  2. Hi, I am 53 years old and was sleeved on Jan 24, 2013. I have lost a total of 80 lbs so far, with 55 being post surgery. Due to a congenital heart issue, I have always had huge difficulties with losing any weight at all. This is the very first time in my life that I feel have been successful with dealing with losing weight. I still would like to lose another 60-70 lbs, so there is plenty more work to do. I dont focus so much on the amount of weight I have lost,or have to lose, but rather concentrate on my health and building my strength. For the first time in my life I like to exercise...I now love going to the gym and strength training. I am getting around much more easily and feel better overall. I feel like I have control over my body and over my life in general. This definately has been a very positive experience in my life. I do think the experience is different for people in the over 50 age group, losses being slower and the motivations are different for us. Overall it has been a great opportunity for me. I am sure it will be for you as well. Take good care and enjoy the journey!! Susan

  4. sleeved 1-24 and down 70 pounds.
  5. I think it is pretty common that people do not comment on the weight loss. I am not sure if its the "pc" culture we have, or if people just dont feel comfortable commenting on others appearances. But 40 lbs is certainly worth a "wow you look great!!!"

  7. Surgery date is 1-31-2013. Hw 322 Sw 301 Cw 268 total loss of 54 lbs. I have been stalled for the last 2 weeks, but am amping up the exercise and the protein and working on actually hitting 64 oz of water (that is tough for me) Here's to breaking the stall soon!! I typically lose very very slowly so for me this is lightening fast speed!!
  8. I am 5 weeks out and am down 30 punds. Still have fatigue, but feel well.
  9. I had 2 weeks liquid, 2 weeks puree then 2 weeks soft.
  10. I was on liquids for 2 weeks then moved to pureed stage. I hate the pureed thing. 2 more days and onto soft foods!!
  11. Surgery was Jan 24 2013 and am 25 pounds down since surgery total of 46 down so far. Had about a week of discomfort, but still am having issues with getting more than 24 ounces of water in daily. Protein is pretty much over 50 grams daily.

  13. Hi Everyone, It looks like the thread has gone pretty quiet, but I figured I would post my story here for anyone more recent. I am 53 and just was sleeved on Jan 24, 2013. I did it for health reasons, high blood pressure and issues with my back and hips, in addition to heart issues I was born with. My cardiologist has been talking about it with me for the last couple of years, but I was truly afraid of any surgery. I want to be able to do what I want to do with the rest of my life, without worrying about how I can get around. Play with the grandkids, travel and go do whatever I want to do. It truly has changed my life in alot of ways. I do not think people in their 30's have this impact their lives lives the way we in our 50's do.
