September Sleevers...! Come on in and chat!
- Pre-op verse Post-op protein shakes
I'm allowed a small amt of fruit as a snack 2 times a day. I prefer the premise shakes so I don't add anything.- Pre-op diet...WOW!
Thanks Christine... I was hoping this was the hardest!!- Pre-op diet...WOW!
Good luck to you as well! Will say a little prayer for you on the 10th!- Pre-op diet...WOW!
I feel the same way! I told myself I've screwed up long enough & I wasn't going to mess up b/c if I can't even do the pre-op diet then what am I doing this for. I'm amazed at myself...finding it very therapeutic as well! Good Luck!- prepping for 2 week pre-op liquid diet
U might try isopure from GNC if u don't like shakes, they are more like fruit juice, all different flavors & tons of protein.- prepping for 2 week pre-op liquid diet
This Premier is pretty thin...I don't like making my own shakes, I find that when I get busy at work they settle & become gritty. That's why I like these. I'd say somewhere in between choc milk & yohoo (sp? Doesn't look like I spelled it right!) in consistency.- prepping for 2 week pre-op liquid diet
Premier Protein is my fave...I like the chocolate, it tastes more like chocolate milk & is really filling, even with my big ol' stomach in tact. My pre-op diet calls for breakfast/lunch shake & 3oz lean meat & non starchy veggies. Good Luck!!!!- Pre-op diet...WOW!
I thought the pre-op diet would be hard as hell...well it's not great but I started my 2 week liver shrink diet Tuesday, today is Sunday & I've lost 12.5 lbs. I've NEVER been able to get the scale to budge like that. I'm sure it's mostly water weight but I can even feel a difference in my work uniform pants! I'm totally motivated by watching the scale moving....if this is any indication of how it will be after surgery I can't wait! My only fear is loose skin but I know it's gonna happen most likely. Good luck to everyone...my surgery date is 9/10 so only 1 more week on this liver shrink diet. I know I couldn't follow it for life, too many temptations out there bit I haven't cheated!- liver reduction diet
Mine is very similar except my diet is protein shakes for breakfast/lunch then the lean protein & non starchy veggies for dinner. I look SO forward to eating real food, it tastes so good!!! I've struggled with a horrible detox headache. Tomorrow is day 4, I'm hoping it gets better soon!- Day 1 Pre-Op Diet
today is day 2 for me...Im surprised how well I did yesterday as well. WE CAN DO THIS!!! This is probably the hardest thing, having to do this pre-op WITH a stomach in tact!!!- First day pre-op diet
Ok, it's 7:30AM here in TN. I walk into work & there sits a platter of cupcakes, a coworker offers me a piece of key lime pie & then someone is taking orders for our favorite hold in the wall breakfast joint....I just have to LOL!! I guess since all this preparation has happened I've become more aware of what I put into my body. So far so good, I've had my breakfast protein shake, I can have a small piece of fruit as a snack & another shake for lunch. I'm allowed 3 oz of lean protein & non starchy veggies....anyone else become a food snob???? I'm finding myself silently judging others food choices!!!- Whos in September? We need some September buddies!
Starting my 2 week liver shrink diet tomorrow!!!! It's really setting in that this is happening!!! I'm SO ready for Sept 10th!!! Luckily my pre-op diet isn't only liquids. I can have 3 oz lean meat & a small (think new potato) baked potato for dinner. Good luck to all my fellow September sleevers...please keep in touch!!- Feeling overwhelmed :-/
Thanks Ladies, My preop diet is 2 weeks long. I can have a light sensible dinner which I'm grateful for. I gave up cokes (my lifetime vice) 33 days ago & haven't wanted one at all, I'm quite surprised by myself & proud. I hope that's a sign I will succeed! Good idea on the freezing of meals. I think I will do that on my days off right before surgery. I just don't want them to feel neglected!- Feeling overwhelmed :-/
I start my pre-op diet in 10 days, I'm excited, it's been a 10 month process but I find myself overwhelmed as I make my grocery list...I have a hubby & son that I cook for & putting my list on paper & realizing I won't be eating what I'm cooking is trying...not that I will miss the food, I'm more worried about them. I guess it's just a huge change & it's finally here. Any & all advice welcome!- Low sugar apple juice...
I'm a month from surgery, been trying to start everything low or no sugar but haven't found an apple juice I liked yet. The healthy balance one was just too bitter. Now I have the motts for tots, it's not bad but I have been adding a little Splenda tomit...anymore suggestions? Thanks!- SEPT 10th!
Sept 10th here too! Looks like the 9th & 10th were popular dates! Good luck ladies!!- Whos in September? We need some September buddies!
Did my Pre-Op testing today....7 vials of blood, 2 chest xrays, an EKG, good bit of paperwork & my copay paid later I'm ready! I start my liver shrink diet in 2 wks then Sept 10th it's show time!!!- Whos in September? We need some September buddies!
September 10th here! I'm SO ready!- Before/After Pics - 2 months post-op
Amazing! U look like the younger sister to the lady in the before pic! :-) congrats!- BCBS Federal Question...
wow...I'm going to dig one out now! Didnt know it was on there! Thank you SO much Chinamama!- BCBS Federal Question...
So the $5K is for all covered? (It's me, my hubby & 1 child)- BCBS Federal Question...
Ok...that makes sense!!! Thank u!- BCBS Federal BMI Question
Yes, mine has always been below 40. I got approved with just high blood pressure as my co morbidity. I was told by several staff at my surgeons office that we have the best insurance! Good Luck!- BCBS Federal Question...
I have blue cross blue shield Federal, Basic Option. Can anyone explain what out of pocket expenses are? It says mine are $5000. In the explanation of benefits it says I will pay $150 admission fee/surgeon fee & $150 per night I'm there (2 nights) we have no deductible with basic option so I'm curious how the out of pocket comes into play or does it? I was reading the explanation of benefits like I would only pay the $450 total. - Pre-op verse Post-op protein shakes
