I'm here to help...
You're going to be FINE!! Hang in there! Like Janet said... walk and move around as much as you can to get rid of the gas... and if you can get Gas-X strips... if you have those in the UK... or something like that, it helps. You'll be feeling GREAT in no time and this initial misery will be a distant memory! We promise!! Well, I can't speak to the Mexico issue, but there are others here who can. But... your age is not a factor at all! I was 63 when I had my surgery and there are others here who were older than that. Interesting that your doctor would suggest lap band with your BMI that low. I do understand your frustration at trying to maintain a healthy weight.

Beautiful flowers!! Candice..... sorry I couldn't take your call this morning. I was running late and had to get in the shower. Choir director wanted us there to rehearse by 8:45 a.m.!! I was about 10 minutes late! UGH!! I didn't buy any Easter cards this year and didn't mail anything to the three youngest grandchildren! Just sneaked up on my and didn't get around to it. By the time I thought about Easter cards it was too late to mail them! Church was packed out this morning. Sonrise service at 6:30 a.m. Didn't go to that one, but we usually have services at 9:30 and 11, but only 9:30 today because of the earlier service. Ham dinner potluck in an hour, but we're not going because we're getting together with the neighbors for Easter dinner at 3 pm.

Lucky #7 are still going strong !!!
Hi, Got back from dinner about an hour ago. Very nice visit with our high school friends. Glad I looked up the restaurant on the internet because they didn't offer us senior menus until I asked. Portions were smaller and prices cheaper! I had "Sandabs" with mashed taters and fresh steamed spinach that was OH SO GOOD! Small serving of potatoes and no gravy. And a very small bowl of Manhattan style clam chowder... tomato based, not the creamy kind. I think calories were good... fish was delish! Sort of seemed like sole. The couple from Houston... I knew she was a breast cancer survivor because she missed our 40th class reunion because she was undergoing chemo. But I didn't know she'd written a book about it! So I went on Amazon tonight and ordered it. If you google "Sue Teall" you'll find it. Church at 9:30 a.m.... I'm supposed to be there 45 minutes early.. choir is going to rehearse our Easter music before the service. There is a pot luck ham dinner later, but we're not going because the neighbors invited us to their place for Easter dinner... I think there will be 8 or 10 of us. Very windy tonight!!

Oh, my!! Pretty drastic to face possible kidney removal at such a young age. Praying that he responds quickly and completely to the antibiotic and that is not necessary. Hugs, Karen!! It is NOT your fault! Boy! You sure have a knack for finding the bargains!! You'll look GREAT, I'm sure! Is there an Easter Bonnet in this picture?? Julie, You are SOOOO busy!! Hope everything goes smoothly for you! Out to dinner with two couples we graduated high school with tonight. One passing through Palm Springs, the otehr couple lives up in the mountains above Palm Springs. Should be fun, but wish I was feeling better... Lots of aches and pains today and praying I'm not coming down with something. Chills, dry lips... like maybe a slight fever. Took my BP at Walmart this afternoon and it was 87/57!! I think I need my BP meds cut back again!! I'm taking too many!

Yeah, I have a Fire Mountain catalog and have been to their website a few times. From now on I will probably be buying from them. Sounds like you have a big challenge ahead of you with this move and downsizing!! Well.... now I better get busy and do some beading! I bought a book of patterns, too. Yes, can definitely tell when you put the contacts in inside out! But I can't always tell by looking at the edges when I hold them up to the light so I look for the letters/numbers. Yeah, I can definitely relate to that! And after retirement... I found I'd come down with a "7 year itch" ..... 7 years and I'd start thinking.... we gotta get outa here!! Time to move! 7 years is the longest we've ever been in any house!! I have to stop that! Good to hear from you! We miss you!! So you want to move to NYC??? Or just somewhere on the east coast??

