  1. I hope to get my date this week, my surgeon is Dr. Foote. Just got approval do insurance and ready to get on with it:)
  2. Thanks Fiddleman, I was hoping you'd pop in. Can you list some of your favorite quality carbs for those of us just learning please?
  3. Totally agree, OP! Thanks for saying what many of us feel. It's just not worth the risk.
  4. Thanks, I don't have Safeway but I'll try WalMart.
  5. Can one of the exercise gurus please define "quality carbs" and give some examples? Where exactly do carbs from fruits factor in, in the post sleeve diet? I'm seeing the term quality carbs in the discussions of resetting metabolism but also for just a general eating plan post surgery, what makes a carb "quality"? Thanks!
  6. Does anyone know a way to taste these without buying a case first??
  7. Just got my approval, it was submitted on 5/24 then the holiday weekend, and approved on 5/29. YAY!
  8. Just found out I was approved, yay! Just left a message with the nurse/scheduler, ready to GET ON WITH IT!!!!!
  9. I can't wait to wear little cotton dresses or skirts. I haven't worn either in so many years! Also I love the look of short dresses with leggings beneath, but mine is not a leggings body right now. Can't wait to buy what I love, not just whatever will fit.
  10. I like the idea of Zumba and dance videos, as long as no one is watching lol. Probably will pick up an elliptical, and we have a good treadmill. I agree I'd love to plug into running once the weight is off, but I don't think my metal ankle can handle the impact.
  11. Thanks guys, I'll check out the Biggest Loser DVDs, and I think there's a Zumba at my church also.
  12. So I've had some bad gym experiences and wasted a lot of money. I just don't like having other people see me huge and sweaty! I'm trying to figure out what will be the magical exercise for me. I know I will do walking in the neighborhood, but other than that, not sure. Have you ladies found something you really love, once the weight started to come off? Zumba, dance workout videos, spinning, etc. I need some ideas!! Any other machine you like? I also have a lot of metal in my left tib/fib area from a really bad break, so I'm not going to be able to do high impact stuff like running and also side to side torque things like serious tennis. Tennis was my thing in high school but the orthopedic surgeon said that the side to side thing was the worst thing for my metal so I could only do slow recreational tennis:( Anyway, I need some ideas!!!
  13. Add me to the list of the obsessed. The hardest thing is just waiting on everyone else's timing... Not my strong suit. I had my surgeon appt and he put me totally at ease with the safety/complications so once my mind was able to move from that to all the benefits and success, I have now become obsessed. I usually don't have time to read these forums until late at night, and then I get so excited I have a hard time gong to sleep!!!! Hardest thing right now is, I have sworn off clothes shopping since this surgery became a reality in my mind, and I miss shopping!!! I go to TJMaxx and my usual haunts, and have to skip all the clothing, waiting til I'm a smaller size, and it's driving me crazy to not be buying anything lol!
  14. Me also, 2x!!! I'm just about 50 and I've never NOT been fat. 40 years is a long time to be fat, and goshdarnit, I am OVER it and want a single digit size too!!!
  15. I'm waiting too as of today! Paperwork was faxed in today:)
  16. Just sent mine in today and like you, I want it to be fast so recovery doesn't go into vacation time. Have you heard on yours yet, ccrim03???
  17. Finally had my paperwork sent today, yay! Can anyone with BCBS of Illinois tell me how long it took for approval, assuming your weight and BMI was high enough! Thanks!
  18. Dr. Kemmeter did my seminar too, I really liked him also. I just decided on dr foote because he has done the most sleeves and was kind of a pioneer in it. I met him last week and really liked him, very easy going and very competent. He put my mind to rest about complications and explained some of the technical things he does in surgeries to eliminate some of the main complications. I left feeling like I didn't need to worry about complications any more, that I was in very capable hands. The insurance submission has been a frustration, absolutely. I assumed it would go in pretty much right after the surgeon/psych visit, never dreamed it would sit around over a week. Not sure if that is normal or not.
  19. Hi Kelly, I'm with dr foote at GHP also. They are submitting to insurance and I hope to have surgery in June or for sure August. The submitting part has taken them over a week just to send the paperwork via fax to my ins company! Not really happy about that, just anxious to get on with it and avoid summer vacation conflicts.
  20. I'm with you OP! Yes, I want to be healthy and I want to be a single digit! I'm so sick and tired of being fat. I can't remember a time when I wasn't fat, I've been this way all of my life and I'm just plain tired of it!! I want to buy some sexy undies at Victorias Secret. I want to buy a short skirt and never have my thighs rub together again. I want to buy tall sleek boots, and wear semi-slutty clothes!! I want to go to the beach in a sleek classy size 8 black swimsuit! I'm waiting on approval now and just want to get on with my new life!
  21. Following up, today I had my appt with the surgeon Dr. Foote. He was great and took the time to answer all of my questions. He is one of the midwest's best sleeve surgeons, kind of a pioneer. His competence was obvious and his answers to my questions put me at ease, I'm ready to move forward with confidence. Insurance approval, then scheduling surgery, yay!
  22. How are things going for you, superchica? Tell me about Dr. Foote.
  23. I have not had surgery yet. I have switched to Dr. Foote in Grand Rapids, heard so much great feedback about him. I have my appt with him and then the psych tomorrow. Looking forward to getting on with surgery but because of summer vacations and plans, I probably won't have surgery til August 1. Bummer.
