Hey 50 & over gang We have a new spot
Wii Fitness Age is a little test you can do each day to "test" your fitness. It randomly gives you three different exercises to do based on what "training" you've been doing in the Wii Sports games. For instance, my favorites are Tennis, Golf and Bowling, so it will typically give me skill tests in those areas. But, sometimes I do boxing or baseball. The balance board comes with the new Wii Fit program that is not yet released. The only way to get it right now is to pre-order it online and it may be too late to do that, actually. I pre-ordered mine on Wal-Mart.com. They are scheduled to ship on or about May 21. That program is $90 and you have to already have the Wii console ($250 if you can find one!) I am not a very active person and have fairly severe arthritis in both knees, one shoulder, wrists and hands. But I am able to exercise using the Wii 30-50 minutes each day. And, it's a lot of fun!

Good job throwing the candy away!! Wednesdays there are always temptations for me! We go to our Primetimers group at church. Two different volunteer cooks fix us lunch each week. Yesterday it was cabbage soup, which was really healthy and really good! But I probably ate a little too much of it, as well as a small piece of bread. BUT, there was also homemade cheese cake made by the lady sitting next to me at my table!! I did my usual three bites, but probably lots more calories than my usual three bites! And then we went to Costco where I had a few samples! Bad afternoon! The scale didn't go down this week, so I need to really watch it! That trainer guy sounds like a "peach"~~!! Circuit City has a great laptop on sale this week for $699, so didn't hurt the wallet too badly~!

HI!! Good to hear from you again! I'm doing fine. Weight loss is slow but steady! Just wish we'd get some sunshine up here in WA!! New home in Montana!! Exciting!! Yeah, with the price of fuel these days... we decided to take our summer trip on the train!! Have a great time in Branson! Yes, Treasure Lake... we love it, too! Congratulations!! You're going to do fine!

This is a TEST!! You WILL be FINE!! (You can save the 1 ply for us.... we have to use crap like that in the RV!! We were wondering where the heck you were!! I'm struggling a little, too. Willpower is weaker under stress! I had to get a new laptop after my display went out yesterday, so I've spent many hours in the last two days trying to get everything up and running again. Long way to go yet, but making progress! Circuit City had a good one on sale, so I'm happy with the new one.

Hey 50 & over gang We have a new spot
I am SO jealous of your trip to Branson! When we lived in OK, we went there with our RV about every summer for at least a few days, sometimes for a week! LOVE it there! We always stay ...at the RV park by the IMAX, I think it's called Treasure Island RV. Nice place! I love to shop in Branson at all those little craft shops!!

Okay....maybe you're right, Janet.... a full moon or something going on! My computer just crashed! Screen was flickering, dimming, etc for about an hour and then it just went black. I think the graphics card burned up! So now I'm using DH's Acer and I hate how the keyboard works.. you're typing and all of a sudden the letters start inserting themselves somewhere else! And the one I'm thinking of buying is an Acer similar to this one. Circuit City has a good sale this week. I just ran a backup this morning since it was acting up, but my thousands of photos ARE NOT there. In fact, I can't find any backup on that drive from 2008 and it supposedly backs itself up once a week! I'm frustrated. Oh, well... a good distraction I guess! Oh, BTW, pouring rain again! My hair has always been somewhat thin. I haven't noticed it falling out since surgery except maybe for a couple of weeks last summer. I just keep it short. Seems easier to deal with that way. I could crochet us all a "fun fur" cap in funky colors!!