Hey... don't leave me!!! HAHA!! Yeah... I've stayed so busy this winter I just can't hardly stand it if I don't have some place to go, something to do in the afternoon!! The beading isn't so expensive if you find a good outlet to get your supplies... so I'll be using Fire Mountain in the future!! I was silly to spend that much money at Monica's!! But, Monica is the one who waited on me and she is a very enthusiastic beader! i really don't mind beefing up the business of a woman who is trying to make a place in the business world. She has both beading and quilting supplies in her store and she has quite a nice variety of stuff! Everything I bought is to make Red Hat jewelry and I hope to sell some of it, so maybe I'll get back some of my investment. So did you "Skype" with Melissa??? I really enjoy Skype... except for this one friend who needs a full time job and has too much time on his hands! He lives in the Dallas area... so he seems to always want to talk about 7 a.m.!! Forget it!! ignore his calls... I don't want him to see my "bed head" and my Betty Boop sleep shirt!! HAHAHA!! And... I am NOT a morning person, as I"ve mentioned before. I barely talk to Earl in the morning! I sure don't want to talk to him at that hour!! LOL Chili is GONE! I finished it off at lunch time! We broke the crock pot... wore it out, no doubt! I want to buy a new one... either at WAlmart, or at the Marine base when we go to pick up our Rx refills on Tuesday. Earl says we don't need one for on the way home but I beg to differ! In fact, I'd love to make a big pot of stew and then we'd have it to eat on the way home. After driving all day, it'd be nice to have something in the fridge that just has to be heated up! Dinner tonight.... filet on the grill for me, NY strip for Earl. Mmmmmm, it smells good. Almost done! He has mushrooms and onions simmering on the stove to go on top. And he fixed me a small baked potato.

I knew if I just waited a few minutes you'd jump in with a good answer!! All that seems so long ago, I can barely remember! So.... still on clear liquids, or including some protein drinks??? I didn't have that requirement to get in that many liquids. Warm beverages do help. I remember Janet making all that homemade broth during that phase.

Well I was going to do some beading and/or reading this afternoon! But I didn't do either one... I went shopping! All by myself! I love it!! Earl is getting better at tolerating my independence! I went to a beading store the gals keep talking about. I wanted to go before we leave. Don't know if we have any beading stores where I live! So..... $77+ later,I hope its a day or two before Earl checks the AmX credit card balance!! I didn't get much for my money!! Our instructor gave us each her special VIP # to order from a company she gets most of her stuff from and they will give us very good wholesale prices because she buys in such volume. That's what I'll be doing in the future. I think I would've got a lot more for my money. But this time I wanted to SEE what I was buying. So... then I went to Costco and topped off the gas tank but didn't go inside, and through the Starbucks drive-through and home. Now it's wine & cheese time, but I may do a little beading later. My neighbor went somewhere today that was closed for Good Friday but I can't remember where it was. I already miss not being able to talk to or text Tracy!! She's going to be in Cabo for a whole week!! Wish we were with them! I think next time they go down there we'll go too. They have found an all-inclusive that they really like. This is their 2nd time there.

Lucky #7 are still going strong !!!
Hi! Quieter day today. Not much going on and I can't come up with a good excuse to go somewhere so I may do some reading or beading or a little of each this afternoon. No choir practice today because of Good Friday. I got my haircut after pool/hot tub, so I need to jump on my scooter and go up and pay Pat, the beautician. It was a spur of the moment I can't stand my hair any longer decision. Went in the shop dripping wet in my suit and robe to see when she could fit me in and she told me, "right now". She had a little over 1/2 hr until her next appt. So I rushed to the locker room and got dressed and came back! Even left my suit soaking in the sink until she was done! DD & SIL and his two kids and four grandchildren on their way to Cabo to spend a week at an all-inclusive. They have been so excited. Hope they have a wonderful week and that SIL's kids don't drink too much and leave them to babysit!! LOL Sorry the contacts aren't working for you. I don't ever seem to be able to find the perfect pair. The ones I have now are bifocal, but I can't really read very well with them, or see the computer screen, so I rarely wear them. Weather report... just saw it on the 11 a.m. news.... nice today and tomorrow, possible rain Sunday, Monday. WIND Tues, Wed, Thurs, but I think it's supposed to be 90+ on Wed. I hope we don't have to deal with wind driving through the "Grapevine" Wednesday! We very likely will stop up there at Pyramid Lake Resort for the night, though. Only 330 miles to Three Rivers, but we're whimps and that's a little far for us for one day. Plus, our first day out... there will be a lot more to do getting away in the morning, and lots of neighbors coming to wish us "Bon Voyage" I imagine.

