  1. Mzzjazylady, yeah I already switched to Florence.
  2. EMSJen, I am having same day surgery with Dr. Garcia April 10th at Florence.
  3. As stated above, I am having the sleeve done with Dr. Garcia same day as I fly in on April 10th. I'm getting butterflies and I'm nervous, scared, excited, all wrapped in one. I can't believe I'm only 6 days away!!!
  4. I am about to start my pre-op diet and was wondering...I bought the Syntax Nectar strawberry kiwi powder. It's 23gr protein per scoop, so I would drink it 3x a day for 69 gr of protein, and I am allowed a small salad at dinner. Has anyone used this protein before and is it the "right" stuff to be using? Thx!
  5. Going to him April 11th. Any info you can give?
  6. April 11th. Dr. Fernando Garcia in Tijuana.
  7. Yes ma'am. Just found out ill be going by myself because no one can get off work! We will have to exchange numbers and meet up one night...
  8. Well, I have officially set my surgery date with Dr. Fernando Garcia through ready4achange with Alma. My surgery date is April 11. I put my deposit down and all, getting ready to make flight plans. This is all becoming so real! Anyone else going to Dr. Garcia in Tijuana around the same date? My starting height/weight is 5-10, 335 lbs, at a BMI of 49.5. Hope to be done quite a bit during pre-op though!
  9. I'm getting ready to schedule for April 18th.
  10. Well, I had a physical done here in the states through a bariatric surgery place and they said all my tests came back normal and I was cleared by the doctor for surgery. Now since I am a self pay I have decided to go with Dr. Garcia in Tijuana but I needed to know that I would be eligible medically for myself. Now all I am waiting on is to get my FMLA approved then I will schedule. This is getting so real, I don't know how to take it!
  11. Good luck soon...I'm in dallas area also!
  12. Glad everything went well. I've chosen dr Garcia also and hopefully April will be my turn!
  13. Hey all my DFW area sleevers from Mexico. Who are you using in the area for your aftercare and follow ups if anyone other than your primary care physician? I'm in mesquite area!
  14. That's great news! Can't wait to hear all about it!
  15. Good luck y'all! Just found out my insurance wont cover anything. I have been in talks with Alma for Dr Garcia and I have decided he is who I want! Post up your story after surgery, looking forward to any info. I'm getting excited and hoping April I can get sleeved!
  16. So is the drain as bad as people make it seem? Where does the drain come out of? Stomach, chest?
  17. Thanks to those who have replied. I'm looking for general reviews, the good, the bad, the ugly, etc. how many leak tests did they do? Do they come to the hotel to care for you after the surgery for the two days? How was the pain afterwards? Able to walk pretty quickly? Just any and everything you can give me is appreciated. Pretty nervous, just like everyone else I'm sure about doing this out of the states. Thx!
  18. Well, I have been speaking with Alma at ready 4a change about having the sleeve with Dr. Garcia in Tiajuana. Dr. Garcia reviewed my forms and said I would be clear for surgery. This is scary! I've read and researched for a while now! Can any post any current info about Dr Garcia and their experiences, good or bad before I make a decision? Thanks!
  19. Hey everybody, this is my first post here. I have recently been looking into getting the sleeve. I called my insurance company, AETNA, and they told me that I have an exclusion on my policy for bariatric surgery. I called one company here in the Dallas area who said that although there is an exclusion on my policy, that they asked a few more questions and it may still be able to be covered under insurance. Has anyone ever been able to get their surgery covered under insurance with an exclusion on their policy? Thanks!
