  1. No, that was 4 days after.
  2. Oh my gosh, last night was my first night back at the hotel. The broth was sooooo gross! It just felt like I was drinking grease. I don't even think I'll try it again. We went to Walmart this morning and bought the cutest little tiny yogurt cups (with 5.9 grams of protein a piece). I can finish a whole one (in the mini size) and it goes down easy and I'm very satisfied afterwards. I have no idea what they're called... Just something Mexican that we found in Walmart.
  3. Honestly, there isn't much to be nervous about. I had surgery yesterday at 2:15 pm. It's 11:25 am now and I feel great! My leak test was flawless and I've been walking around all morning. The staff here is very friendly and attentive. I got to take a shower about an hour ago and it was incredible. I still haven't gotten to drink anything, but I will soon. I understand your nervousness, but once you meet the staff here, you will be so at ease.
  4. As soon as I get home, I'll be blogging EVERYTHING. I'll let you all know where you can find my blog so that you can follow it if you want. I'm taking lots of pictures and trying to stay busy during all the waiting. I woke up at 5:30 this morning and we're not scheduled to go to the hospital until 10:20. So I'm super bored and impatient.
  5. Surgery is tomorrow with Dr. F. Garcia at MI Doctor Hospital
  6. I'm at the Marriott in Tijuana right now! Been here for about 5 hours now. Does anyone else think the chicken broth at the hotel tastes like Chinese fried rice?
  7. My surgery is this Friday with Dr. Garcia. I never received the packet of info from Alma the first time, but I emailed her and asked her to send it again and she was more than happy to. The diet depends on your BMI. The higher your BMI, the longer you do it. I'm doing mine for 10 days. I don't know the answers to your other questions yet, but I will be posting and blogging my experience after surgery and I'd be more than happy to answer any questions you have once I'm through.... If someone else doesn't answer them first, that is.
  8. Haha normally people reply so fast on here.... It looks like its just me and you on the 15th. My surgeon is Dr. F. Garcia. I've heard that MI Doctor isn't a very big hospital though, so we'll probably bump into each other walking the halls over and over. My grandmother is going with me, so I'm sure you'll see her around as well. She was sleeved here in the states in September and has now lost 65lbs.
  9. Oh, and travel baby wipes!
  10. Buying my last minute packing things right now. GasX strips and Chapstick are both in the shopping cart. Thanks!
  11. Thanks for the help! I think I had about 3 times that much stuff that I thought I would need! I'm flying back on 3/19. My grandma is going with me and while she is by no means "old" or "frail" in any way, I don't want her to have to lug my suitcase around along with her own things on the way back. I'm going to have to make myself a very short and precise packing list and stick to it. This may be more challenging than the liquid diet!!! Haha
  12. I am flying in this Thursday. Surgery on Friday (3/15). And I have no idea how to pack for this. I am a tried and true over-packer. I don't want my suitcase to be too heavy, but I also don't want to forget something important. And what kind of clothes should I pack? Shoes? What will I even want to wear? Are there any good tips that anyone has about stuff I should bring with me? Maybe something that you were glad you took or something that you wish you had packed? I am having a packing crisis.
  13. Mine's on the 15th with Dr. Garcia! I bet we'll be seeing each other around.
  14. I'll be at MI hospital on 3/15 having surgery with Dr. Garcia. Staying at the Marriott through Ready4AChange.
  15. Thanks! Same to you!
  16. I'm also from Oklahoma. Going to Dr. Garcia at Mi hospital in Tijuana on March 15.
  17. And by "irate blog entry," I meant "first blog entry".... Autocorrect.
  18. I love that this was posted. I'm pre-op right now. Surgery in 8 days in Mexico. I struggled a lot with who to tell at first, I told my closest friends and my family. My parents and grandparents are chipping in on surgery costs and my grandma is going with me to Mexico. Word spread through my family quickly and a few weeks after we set my surgery date, I got a call from one of my aunts telling me that this is the stupidest thing I've ever done and she doesn't even think I need it anyway. Really? I'm 22 and have a BMI of 41. I'm on 2 different medications for things that are affected by my weight, and you think I don't need this? So I just laughed and said "well, it's too bad I already bought the plane ticket and I'm an adult who can make her own decisions." The closer it gets to my surgery day, the more people I tell. I've found that generally, everyone is supportive. Even if they're thinking this is the "easy way out," they understand its my decision and I make it clear that I am not doing this for cosmetic reasons. This is for my health. No one (other than that one aunt) has expressed their opposition. Many people are very happy and excited for me. They see it as a great opportunity. I recently started a blog to document my surgery experiences. In my irate blog entry, I gave a description of the procedure, it's results, and why I decided to do it. I linked my blog to my Facebook and my friends have responded very positively to it. My advice-- do whatever you're comfortable doing. Tell whoever you're comfortable telling, but don't keep it a secret because you're afraid of the response because I think in most cases, you'll find more support than you expected.
  19. I'll fly in on the 14th, so I'm sure we'll probably run into each other. You'll be post op and I'll be pre.
  20. Are you serious?! I'm flying out of Tulsa on 3/14 and my round trip ticket was $1018 and we booked the flight weeks ago
