  1. LOL, thanks Hazel. I do feel like I'm ready, I know I can do this, and know that this is what is needed to get me to be able to lose and maintain the weight, and get me off my meds and healthy for my family. I just was having doubts, as one of the 'selling points' for the surgery at the seminar I went to said that doing the Atkins or any high-protein diet long term is not feasible or healthy, yet it sounds like that's how I'll be living the rest of my life? I update the list every morning, I will add you tomorrow!
  2. See, that is exactly what concerns me about this whole thing, and makes me question if I should even go through with it. I've done low carb diets, and actually did quite well on them. I lost 40 lbs in 3 months once doing high protein and low carb. Then when I went off the diet, I gained back 50. So, if this is just a glorified 'diet', then I could probably do this on my own without surgery. Someone please tell me I'm crazy for having doubts, and that I need to do this because it is a tool for long-term success.
  3. March 8 for me! 2 weeks from today!

  5. I already added you to the latest list this morning, slidellsleever.
  6. Yes, please shoot him! I only have 1 week of pre-op diet, so not yet for me.
  7. Wow, Sumsuz68, everything you just said could have been written by me. The doubts, the 3 kids, not super big, the blood pressure meds, the sleep apnea. Good luck, I'm sure everything will be ok! Even better than ok, it will be a whole new life. I'm on March 8, so I'm a week behind you.

  9. You're welcome! I saw a need, and decided to fill it. I guess it comes from being a computer programmer, trying to turn a mess of data into a more logical format.
  10. Time for an updated list, after a flood of new dates came in. This is harder than I thought it would be, with people's dates moving. I didn't include people if they said they had 'tentative' dates, or were 'aiming for' a date. If I left you off or got a date wrong, feel free to contact me, or just copy the list yourself, edit it, and paste it back into a new reply. 1 SKgirl27, Kaleen, racoon_439, Sumsuz68, MzNikkiG 2 Tryingtobringsexyback, TeriMoBeri 3 4 Lmariewj, Leo815, Just1Girl, JeffNNJ, mattsbelly, dinky, Garlandfam, Joeseph Intravaia, Fifty&Hippy 5 MissFae, teetani, gelen's_change, sr910, AFinch, duckie913 6 bringiton, Presher87, dustdog77, simonetwentynine, pammie37 7 Mommielissa06, Jenniferg, ashley18, Misconduct, Bvl, krissj, MoniqueA97, jody73, purplemoonflower123 8 Courtney, toya3901, pacificpeach, BigDaddyJoe, st2011, alanah 9 10 11 Caspinelli712, chrissyatthebeach, Liljulz202, ARenee99, jenah 12 PeacockMama, onelessfatgirl, HollyMc63, brandy88 13 SerendipityHappens, adoptmom2_3, PressOnward, erica hall 14 BigFatLoser, superstartover, Gwenny, traycrow83 15 futuresleever, Kodiesmom, dsdolls 16 17 18 Canadagurl, AmandaRaeLeo, tdguill 19 aneke26, slimjim41, Healthybabs 20 BeBeSpArKLeS, Nicole2013, Kristy Giovanelli, busybeingme, maeg 21 Reneetrom, Newnay 22 floridafd, LaserSkinGirl 23 24 25 Vsgbrandy77, youngtammy50, lookingforwardnotback 26 Thistlegirl 27 Oldnavee, tannak 28 Mlecompte 29 30 31
  11. Leonafire, I'm with you on the charts. My wife is 5'3" also, and when we first started dating she weighed 135, and was smokin' hot! I saw pictures of her at 120-125 from before we started dating, and she looked like a skeleton. For myself, I've seen charts that say I should be 170 at 6'1". I think around 190 is the perfect weight for me, from past experience. It seemed like all of my health issues kicked in at around 220 (high BP, GERD), so if I could get below 200 and off medication I'll be extremely happy.

  13. Hi pacificpeach, yes, it looks like we are on the same day! I feel so in the minority on here being a man. Is it that less men get the surgery, or less men are on the forum? Anyway, my doctor only requires a one week pre-op diet. I wonder why there are so many variations as to how long they want you to diet before?
  14. Hi all, I decided to go through this post and try to make a list of people getting it done and the day they are doing it, in case you'd like to make a buddy. I did my best to include everyone. I didn't include anyone who had tentative days, or days they were 'hoping for'. Sorry if I left anyone out. Feel free to take it and edit it if I made any mistakes. 1 SKgirl27, Kaleen, racoon_439 2 Tryingtobringsexyback 3 4 Lmariewj, Leo815, Just1Girl, JeffNNJ, mattsbelly 5 MissFae, teetani 6 bringiton, Presher87 7 Mommielissa06, Jenniferg, ashley18, Misconduct, Bvl, krissj 8 Courtney, toya3901, pacificpeach, BigDaddyJoe 9 10 11 Caspinelli712 12 PeacockMama, onelessfatgirl 13 SerendipityHappens, adoptmom2_3, PressOnward 14 BigFatLoser 15 futuresleever 16 17 18 Canadagurl, AmandaRaeLeo 19 aneke26 20 BeBeSpArKLeS, Nicole2013, Kristy Giovanelli, busybeingme 21 Reneetrom 22 floridafd 23 24 25 Vsgbrandy77, youngtammy50 26 Thistlegirl 27 Oldnavee 28 Mlecompte 29 30 31
  15. I am counting down the days to March 8, I just hope that none of my test results prevent it from happening. That is my biggest fear at this point. Have a cardiac stress test on Feb. 26, and a Pulmonary stress test on Feb. 28. Still have to do my bloodwork and chest x-ray. Did the psych exam yesterday, have one more meeting with the nutritionist, and the one-week-before consultation with the surgeon.
  16. I really think that is going to be the hardest part of this whole thing for me. I pretty much take a drink with every bite, so changing that habit will be really hard for me.
  17. I also worry about this, especially since we're not supposed to drink either 15 minutes before eating or 45 minutes after, so that leaves at least 3 hours of the day where we're not allowed to drink anything.
  18. I went for a colonoscopy and endoscopy together last year, and I have to say that there was really nothing to it. And that is coming from a guy, and we are generally wusses about that sort of thing. Good luck everyone.
  19. 2 weeks shouldn't be that bad, I've seen people saying 6 weeks!
  20. My surgery will be March 8. My doctor only wants his patients to diet one week before the surgery. He says it's to shrink the liver so it's not in the way during surgery.
  21. I am scheduled for March 8, and can't wait! My wife wanted to go around the same time, but someone at her job is out getting bunion surgery, so she'll have to wait until the end of April for hers. Like a lot of people here, I'm also hesitant about telling people about all of this. I've only told 2 people I work with: my boss (because there are days I need to leave work early for appointments), and a woman I work with who had the lap band surgery (my wife and I were originally considering lap band until we did more research and decided on the sleeve). I'm just not sure i can deal with people thinking I "took the easy way out", or any other negative things. My wife asks what I'm gonna say when people ask how I lost the weight, and I tell her I'll just say that I put less food in my mouth, which isn't a lie (just a half-truth). I'm 6'1", and 274 lbs. I'd be thrilled to get down to 190, I'll reassess once I approach 200. I'm on medication for high blood pressure and GERD, have sleep apnea, and slightly high cholesterol and triglycerides. I hope to be able to get off my medications.
