  1. That is an amazing loss! Congratulations! :-)
  2. Ugh! While yesterday was great - today was very difficult. Lot's of dry heaves, extremely tired, and sharp pains behind my breast bone. Hopefully tomorrow will be better.

  4. Hi everyone! Well, surgery was yesterday at 11:00 am and I was home by 3:00 the next day (today). Waking up from surgery was the hardest part - I was very nauseous when I woke up but that seemed to go away soon enough. There was a little bit of pain but mostly I am just uncomfortable. I just went for a walk (a little under a mile) and feel good ... just a bit crampy. I'm extremely tired and still feel somewhat out of it but otherwise I'm doing pretty good. Oh ... I've been able to sip on a little Water and a little broth but not much at all. Sorry I'm not writing much now - I will write more tomorrow. Hope you all are doing well! Kelly
  5. I also go tomorrow. Good luck to you! I look forward to hearing how everything goes for you.
  6. Ok peeps ... tomorrow I will be part of the post-op club! I am both excited and nervous - but I am not worried about regrets. This is the right time and the right decision for me. After 9 months of prep, working with a nutritionist, and forming a solid exercise routine, I am confident this is the tool I need to guide me on my journey (indeed I am aware that this is only one of many tools to assist us on our on way). So, yes, I have struggled (greatly) with a two week liquid only pre-op diet - I appreciate knowing that I am not the only one to do so! The stories of others who were (are) in a similar position to mine and have gone through the surgery and have shared their experiences are exactly what I needed. Thanks everyone!
  7. In all honesty what is disheartening is how some on the boards make it seem so easy to follow the pre-op diet. If I were able to successfully follow a diet, I wouldn't need this surgery. And neither would you. While I appreciate all of the insight I do think lines are crossed when making such harsh judgments and declaring someone is not ready for surgery based on one post. I think it's important that we keep ourselves in check and not assume an authoritative, expert role.
  8. Nicolanz! Well, I really am taking it one hour at a time. I did great yesterday - stuck to the plan - nothing but Protein shakes - though I forgot about the Water. Today I've had a ton of water and a cup of broth. Hopefully the rest of the day will go just as well. How are you?
  9. Will be thinking of you and sending positive energy! I'm just a day behind you (May 3 at 11:00). Good luck!
  10. I've been working towards my surgery date for the past nine months. I've taken the classes, meet weekly with the nutritionist, started exercising (zumba – love it!), the complete check list, and yes, I am struggling with the two-week pre-op diet. The reality is I have struggled with diets my entire life – up and down, over and over. I think it is terrific, pnkhart, that you have been so successful on your pre-op diet – and there have been many who have celebrated this pre-op success … I’m just not one among you. Fixerupper – thank you for “fixerupping” my courage by reminding me that I am not, indeed, doomed. I have a lot of work to do – but I can do it and I am not doomed, and the time is right, for me. One hour at a time ….
  11. Congratulations! Great to hear you are doing so well.
  12. Thanks all for the great advice and words of encouragement. Today is a new day. I'm going to tackle it one hour at a time! Have a wonderful day!
  13. OMG Tiffany! If I wasn't following you around before, I am now! When do you go to Mexico? I am thankful to be able to have this done without the travel. Makemyownluck - thank you for the encouraging words. I'll keep you in my thoughts on Thursday.
  14. Thank you, Momonanomo. Though not what I want to hear your words are true. I did talk with the Dr. when I went in for my pre-op blood work last week. He considers me a "light weight" and said he isn't concerned about the liver being in the way or being too large. I'm just worried if I couldn't do it pre-op how much will I struggle post op?
  15. Oh thank you! I was beginning to think that I'm hopeless. I'm so happy for so many who have beenable to lose weight in the pre-op phase ... I wish I could be one of them but that just isn't my reality! Yes, here's to tomorrow. Good luck to you also!
  16. Same! I'm scheduled for this Friday May 3. I have done AWFUL on the pre-op diet.
  17. Hi everyone, my surgery is this Friday, May 3. I am both excited and terrified. I haven't made it through one day of the pre-op diet successfully. I have cheated and I mean REALLY cheated every single day. In fact when I began this process my weight was 220 lbs six months later and four days before surgery I am now 245 lbs - this is my all time highest weight. What is wrong with me?!
