  1. Download the software from "Smiley Central". Then it should put an icon on your toolbar. Floating??? In HOT water!
  2. That's TOO funny!! My DH cuts his own hair, too! I cut it for probably 35 years. Then, all of a sudden, he decides since he's wearing a buzz now, he can do it himself. He always misses some hair right on the top of the crown of his head, and the back always is dreadful!! He refuses to let me fix it and it's a major frustration!! So, I can relate!! He has no hobbies either. I'm trying to get him to buy a remote controlled airplane. When he first retired, he started flying lessons. He got his private pilots license one year later. So for a couple of years, that was a great hobby! Then, when we moved from OK to WA he decided it was too expensive to fly here. The first winter we were in CA, he was going to Civil Air Patrol meetings and doing some flying with them, but then he decided that was too expensive too! They get this fixation about spending money after they retire. I don't understand.. we put away money for years... for our retirement... and then they don't want to spend it on stuff like that! In fact, DH doesn't want to spend it at all!! I guess the kids will spend it after we're gone!
  3. Now you're going to make me cry again!! I can't begin to tell you how much your supportive comments mean to me!! Thanks so much! It's been a tough day. DH went over and cut their lawn today, as he does every week when we're home (5 acres) and then got a Happy Birthday balloon and tied it to the mailbox! Gotta keep lovin' them even when they're not lovable! Guess that's what we were trying to show DGD yesterday.
  4. Back home in WA state for the summer.... if they decide to have one this year!!
  5. Shirley, Just noticed your signature! You want to be careful about your use of that word HOPE here!! (a word to the wise) Janet will get on your case!! (IndioGirl) :cool2::biggrin::tongue: It's on her list of BAD WORDS along with "I'll try" and other things like that!! It's I WILL!! HUGS!!
  6. Well, THERE you are!! So glad to see you back, Carol! Sorry for your computer troubles. I'd be going through withdrawl after 3 wks of no LBT!! Sounds like your are doing GREAT! Sure makes a difference when the restriction is there, doesn't it. Great medical gains for you, too. I'm now off one of my cholesterol meds. My doc is very pleased with my blood pressure, but she's not quite ready to let me try reducing one of those meds. I am supposed to see a pulmonologist to see if my CPAP needs to be readjusted, but didn't make an appointment yet. Night before last, I woke up in the morning without my mask on... must have fallen back asleep after a trip to the BR without putting it back on. It had to have been off for several hours and DH says he never heard me snoring at all, so must be getting better in that dept, too.
  7. Welcome and congratulations on your success so far. You're on your way to a healthier life! We are fairly familiar with your area as our son lives at Moffett Field and we visit him twice a year on our way back & forth from Desert Hot Springs with our RV. He's been stationed in the area for a couple of years. We like to travel 101 and seems like we cross over to 280 somewhere near the airport.
  8. Two things: #1... couldn't get on the site ALL morning. Just kept saying "loading" but it never did. #2....having a bummer day because today is DD 42nd birthday and she's not speaking to us again. She is BIG TIME pissed at us because we went to DGD's court thingy yesterday for her DUI. They want to knock out ALL the props...no support of any kind. However, we think they are forgetting about the LOVE part of tough love, so we went. Didn't really realize that she would get so mad. I mean, it's not like we took out the checkbook and paid her fines. We were there just to give her a hug and let her know we care.
  9. We could ambush her at the M of A?!! Tie her up and take away her ciggies?? Nah....she'll give them up when she's ready! Hmmmm... do you think we know each other too well!?? Too ambitious, as Janet says, IMHO!! I agree! JANET, GREAT WEIGH IN!! CONGRATULATIONS!!
  10. So sorry to hear that, Linda! What a bummer! So sorry for your loss, Kathy. Sounds like you did great through all that stress and heartbreak. We're happy to have you back! One thing you missed while you were gone.... we're planning a weekend to the Mall of America July 25-27 to celebrate our one year "bandiversary". We're staying at Homewood Suites. Maybe you can join us!
  11. I wish you had seen someone about the foot by now! Because it boils down to this.... what is the reason for the pain?? It's possible you could have a stress fracture... not at all unusual with runners. Or you could have a pinched nerve... sprain... muscle strain..??? I forget... did this happen before or after the new shoes??? You don't want to do permanent damage to your foot. Also, I know you said the shoes "worked great", but the level of exercise/running that you are doing... you should be wearing a really good pair of shoes appropriate for running. I know you said they were $75 shoes that were on sale, but are you sure they're giving you the support you need? To answer your question, though, I think I'd do the walk/run if I were you. So.... that's my two cents!
  12. Hang in there, Kid!! You'll make it! We're rooting for you! GOOD JOB!! MUST BE THE HAT!! Good Morning, Mango! Hope everyone has a gREAT day!! We have "Primetimers" at church this morning. I am supposed to try and get some games going but everyone just likes to sit and talk, so that should be a challenge! DH has already told me "the men just like to sit and talk. We don't want to play games!" After that.... going to court with DGD.... her DUI from Dec. That should be fun..... NOT!!
