor saying that I am a good candidate.
  6. Hi! I am so happy to have found this place. I am just getting started. I have a seminar on May 22 and my first surgeon appointment is May 30. I am so terrified and excited at the same time. I have a long way to go but I'm ready. I'm at my highest weight ever right now. Around 390, but I have been here before. I lost almost 100 pounds on Atkins in 2010 and got pregnant and gained it all back. Weight has been a lifelong struggle for me an I'm ready for a permanent solution.
