  2. Hello! I had my surgery on March 26, 2013 and I've lost 50 pounds since but I'm really struggling with still feeling like the "fat girl" I've always been. In the past month I've had two people yell "Earthquak!" out their cars when I walk by and I guess what I'm wondering is does anyone else struggle with this? I want to be so proud of how far I've come, I fit into pants that I haven't worn since freshman year, but I feel held back because I'm still bigger and I wish I could wear a sign around my neck that told people how far I've come.

    Emotions Running Wild

Thanks guys (: Your responses really do help me feel better!
  4. Hello Everyone! I'm 18 and five days post-op. I start college on August 10th and I'm just feeling really worried about managing my diet while going to school away from home. Does anyone have any experience stories or advice with things ranging from whether to shop on your own or get a meal plan and how to deal with peer pressure to drink at parties? Thank you!

    New Sleeve - Workout Ideas?

I'm not sure what my parents did, they were the ones working with the insurance company and such. I think they just decided it was too much trouble to get the insurance to cover it and they wanted to do it sooner so that I would be healed when I head off to college.

    New Sleeve - Workout Ideas?

Hello Everone! I turned 18 on March 17, 2013 and I had my surgery on March 26th. I've been doing my best to get up during the day and just pace around my house or go up and down the stairs. When did most people start getting into light exercise like taking a walk outside? I just want to make sure I'm getting the most out of this operation. Just looking to hear peoples stories of what kind of exercises they started out doing, how intense, and for how long Thank you for your support and help!

Any Teens That Have Already Been Sleeved?

I am 18 and five days post-op. I never expected the recovery to be this hard but I know it is worth it. I can already see results!

    New Sleeve - Workout Ideas?

I did self pay, my family and I had been working for quite a while to get the insurance to cover it and it clearly said in their guidelines that if I met certain criteria (which I did) they would cover it - but they didn't budge! Why do you ask?
  10. Hello everyone! I just turned 18 on March 17, 2013. I had my sleeve gastrectomy on March 26, 2013. I am currently two days post-op and already feeling worried. I am having a really hard time noticing when I'm full, and I'm craving all kinds of real food already. Is it normal to feel hungry? How difficult was it for some of you to learn to listen to your body and know when you're full?

    Adolescence and Obesity

Thank you all for the advice and support! I think I was just dealing with a lot of emotions and head cravings from seeing foods. Starting the full liquid diet has made it a lot easier to recognize when I'm full and when I need to eat. On another note, how difficult was it for some of you to get protein in? My doctor told me 60g a day and I can't even get in one 30g shake. I want to try protein shots but there seems to be a lot of controversy over whether those are helpful or not. Thank you for the support!

    Adolescence and Obesity

My doctor is only allowing me Clear liquids until 1pm tomorrow so all I've eaten is Soup broth, unsweetened tea, crystal light, and Water. Tomorrow I can start my Protein shakes. I guess I'm just worried that I'm still hungry but I'm fighting the cravings.