That's GREAT, Steph! Sounds like you had an enjoyable day in Minot. Wonder if that's the same mall we used to go to in the 70's!! I'm okay... kind of depressed for a couple of days... the whole Mother's Day thing, I guess. Had a nice day... church, brunch, etc with the youngest DD & family... the little ones always cheer me up. Two sons both called and one sent me a beautiful bouquet of flowers. The problem child did call to wish me a happy mother's day about 8 pm. Stiff conversation, but she called! Cheez, Linda, that sounds like ulcers maybe... burning when your stomach is empty? Not good. One thing that is helpful is that a lot of restaurants post their menus online now. We knew we were going to Red Robin with friends the other night, so got online and figured out what to order the day before. They had this Ensenada Chicken entree that was just two grilled chicken breasts and a side salad. Gave one of the chicken breasts to DH and the rest was about the right amount. Usually you can get calorie count, etc. Yeah, Jackie, you did good with those kids. Teenagers can cause so much turmoil!! We have two granddaughters turning 18 this month and they both have caused their families a lot of grief these past few months!! So our oldest son was recalling some of the crap he put us through at that age. He was just SO nasty all the time. And there was his 18th birthday!! He was a senior, about to graduate at the time. I always made the kids their favorite meal on their birthdays. So we were sitting there waiting, keeping the food warm, when he came home late for his birthday dinner. Then as he was sitting down he announced that he had just enlisted in the Navy! I ran to the bedroom in tears and I heard him say, "what's the matter with her??? Doesn't she know kids grow up and leave home???" We knew he'd talked to a recruiter, but had no idea it had progressed to that point and we wanted him to go to college. He's still in the Navy after over 20 years and now he's a commander! And now I think of it as FUNNY!! But... THAT DAY??? it was horrible! The things we go through as mothers!! Yeah, where the heck is Peaches???? Glad to hear you had a good time in Laughlin, Janet, and that DIL is doing okay!! What a scarey thing!! I was just having some gloomy days. I'm better today! I think I still have these hormone fluctuations!! You'd think I'm too old for that!!

the Smileys are cute! I enjoy finding appropriate ones to post here! Another of my amusements... my home page is set to Google and somehow tied to my zip code. So the header is all these people waiting at a bus stop. Their attire, etc changes according to the actual current weather conditions. Right now, it shows them waiting in the pouring rain with their heads covered with umbrellas, newspapers, etc. It's kind of cute! Better than looking out the window! Good job on the eliptical! Have fun with your computer games. I did my Wii stuff tonight but not for too long.. foot and knees started hurting. I really like the bowling and golf.

I bought that book, too. I really like it! Great job on the walking! Did I ever tell you that we lived in Minot for 2 yrs??? We were stationed there with the AF back in the mid 70's. Were you born yet then??? :Dancing_wub: I was about 30 yrs old when we moved there... the good old days! I worked part-time at the hospital there, in the newborn nursery. When we go to the M of A, maybe I'll sing you the little song I made up when we moved there! It's not a very nice song about Minot! :tt1: I taught it to my kids and they remind me of it every now & then!! Good job on the water. I had a couple of cups of coffee today, some crystal lite, and now I"m working on some much needed wine. It's not been a good couple of days with DD again!! I was a very bad grandma AGAIN apparently!! So she told our younger DD to cancel their brunch reservations for tomorrow, and now she's not speaking to her either. Oh, well... we still get to love on the three little ones tomorrow. They still love me. I think I'll have another glass of wine! Happy Mother's DAy!!! :Dancing_wub: We are going to a brunch buffet. DH called them the other day and they said they WILL honor the card I got from my doctor's office and let me buy a children's portion! $90 for 90 days sounds pretty good.... but better find out what it goes to after that.... like Comcast... gave us this realy good deal but I didn't read the fine print that said it was for ONE YEAR. All of a sudden my bill jumped by leaps and bounds and I couldn't figure it out until they enlightened me!! So... BE CAREFUL about deals that sound really good!! Oh, and the quiet here today, just speaking for myself, it's DEFINTELY NOT the nice weather!! The sun is shining a little bit right now, but it's the first we've seen of it all day and it's 6pm! It was a chilly, gloomy, cloudy day! Another day in the Pacific NW!!

I will tell you that I was right where you are one year ago!! I was a LONG TIME Diet Coke drinker... not to excess, but 1-2 cans a day for many years. I gave it up a year ago and now I drink Crystal Lite (or a cheap substitution!! I like Wal-mart and Albertson's brand more because they're not as sweet tasting). Some people say that after a few months you can add your carbonated drinks back, but I've had no desire to do that. I have tried a little on occasion, and I just don't miss it any more so why take a chance! It can bubble up and mess you up. I'm perfectly content with my crystal lite sub. Believe me, your tastes, desires, etc. will CHANGE in an awesome way! You completely retrain your way of thinking with regards to food. Truly... renewing of the mind where food is concerned!

Thank you!! I was afraid, being a science teacher, you might yell at me for my poison water bottle comments!! Yeah, it's really noisy around here today, isn't it??!!!!

