  1. Hi Everyone I am interested in attending a support group. Is there anyone from either the five boroughs of New York or from Long Island that can suggest any? Thank you
  2. My doctor said that I could use my whey protein that I bought from GNC and mix it with water. He said to try it (sip, sip, sip) and if it does not cause a problem it would be fine. I had my sleeve on 5/20/13 and started the shakes today. So far, so good. I'm sipping every 5 minutes and it's going down fine.
  3. Did you speak to your surgeon Rainbow?
  4. Hi Everyone! Today is my 1st day post op & I am officially sleeved! My surgeon said that everything went well during surgery...he actually used the word "perfect." I passed my barium test, no leakages or blockages however my stomach is inflamed so until the inflammation subsides, he sent me home on liquids. My follow up post op appointment is on 5/29/13. I welcome any tips, advice, suggestions from all of you wonderful individuals! Thank you!
  5. Hi Kellie...I'm May 20th also. And, any spare time i have, I'm reading & researching more about the sleeve.
  6. Where do you get the powder form?
  7. Thank you both for your support. I feel the same way. More than likely, the surgeon will be removing my gall bladder during surgery so that in and f itself is a surgery. I have always felt compelled as well, to answer questions directly instead of dodging them. My co-workers are aware that I have been watching what I eat and taking walks during lunch. I am Catholic and during the Lenten season, I did not eat any sweets: no chocolate, candy, Cookies, cakes, pies, ice cream, soda, etc. and they were all aware of that. A few have commented on my strides with weight loss. I work for a very large city agency in New York and regardless, people will talk, either in front of you or behind you. I just wanted to reach out to see if others had the same feelings and approach that I have. Thank you both again and please keep in touch. If you come up with any tips for my upcoming surgery, please keep me posted
  8. Question... If you are selective by informing or not informing individuals about your surgery, especially at the workplace, how do you respond to questions? Specifically, after you return to work from 2 weeks for an unnamed surgery or procedure, and people begin to notice dramatic weight loss? My surgery is scheduled for May 20th and although less than a handful know that I am having surgery and should return by June 3rd, it is weighing on my mind on my response. I'm not embarrassed or ashamed. I feel this is a personal, well thought out decision on my behalf for my health, not vanity. I informed 3 people (my sister, boyfriend & best friend) when I had my consultation in July 2012 and then told them in April 2013 that I was proceeding with it...nothing was discussed in between. The reason for that is I wanted to arrive at my own decision after my testing and research, without opinions from others; my mind was made up and I couldn't be influenced in one way or another after that.
  9. Thank you for sharing! I'm do happy for you! Keep up the great work & stay in touch. My date is scheduled for May 20th & I start my liquid diet on Monday!