Contacts.... they always seem to forget to tell you how to tell if they're inside out... Most contacts, if you hold them up to the light... will have either letters or numbers on them... 123, or letters. If they're not backwards, they're not inside out. I had contacts for years before they told me that. You're supposed to tell by the curve of the outside edge, but that's a little harder to figure out. Today was very busy... TOPS (lost a fraction of a pound! Four losses in a row, but not much to celebrate as they seem minuscule!), water aerobics, hot tub. Got back from the pool and had a phone message from the elderly couple from OK and they wanted to meet us for lunch, so it was off to DHS and Sidewinders where I enjoyed my favorite seafood omelet... Have only had 2 or 3 all winter. I have enough left over to last me about 4-5 more mornings! Friend looks pretty good considering, at 87, she had 10" of gangrenous colon removed just a little over 2 weeks ago. But... Dr. appt and lunch with us was a little much and I could see she was getting very uncomfortable by the time we finished lunch. We got home at exactly 2 pm which was when I'd agreed that we'd go over to visit with a couple from OR that we've had very little time to see this winter. They have had lots of company and we've been so busy. So sat over there drinking coffee for an hour and a half or so. Then to the mailbox, library (saw people dropping off books there a lot this week so thought I"d go "shopping"), and did a little visiting on the way back. Just busy, busy, busy all day long! Nothing going on tomorrow. Saturday... dinner in Palm Desert with two couples we graduated high school with. Sunday.. church in the morning and neighbors invited us over to their RV for Easter dinner in the afternoon.. with some other couples. Monday... last Red Hat luncheon in Palm Springs. Tuesday... off to 29 Palms Marine base most of the day to pick up Rx refills and Wed. we're out of here.

Yeah... as soon as I heard this storm was coming I started plotting to make chili! We love it. DH puts it together, then I season it. He's not allowed to do seasoning because he always over does it... too much of everything, especially salt! We have worn out our crockpot. He put it by the door to go to the dump. He found a crack in the pot and one of the handles is broken, so in danger of being dropped every time we lift it or move it. Just discovered those two problems today. I'm hoping to buy a new one before we leave because we'll be on the road at least two weeks and we like to make things in the crock pot... chili, soups, stew. So I don't want to be without one for the trip home. We leave a week from today.

You got that right! Linda's DH sounds exactly like mine! I made him buy new sandals the other day because he was wearing his crocs EVERYWHERE and they died about 2 years ago! They look awful! The insides of his tennis shoes are all torn up, too. They are NEXT on my list! It's very windy here today, and much cooler... like in the 60's. And it's supposed to be pretty nasty tomorrow. Even colder, 40 mph winds, possible rain and thunderstorms. So we made a big crockpot full of Chilli today! Had a little for lunch. It's DELICIOUS!

Hi, Guess I forgot to tell you all that when Earl had the RV in for tires and oil change they found a cracked serpentine belt... whatever that is. So they ordered a new one and he had an appointment to go back in today. But when he got there, they'd ordered the wrong size belt. So they got another from a Chevy dealer across town. Then they had the wrong size bearing and something else wasn't right! He finally got out of there a little before 2:30 pm. By then I'd gottne completely bored and drove over there to Costco to fill up the gas tank and go to Starbucks. Sat outside at Starbucks reading my book and saw him go around the corner... he went to Costco to top off the RV gas tank so we'd be ready to hit the road next week. So I was ousted at 7:30 a.m. again. Sat in the car and drank my coffee and read the paper until one of the neighbors came and knocked on my window and invited me over to sit in their yard. So I did.. until it was time for the restaurant to open. Then I went and had breakfast.... one egg, slice of ham, home fries and an English muffin. Put half the slice of ham in the muffin and wrapped it up in a napkin to save for lunch. Went to beading for about 2 hrs after water aerobics/hot tub. Only two others there besides me, so instructor helped me with the little purse I missed out on a few weeks ago. Finished that before 1 pm and left. It's teeny, tiny... like to wear on a chain as a necklace. I'm going to make two even smaller ones for earrings. So.... now it's late and I'm oh so tired, so... later, chicks!!

I did go shopping. He really kind of wanted me out of the way anyway! Got 4 Papaya at Riteaid... 2 for 1, Glossy was closed, found a nice pair of white pants at K-Mart for $7.98. Nice fit... supposed to be capris.. but you know how that goes!! I'm short... they come about to my ankles. I like them, but probably shouldn't wear my new striped or polka dot underwear with them! I don't do boring old white undies.. always colors, so solids will have to do even if they are red, black, royal blue, or turquoise. Maybe grey would work better. Probably not purple. Anyway, I like the way the pants fit and I've been looking for a white pair for a long time. Then I went to Starbucks, of course, for my SF, FF latte, and I bought a California coffee mug there, too! That's another thing that Earl counts... how many coffee mugs I have! I like the size of the Starbucks mugs. I have one that says "Palm Springs", now the CA one, and my son-in-law brought me one from Jordan or Egypt or somewhere over there... I forget. It's at home in the condo! Sheet rock... have helped my Dad do it, many years ago... it's HEAVY!! Don't know if you could lift it, Karla!! It will take 2 people to lift it in to place and nail it.