Never tried it, but apparently those little icons will do what you want to do. I tried a couple of them. The little red "f".. is a site called "furl". You establish an account and then if you click on the "f" in the post you want to tag, it'll save it there for you. I think the other icons do the same things, just on different sites.

Did you see my little guy who got sick and died from drinking out of a plastic bottle??? (that's MY story and I'm stickin' to it) (it was one of those bottles with a #7 on the bottom) He is my favorite. I think I'll show you again!! He's a great actor!

I should've asked about PT... didn't think of it. He did encourage me to get to a pool and do some water exercise. We need to do that. I can do 40-50 minutes of Wii, but that probably isn't great for my knees.

You know what is really good... when I was in my liquid phase, I'd sometimes add a little sugar free raspberry flavoring... the kind they use for Lattes... I think mine is DaVinci... in my chocolate protein drink.. But there are lots of different flavors that come in sugar free, DaVinci as well as other brands, just for a little variety. I used the E.A.S. whey protein from Costco... at least I'm pretty sure it's whey.

Hi, I can give you some answers. It's really an entirely individual thing. Lots of people cannot tolerate rice, pasta or bread at all. I can eat all three in moderation and very carefully. But, I think you will find that as you make changes in your dietary habits, your desire for these things will begin to fade. Like, yes, I CAN eat bread, but I very rarely do because I want only quality foods on my menu, and with limited space in my stomach, I don't want to fill it up with bread! I want my meat/fish & veggies! Every Wed we have lunch at church with our 55+ group. There's always desert and I usually indulge in a couple of bites and pass the rest to my hubby. Today it was rainbow sherbet and sugar cookies... those waffle kind, you know? I started to eat this one little cookie, and YUCK!! I'm not used to the sweetness anymore and it was almost sickening! Pasta.... oh, my.... one of my very favorite foods!! But we just had "spaghetti" for dinner and we had the meat sauce on french style green beans! And I'm perfectly content to have it that way. But they did have macaroni salad on the menu at lunch today and I had a spoonful of it. That is definitely a weakness of mine so I just can't have it in the house. Out of sight, out of mind. They offered everyone leftovers to take home but I knew better. If we took some home, it'd be talking to me from the refrigerator until it was gone. Rice seems to be a BIG problem for some people, too, but I haven't had any trouble with it. Again, though, I very seldom have it. We don't fix it at home at all anymore, so the only time I have it is if we go out for Mexican and then I'll have a little but I mix it with my beans and maybe that's why I have no trouble with it. I have had one little sushi a couple of times because one of our neighborhood grocery stores often has sushi samples out for tasting. It's that sticky rice, which I have heard causes many a BIG problem... but I can eat one of those things and haven't experienced any trouble. So, go figure??? So I hope that helps you a little. Really the biggest thing I can say to you is... trust me... your whole attitude regarding your favorite foods will change! Honest! They will no longer be that much of a temptation for you. And you can have most anything you want to have if you just "budget" it... if you want to treat yourself to say a piece of chocolate or little bit of ice cream once a week... you adjust your calories to make room for it.

Hi, Well, the total knee specialist is about 10 years old, but seems very knowledgeable. He did throw me a curve. He showed me my x-rays and said the hardware in the right knee is coming loose because of the weight loss and so it is more urgent than the right. He said, even with the pain, the left one is more or less elective at this point but the right one is NOT because if it continues to get looser I could do serious damage. He says he only wants to do each one ONCE… wants this to last a lifetime for me, so he wants me to wait until I lose another 40 lb or BMI of 40. But, he’s concerned about the right one and wants to x-ray it again in two months. He says if it’s gotten worse, than he might have to go ahead and do it anyway. At the rate that I am losing, it looks like this won’t be happening until about a year from now because we head south again in Oct. It’s a little frustrating because I was hoping to be able to do a lot more walking sooner than that. So… that’s my knee story for today! I go back July 7th to see him again and x-ray again. Other than that, an uneventful day.

Well, when you are in the message square, you should be able to click on the smiley central button on your toolbar and the little box will pop up. Do a search on whatever you are looking for. When you find one you want, just clicking on it should drop it in to the box you have open. However, I've found that they can be stubborn little critters and sometimes it won't work! He is one of my favorites!
