    Eating to fast?

I am on morning 5 after surgery. I have had my roughest evening last night, it started late afternoon with large amounts of painfull gas and diarrhea. As the evening progressed I started feeling pain in my left shoulder and the left side of my abdomen, the pain was bad enough to make me come real close to passing out, my vision started to narrow and my hearing declined. I laid back in the recliner for a while feeling like I had nails driven through my shoulder whenever I moved in the slightest. I stayed like that for about 45 minutes, my wife got me 2 Hydrocordones which helped for awhile. This being Sunday evening I thought it would be useless to try to contact my surgeon but I gave it a shot. I called his office and he had an emergency contact person that relayed the info to the surgeon (my good fortune that it was my surgeons weekend to be on call) about 15 minutes the surgeon called me, I tried to explain the best I could what was going on, he suggested that I go to the emergency room (which for his hospital is 1hr away) he said that I would probably need another upper GI and possibley a CAT scan, I really didn't feel like moving or riding to the E.R. also my wife has been off with me for the last 5 days and she allready had set up commitments for Monday, she has been my rock through this all, and did not want to complicate her schedule any more (allthough she would have at the nod of my head). The Surgeon said he would leave a message to his nurse to call me this morning and we would go from there. This has been my first real struggle to make me question my decision to get the surgery, yes I have been whinning about only eating 2oz liquid meals but this episode made me somewhat fear for my future. What did I do wrong? I use my little spoon and take small bites of cottage cheese and yogurt, broth and pudding. Did I do wrong in snacking on colby cheese sticks(only .975 oz) that I liquify in my mouth before swallowing? I believe that some of the problem we have with excess gas also may come from suddenly changing our diets to eating more artificial sweeteners, this I know from pasted experience gives me terrible gas and diarrhea. I know that sugar to many is the DEVIL however with all of the chemistry in artificials I am not so sure that the few extra calories are worth it. Wish me luck on getting back on my noble sleeve quest!!
  2. I have noticed just in the last few days I have had a large purple bruise from the top of my groin to about 3 inches above my belly button and spans sideways about 6 inches on each side of my navel. My surgery puncture wounds have very little discoloration. Anyone else have this?

    Eating to fast?

The packet we were given at the nutrictional semenar listed soft cheese as a snack for weeks 1 to 4, maybe I misunderstood this to mean after the first week.

I had my sleeve on the 6th and all went well, not to bad on the pain but the gas has been terrible. I have had 3 watery bowel movement which have made me very careful, I to have learned to never trust a fart. I have been having a hard time getting my protien and water but I think that with time and research we will all get very creative. Good luck to all!!
