Hi all Was wondering if any of you hav surgery in UK and were able to negotiate the price with the surgeon. I know this sounds odd but I have read in another forum that one lady managed to reduce her price by aprox £2k? Just wondered if this was realistic? X

I am in Liverpool - feel like that is quite close to London as most of the people on here are from America. I am pre sleeve just researching at the moment. Just wondered how you are finding it? Sorry I am of no more use than that x x

Hi, I am wondering if any of you have regrets about having your sleeve surgery? I am researching the gastric sleeve. I have had a gastric band - which has now been removed and was a disaster from start to finish! I wish I would have researched the gastric band before getting it fitted so I am being very thorough now. Please be as honest as possible X x

My BMI is 30. I have had a gastric band which was a complete disaster and made me seriously ill I got my BMI down to about 24 than I have bounced back to 30. I try very hard to keep my weight down. My weight has been stable for little while but I need to get back down to having a healthy BMI x

Thank you for your advice. I never considered the gall bladder issues but that is one I will bring up with the surgeon for sure! I have thick hair too so as long as it does not fall out in one patch I will be prepared to take that. How quickly did you resume your normal activities like being back at work and working out - if that was something you did pre- sleeve? X

Wow so much help from you both there! I am totally with you on the "your not that big" comment. I am in the gym all the time and eat healthy foods- just too much! Obesity is a major issue in my family and I want to avoid it before I get too big and have major health problems. Because I don't have major health problems now I did not want to have the sleeve and then have health problems as a result if the sleeve. My life was miserable with the gastric band I was ill more or less 3 months post op and has it removed after 12 months because it had slipped x

I am in the UK. My start weight is the same as yours. I have watched lots of you tube videos about the surgery and people experience and obviously being on here is a massive help. I am seeing a surgeon next week to ask him some more questions. Is there anything that you would suggest I ask? X

Where did u get the research an studies from? Every time the topic comes up he just says "no way". How are you getting on with your weight loss. I presume it is slower with a lower bmi? How are things with the food?

I really need to convince my boyfriend and family that this is my choice and have them support me. I have no support from them at all. I know it is because they are scared of the risks and complications that go with this surgery. Does anyone have any tips on how to approach this?

How are you managing to keep it a secret?

I can't seem do so if on my iPhone. I have no idea why? I think I have made the decision that I want the sleeve. Just now need to convince my partner who held my hand whilst I went through all the illness with the band. I think for someone who has not struggled with their weight this seems like a crazy idea.

I have researched this a lot more than the band. Suppose I was far too trusting in the medical profession then. How do I read your profile. I am new to this can't seem to find it

My boyfriend is really against it because I was so ill with my band and nearly lost my stomach. The main problem was that the company I had my initial surgery with were unprofessional and left me to sort out the slippage all by myself. Have you lost all of your weight now? Do you have problems with reflux?
