  1. Here's me. Still coughing and hacking today. I made a dr appt for tomorrow. Mostly think I need some Rx cough suppressant before I cough my brains out. That would not be good. Throat feels better... probably not strep. Beautiful Blue Jay just landed in the grass outside my window. I had a boob squish appt today. I thought it was 1pm & we got there a few minutes early. I got very antsy and a little indignant when I was still sitting there waiting at 1:35pm, so I complained. That's when they told me my appt was for 1:40pm!! I looked it up on my computer calendar when I got home. They were right! It sucks to get old! Everything is right there in my computer and I still can't get it right! I was even getting pop up reminders and I still got it wrong! I've been a little hungry today, too. Some people on the Smartbandsters mail list have talked about yogurt and granola for breakfast. That sounds good. Maybe I need a change now & then. I could take some granola on the train. I'm sure you can buy yogurt in their snack bar place.
  2. That's pretty impressive, Cathy!! That took a lot of work! I'm sure they appreciate it and it keeps everyone focused. Welcome, Lesley! We are here for you! Most doctors want you to lose weight prior to surgery. Some require a one or two week diet of nothing but Protein drinks. My doctor wasn't specific, but told me he wanted me to try to lose 10% of my body weight before surgery! That was a big order for me. I went on a very low cal self-imposed diet and did get my BMI below 60, which was another of his wishes, but didn't make the 10% goal. They say that any weight you lose will shrink the liver and make it easier to handle during surgery as it has to be lifted out of the way.
  3. That is really amazing! And i just saw you three months ago!! Look at that chin and neck!! I will always have a turkey neck! My wrinkles are awful! Flat tummy, skinny legs, no butt!! That's great!!! Now SMILE!!!
  4. I'm putting my first dime in the jar! My throat hurts, my ears hurt, I keep coughing and I want to be in a coma, so I'm having my 2nd glass of wine!! (the little glasses, not that big one in the picture!! Ugh! I HATE that picture! It took a lot of guts to post it! I tried to resize it but that photobucket site keeps fighting with me!!)
  5. I'm not sure, but I'm guessing they made some changes on the website that are doing that. It's okay because you just click on them and it blows them up to normal size. Your "babies" are so cute. Where the heck is everybody today?? It's been so quiet the last few days. I've been feeling like crap so not participating too much... respiratory stuff, feels like maybe an ear infection has developed now. DH is making spaghetti sauce for dinner and we're going to use some more of the "fake pasta" you gave us. DH & SIL talked about going home to make spaghetti ALL AFTERNOON yesterday & it left me craving spaghetti! That reminds me, my laptop is set to show slide show of photos whenever it sits idle for very long. This one GRUESOME picture keeps popping up... actually two, one of each of us, DH & I, that is, sitting at the table in the RV eating HUGE plates of spaghetti, with a large glass of wine sitting next to our plates and garlic bread! It disgusts me every time I see it!! But I'm not going to delete it because it's a good reminder! It's actually almost that bad! Maybe it's even worse than that! Okay.... here it is!!
  6. What a nice picture!! And you are so SKINNY!! TOPS weigh in today and I was down over 2 lb for second week in a row. Doesn't show that much on my ticker because we are about to change scales. We're weighing on both this month, but then we're switching to the new one which is about 1 1/2 lb heavier. So I decided to start using the new weight now. It is compatible with my Wii, but not with our digital scale! So, according to both scales I was down 2 3/4 lb, but I figured I may as well bite the bullet and go with the most accurate scale now rather than in 2 weeks or whenever they've decided to do it... first week in July, I think they said. Anyway, we have several contests going, and with my weight loss this week I won one of the pots and it had over $9 in it!! DH has a hard time "receiving" ANYTHING, so he kept coming over to my chair whispering things in my ear like "donate it back to the treasury", "Pay the new lady's first month of dues"! I finally told him to go back to his chair and leave me alone... stop trying to spend MY money!! The way this challenge works is, whoever wanted to participate got a baby food jar with 5 dimes in it. Then you set yourself certain goals, like put a dime in the jar for every day I don't exercise, put a dime in for every day you don't drink all your Water, you pick your own things. I have a small glass of wine every day, but sometimes I sneak a second one. If I do that this week, a dime goes in the jar. Then next week we all take our jars back and whoever of those who are participating loses the most weight, gets all the money in ALL the jars (I think there are 10 of us doing this). And that's how I made $9.15 this week!! We're going to do this for five weeks.
  7. That's pretty impressive, seeing the pictures wearing the same clothes!! WOW~!!
  8. Now that made me giggle! I made her a little chubby, but I wish I had her skinny legs! That trainer person when you first log on can be rude! When I get on the balance board to get weighed she says this painful little "OH!" Then after I'm weighed and the BMI needle is going up, she says, with a bit of an attitude, "That's OBESE!" Thanks, that's sweet! Lots of sunshine today!! It was great!!
  9. Candice, WHERE HAVE YOU BEEN?? We missed you. We had beautiful weather here today, too. After church and lunch we drove in to Seattle with our DD & SIL to the U of WA Arboretum. A little late for the Rhodies & Azaleas, but still pretty. And the sunshine was wonderful!
  10. That's probably a good idea if you've been throwing up.
  11. I LOVE seafood and often eat it 3X a day, as I did today! Yes, I had a small eggbeaters omelet with scallops in it. I think I have had oysters since surgery, though they're not my favorite, and didn't have any trouble getting them down. Shrimp I'm very careful with, but no problem as long as you chew it a lot. Surprisingly enough, the only fish I've had trouble with is tuna fish, and that's mixed with miracle whip. Go figure! I love it, but eat it slowly and carefully as it has a tendency to get stuck. And, oh, if my DH overcooks my salmon and it gets really dry, I can't eat more than a couple of bites. He did that last night, so I just shredded it up with a sharp knife, mixed it with miracle whip and Tostitos spinach dip and saved it for evening snacks.