We had one of those entertainment centers, too! When we got a big screen, we took out the center section and put it in our bedroom. Worked great. Then we moved to a condo... less than 1000 sq ft!! Guess what.. center section is STILL in our bedroom being used for storage! The rest of the entertainment was sold with our house, and the big screen TV. Have a flat screen hanging above our fireplace now. I have a hard time getting rid of photos! I love having them around! A good alternative is a digital photo frame. In fact, we even have one hanging in the RV. It's always turned on.. 24/7! It's tiny, but it's opposite where I always sit and I love looking at the pictures. They are all several years old, though, and every day I think.... I need to make a new SD card of more recent photos! I guess it was one of those days!! DH decided he needed to start getting us ready to head north. So he did a massive inventory of all the canned goods, dragged out all my books so I can go through them, and reorganized about everything in the kitchen/living room area. I endured it as long as I could. Then I escaped and took a ride in to town! Got Papaya at Riteaid... 2 for1 this week, finally found a pair of white pants that fit nice at KMart for only $7.98, and topped off the afternoon with a SF, FF Starbucks latte! Now I am surrounded by things I have to "process", sort and find a place for!! Yuck!

Hmmmm.... where WOULD one get a vanilla bean??? Have you tried the sugar free flavorings?? Laura... what kind of cereal?? I bought some shredded wheat a month or so ago, but when I tried to eat it... softened it up with soy milk. It went down fine... but then seemed to swell up and I pb'd most of it. Janet, I think I'm going to head for DHS and do some shopping, too. Earl is packing up the RV already! Told him we have 10 days, but he insists he has to start NOW! So I think I'll just get out of here!! He is redoing his canned goods inventory for openers!! But I've asked him to put all my books in one place so I can organize them, too. Maybe I'll even INVENTORY my books!! LOL! But I know I'm in for a count if he gets them out for me. He's going to tell me how many books I have, probably how many purses I have in the RV, how many hats and how many pairs of shoes! I hate when that happens! LOL

Since FB quiz says my "old lady name" is Opal, that's what I'm calling my evil twin. Yes, the salmon was delicious! And I think Earl said the neighbors gave us some salmon steaks from their freezer before they left. They actually put a small chest type freezer in the back of their minivan when they come down here so they can come loaded with all kinds of fish that they catch in the summer. Live WAY up in the northern part of B.C. They left early this morning. Bunch of us went out to dinner last night with them. Chicken place... and I didn't have any problem with the chicken, for a change!! Of course, it could be because I greased it up with taters and gravy! Earl is on a packing kick, so I think I am going to vacate the premises!! He's taking everything off the table and benches so he can pack the storage areas under the benches. Whatever he puts in there, I won't see for a month. So.. I'm torn... do I want to stay and supervise that process or just get out of the way. I'm thinkin' DHS - Glossy, K-Mart, Riteaid (Papaya is 2 for 1 this week) and, of course, end my trip at Starbucks. Noisy outside... neighbors just got home from "Cowboy Church"! You seem to have a magic touch for fixing things!! Hope the laptop continues to operate normally!! Mirror sounds lovely! I LOVE mirrors! Red Robin.... I'm telling you.... Chicken Ensanada Plate!! It's delicious... and only 692 calories if you order it with just 1 chicken breast. They always offer salad dressing.. which I'm sure ups the calorie count, but salsa and some other sauce comes with it and you really don't need the salad dressing. It's SO GOOD!!

Good Morning! Hope everyone has a GREAT weekend! Party went well yesterday. Wind/weather cooperated. Neighbors across the street are leaving tomorrow morning, so they threw this party out behind their park model... they're on the desert, so lots of room out there. About 30 people showed up. We were back home by 8 p.m. and I only had 2 small glasses of wine, so my evil twin did not show up! But I had to take plenty of teasing about the "palm tree party" the other night! Lots of salmon there, so kept my food pretty good! Plus, I was tight yesterday. Had mostly salmon, shrimp, little bit of potato salad, small spoonful of spaghetti and a couple of small cocktail meatballs.

Sounds like a WONDERFUL day/weekend for you! Glad everything went well.... except for the horse on the freeway!! I am the oldest of 4 daughters. But they're all great.... two have occasional problems, but when we all get together we have a blast. Love to sit on youngest sister's front porch with some wine on a summer evening! Looking forward to that at the end of the summer!
