My Dumping Syndrome horror story (read if you dare)
WOW...sorry to hear about your misadventure. It will get better for you. Thanks for sharing the humor at your expense. I had a similar issue once when I had my gallbladder removed. Definately not a fun experience. Sounds like you have a great hubby there.

Liquids with meals.
As we all know, you are not supposed drink fluids while eating your meals. This is a big concern for my wife, who is also having the surgery, because she drinks fluids constantly every day and is afraid of how she will handle not drinking while eating. Did anyone else have this concern and how did you handle or overcome this fear after surgery? Any suggestions for her? Thanks.

How long did your insurance take to approve ?!
It has been 2 weeks for me so far. I talked to the surgeons office friday and they showed insurance as pending. They were going to check with them today about it. Then, about an hour ago, I got a call from insurance wanting to verify some information and make sure I understand who is and who may not be in network as far as Dr, hospital etc. They will be calling me back this evening. Hopefully not much longer.

Hair loss after surgery...from a mans perspective.
Ok gentleman, I have a question for you. I know that after surgery, one of the side affects can be hair loss or thinning. For me, the thinning of hair is not a major issue because my hair left the top of my head years ago so I shave my head now. But my question is, what about facial and body hair? I do have a beard and just curious if facial hair also thinned? Just wondering if anyone else had noticed.

Got my clearance
I got my clearance from my Cardiologist on Friday for surgery! Now it is just a waiting game on insurance. My surgeons office also called on friday and said that my status still showed pending and that they would call insurance on monday (today) to see if they could find out more information. Everything was submitted about 2 weeks ago. I am hoping to make it in time for vacation time I have scheduled in July, but if I don't get my clearance and start my liquid diet by the end of this week, I will have to put surgery off til August. Keeping my fingers crossed.

the worst thing about the sleeve so far...
Stay strong and stay focused and you will do just fine. It is kind of like when I quit chewing tobacco (I know gross habit) several years ago. I went without for a little while but then started having cravings and thought, well maybe just a small one. Well a small one built back up to a bigger chew and more often. Just have to stay focused and fight the craving. I did and have not had a chew of tobacco in about 7 years. Now I am ready for this challange. You will do great!

Thinning hair and weight loss
I have been watching several posts here about hair loss after the sleeve surgery. For me, it is no biggie because I shave my head. But, my wife is considering the surgery as well and is greatly concerned because she already has thin hair. Does the hair loss happen to everyone who has the surgery or just a select few? I know she can take Biotin as well as eat plenty of proteins to help. She is really struggling with this issue. Can anyone offer some help or advice? Thanks.

2nd thoughts
Has everyone been at the stage I am at right now? Gone thru the process and waiting for approval and wondering if this actually is the right thing to do? Part of me wants to give the natural way of loosing weight exercise and diets(which we all know never work) yet another shot. Is this a natural feeling?

Waiting for approval
Well, The Dr's office called and said they have submitted everything to insurance for approval. Now the wait is on. They said it should only take a week or so. Does that sound about right? I sure hope so because I am so ready to get started. How long did everyone else have to wait before hearing back?

Who Are You?
Hello, my name is Ted and I am 44 years old and live outside of Shreveport Louisiana. I have been married for 13 wonderful years and we have 2 dogs and 2 cats. I tend to be the kid of the family. I enjoy doing things outside, but especially my flower gardens and yardwork. Yes, I am a sick individual who enjoys yardwork....but only mine. I also enjoy grilling alot. My wife and I have both decided to take the plunge into Gastric Sleeve weight loss and we are very excited about the potential new life. It won't be easy, but in the end, it will be well worth it and I for one, can't wait.

Hello Everyone!
Well, I am new here and and my name is Ted and I have recently started my journey to taking control of my body instead of my body controling me. I have met with the surgeon, gotten all my medical records sent to surgeon and met with my cardiologist for his blessing. The Surrgeon has filed all information with insurance and just waiting on them now. I am having a PET scan monday on my heart, just as a precaution from my Cardiologist. I am hoping for everything to fall in place around mid July. I am very excited about the things to come. Should be a fantastic journey!