  12. I'm here! Posting from my Blackberry just to see if I can.

  14. You betcha!! Us OLD BROADS ROCK!! For quite a while I was eating 1/2 cup servings 6X a day. It is hard to get the liquids in, especially when you can't drink for an hour after you eat! But, just keep working at it. Some days I do better than others. Know what you mean about the leftovers!! Was back east visiting family last fall & we were going out to eat so often that pretty soon there was a dozen take out boxes in my sister's refrigerator, most with my name on them!! Now I try to talk my DH in to sharing a meal with me.
  15. Thanks!! The compliments are really encouraging! Just wish the thighs would get with the program!!:frown::mad:
  16. I've had my Wii for about 6 wks (got mine at Fred Meyer... just went in one Sunday after church & they had some in stock!!), and my Wii Fit since they day they came out.. May 21, because I pre-ordered on Wal-Mart.com. I love it! I spend about a total of 1 hr each day... 1/2 on one and 1/2 on the other. I LOVE the balance exercises! And, my knees are bad, but I try to do 3 min walking with the Wii each day. Not sure if it's getting me enough exercise, but it gets me out of my chair, and I always work up a sweat, so that has to be worth something. Don't know... Doodie's response sounds right. NO WAY!! I have a FaceBook account and MySpace! Helps me keep track of what my grandkids are up to!! :frown::smile::mad: Just a guess, but could be your body's attempt to get rid of any residual anesthetic in your lungs.
  17. Yeah, we should keep posting... I agree... make them read a lot of pages! Punishment for leaving us alone for the whole weekend!! :frown: Egg salad sounds really good. I had my usual tiny eggbeaters omelet for breakfast, Costco snacks for lunch and fish & broccoli for dinner. DH cooked the salmon too long AGAIN, so it's back in the fridge. Couldn't get it down. I have to have it really moist. If it's too dry I can't get it down. We are having some sunshine today!! And I think it got all the way to 67!! Supposed to be about that for the next 4 days, too. Very nice. So sorry you can't make it to M of A!! It will be fun. We're taking the train from Everett WA to St.Paul/Minneapolis (two days). I don't know how much buying I'll do. I can never find anything I like! Then after the weekend, we go on to Buffalo (one more day), for a 10 day visit with family.
  18. I agree. Especially since it's not that easy to figure out. I had a "friend request" this morning and took me a while to figure out how to accept it. I liked the "rep" things, too. But I don't think most people understood what that was either. As for "0" friends. Some time in the last year or so I signed up for one of those blog sites.... MySpace or something similar. And I sent a "freind request" to a few people including my oldest son. When he sent back his acceptance, he had to tease me about feeling sorry for me because the site said I had ZERO FRIENDS!
  19. THANKS!! You two are TOO KIND!! No makeup... just me. I'd just had my hair done... new cut & styled. I'm down almost 80 lb, but a long way from goal. But feeling great and on my way!
  20. Sounds like you've got your hands full with all those grandkids!! Hope you can find ways to get everyone eating healthier. This is a good time of year for strawberries. We lived in the OKC area for over 15 years.. just moved back to WA state last year. So I'm very familiar with the Dallas area. We have friends in Hurst and in Plano. The "Quick Reply" doesn't give you the option to change your font style, color, etc., or to add the little happy faces, etc., or photos.
  21. Hope you both have a GREAT weekend! It's been mighty quiet here today! I've been laying low... upper respiratory crap has slowed me down a little! Weight down a little though... not feeling much like eating. Well, skipped my Wii exercise yesterday so that little trainer person will be chewing on my, but, think I will sign off & do some exercise. I LOVE those balance training games.
  22. Liquids will always go right through... won't fill you up. But if you're not feeling satisfied, you may need a fill. How much are you eating and how often? What kinds of things are you eating? When was your surgery? We will miss you! Drive carefully! Very few feel restriction before the first fill, so that is normal. However, what are your doctor's/nutritionist's guidelines for this post-op period?? I was told to eat 1/2 cup servings 6X a day. I would think you should be eating frequent small servings rather than only eating once a day. It may very well be that NOT eating is what is keeping you from losing.
  23. I'll be your friend, Doddie!! :smile2:It was months before I found it, but somewhere on the profile page, I think, is where you can invite people to be your "friend"... not that it means anything in particular! But I don't want you to have ZERO friends!!:thumbup:
  24. Hi, Glad to have you with us. I started with BMI almost 64. Like you, on disability.. since 2000, and on Medicare since 2002. So I had the challenge of finding a Center of Excellence and doctor approved by Medicare. I ended up having to drive 65 miles to the clinic, but surgery in Seattle hospital was somewhat closer. I had partial knee replacement in 2001, but weight loss has caused the hardware to start to come loose, so not only need a total knee on the left, but the right has to be converted to a total, also, but ortho surgeon wants me to get my BMI down to about 40 first. In the meantime, he's watching the right one closely. Have to go back in a few weeks to get it x-rayed again. He said if it gets too bad he may have to go ahead and do it this summer. I didn't even know it was a problem. I was having some pain in that one, but he says it's more critical than the left one. Who knew??? Anyway, glad to have you and we're here to offer our support and encouragement in any way we can.
  25. Wow!! You've made impressive progress! Those tickers are a real encourager for us. It's easy to update. Go back to the ticker site & click on update/edit. You have to put in your password. Then go down to your stats and update them... todays' date and your current weight. When you're finished scroll down to the bottom & click on next. Then you should see your updated ticker and it will automatically update it anywhere you've posted it... on this site, and I have mine on MySpace and on my Google home page. It updates on all of them without doing anything else.
