Before Surgery:
I am a 54 year old single gay man living in Fort Lauderdale. I have been overweight most of my life, I have high blood pressure and high cholesterol (I am on medication for both). Now my blood glucose levels are starting to rise. I have definitely started to slow down and would like to get a second chance.

I have just finished my six months of nutritional counseling, and my insurance company just approved me for surgery..

I live in the Galt area of Fort Lauderdale, I have a good friend who lives in my building and we are both going for bariatric surgery (she is going for a Lap-Band). We are both going to the same nutritional group so it is nice to have a mini support group, and we both have Dr. Wizman as our surgeon.

After Surgery:
I have lost 45 pounds so far and this surgery and this surgeon were the right choices for me. I am off three medicines and the remaining two have had the dosage reduced. I wish I had done this 20 years ago.
