Dr. Zapata in Monterrey Mexico, I am so happy, I'm going to start a new life, be a healthy Husband and father. This was a tough descision, been thinking about this for months, I am traveling alone( a little nervous), but I'm a 33 yr. old man, I need to quit whining. All those pre existing conditions that run in my family(obesity, type 2 diabetes, high blood pressure,strokes, heart disease), maybe I can beat these, I'm 305lbs. hope to get to 180lbs. and healthy. Kind of scared, big descision, it is the right one though. I have to travel by myself, my wife is pregnant, and we have a 3 year old. Need I say more!!!!My Schedule is very flexibile, I really like about 5 or 6 different Drs. so I'm pretty flexibile there also. Anybody that is doing this alone and would like some companionship, support, etc, I would really like that. Male/female it makes no differance, I would really like to go trough this procedure with someone. I'm from North Florida, so I will probably travel out of Tampa, orlando, Jax, or Atlanta. I have my passport, I'm ready, I hope you are to, I need to get healthy for myself but most important my family. Thank you, Danny

I plan on going to Mexico this month, I have two friends that have been banded there, I plan on using Dr. Joya, or Dr. Rhumbault, It is a lot cheaper, good luck Danny

Thank you for all the help, please tell me all that you Know about DR. Joya, I'm going to be banded soon, I'm self pay, I'm stuck between Ortiz, Rombaut, alverez and Joya. I'm lening towards Joya because of the all inclusive package($8,000.00) icluding air. I do not want this to be all about price. I want the best care possible. Thanks Sweety for replying, I'm am 100% sure, I am getting Lapband surgery, if it means no rice, beer, red meat, or whatever. I truly believe this is the right choice for me. All these problems we have with our family history, it is not the greatest of news. I wish you luck with your family and your weightloss. Take care, John

I want to thank everyone on this site, I have learned so much, I really appreciate everyones' thoughts and opinions. I have a couple of friends who have been banded, everything seems well for them. I am self pay, so I am really considering Mexico. Dr. Ortiz, Rhumbaut, Haucuz, rodregius all seem like fine Doctors. I am leaning towards Dr. Joya, because I really liked his shedule.You fly into Puerto Vallerta, they pick you up at the airport, they do all of your pre op tests that day and surgery follows, so you sleep that night, goto the hotel the next day and return home the following day. Leave on a Friday and return home on a Sunday. More about me, I'm a 33 year old father of a 3 year old girl, and found out today that my wife is pregnant. Super excited!!!!!!!!! I'm 6'0 300lbs, seems like I tried every diet in the world, still very active, the gym 2-3 a week, but I believe I eat extremely to much. I need to be healthy for my wife and children and carrying an extra 100-120lbs of baggage is not a lot of fun. I do have obesity, diabetes, heart disease in the family history, I know this big ole belly is a disaster in the making. Thank you all for listening, please comment, I will get back with you, John