  13. How about this one???? She'll be soaring to NEW HEIGHTS with this one!
  14. IMPRESSIVE!! AND, good common sense stuff!!
  15. Hi, Shirley, Glad you found us! Welcome.
  16. Do we have to get you one of those baseball caps with the cup holders on the sides and a straw attached???
  17. Kammi, Hope to have an update from you soon. Trusting everything went well! Maggie, Yes, you may need another fill. If your weight loss stalls for several weeks, if you are getting hungry between meals, if you are able to eat more than you think you should be, then you probably need a fill. HOWEVER, DO NOT get discouraged. There are times when your weight loss is just going to be slow. I think you said 11 lb in one month.. that is FANTASTIC!! I seem to have a tendency to lose very small amounts for sometimes several weeks and then all of a sudden drop 5 lb in one week. Of course, following the "bandster rules" is important, as is getting some exercise. And IT IS IMPORTANT TO MAKE GOOD CHOICES!!
  18. Morning Coffee.... about 12 oz Crystal Lite.... about 16 oz so far Wine.... about 6 oz. Does that count?? I'm about to go for a ride on my scooter and buy a 12 oz latte. The rest of the day I'll be drinking Crystal Lite. I don't like water!!
  19. It is very tempting to just get them both done at the same time. This doc told me they do it, but don't recommend it. We'll see what the other surgeon says next week. DH's problem.... rehab interfering with our summer travel plans and fall departure for warmer climes...i.e. Desert Hot Springs. If I can get the first one done within the next month, I should be all recovered by the time of our July trip. Then I was thinking I could get the other one done in August and still be ready to leave in Oct. I think we bought those Costco sausages once or twice. Sounds good.
  20. That sounds like fun! Great idea.
  21. I sometimes snack on those toasted wheat thin chips.. the veggie ones. I put a little low fat cream cheese... chive, onion, garlic... whatever I can find, and maybe a little smoked salmon. Alouette makes a low fat garlic & onion spread, too. I haven't tried the laughing cow brand.. I'll have to look for it. I saw an orthopedic surgeon this morning. After looking at my x-rays, he says I need a total knee replacement on BOTH knees! I was anticipating that for the left, but kind of overwhelmed that he said BOTH. I want to get the left one done ASAP and the right later in the summer. But DH wants me to wait until next year to do the right one. I have to think about it.
  22. My BP was about the same... on two BP meds. My appt last week.... 118/62, I think. My doc was very pleased with that, but opted not to let me quit one of my meds yet. Did stop one cholesterol med, though, and that's a start. I was happy about that because I thought she'd reorder it. You handled that temptation well!! My treat... mid-afternoon, if I am having hunger issues... I go across the street and get myself a sugar free/fat free milk latte. Get's me out of the house and away from the temptations, out of my chair and away from the TV. Yes, it's all about choices!! DH was into the chips, crackers, cheese, etc., so, best to get out and away and get my little low cal treat! And today, I also rode over to the tag agency and renewed our car tags.. a productive distraction.
  23. PREACH IT, SISTER!! Take Karri with you... and Steph..... and Ruby.... and Jacki...... ETC!!! We'll tell them!! Why are all these shows so prejudiced against WLS, and LapBand seems to get no attention at all!
  24. Good Afternoon, everyone! TOPS weigh in this morning... down 1/2 lb! I was hoping for more. But, they said the scale was weighing heavy today, and i was the best loser of the week with only that 1/2 lb loss, so that may very well be true. It's an old doctor's scale that gets moved around every week. Anyway, whatever it was, it went down! That's what counts. Still enjoying my Wii. It only lets you do your "Fitness Age" exercises once a day. Yesterday I did really well and it measured me at 40!! But after that I did some training exercises I'd never done before... some boxing and some power bowling where every frame the pins increase in number up to 91 pins! I did really well in that one and in the boxing. So, apparently, that readjusts the things you have to do to measure your fitness age because today I had to BOX. I couldn't seem to hit the bag with my right hand! And I had DISMAL results... 79!! Then I did some golf training, so I hope that doesn't mean its going to add that to tomorrow's test!! Wish we had room for a total gym! Should try to get them to put one in our clubhouse!! The Today Show has this "Joy Fit Club" feature that is beginning to annoy me. Today they had a gal on who had lost over 100 lb and they used the phrase "ON HER OWN"!! Doesn't that make you mad!!!???? Very irritating! They don't get it. And they have Al Roker. Look at him... he's gained back some of his weight... so, obviously, personal choices play a part here.
  25. Ah... that reminds me... there was some dialogue about dreams the other day... was it Jacki and Janet?? Anyway, the next night I had a dream that we all went to Hawaii instead of the Mall of America!! I don't usually remember my dreams either, and I already forgot most of that one.. except that we went to Hawaii!!
