Hi Ladies, Just wanted to share…. I have been officially submitted to insurance! I’m told it could take up to two weeks for approval and pre-surgery class is schedule for April 25th…

single parents?
My colleague and I have our last weight management class (required for insurance purposes) next week then they will submit to insurance. Hoping for a late April early May date. My BFF is a smoker so although she has met the weight lost requirement she has to wait and not smoke for two months!

single parents?
Single mom of an almost six year old. I’ve told a few people and everyone says I don’t "need" it. Classic cliché right? As if being 5"3 220-230 pounds is healthy. All I need to do is "diet and exercise". Well, I have been overweight since childhood, its not working!!!. My doctor told me that being the weight I am, I’m taking ten years off my life! How is that for a wakeup call.... I possibly want to have another baby and I definitely want to be a grandma one day.... Support system includes my BFF and a co-worker; we all be getting sleeved around the same time J

Sorry, I did not have to go through any of that, but hang in there… Questions: How tall are you? What insurance do you have? What are your insurance requirements? For example, BCBS FED I had to have a BMI of 40 or 35 with 1 or 2 co-morbidities (not sure which). With my height and weight I qualified based on weight only lol. Maybe Dr. Nguyen is having you do some extra stuff as a precaution.

Approved by BCBS Fed in under 2 weeks
congrats!

sexuality
Question, ladies How has WLS affected your sexuality? Do you feel sexier and how are you dealing with all the new male attention?

BCBS FED
Hi! I also have BCBS FED.... My last NUT appointment is in April. They best advice I could give is to read through your policy and call customer service if you have any questions. My BMI is 40 with no co morb. BCBS doesnt make you lose weight but your surgeon may have you lose some. I had to lose 10% of my excess body weight and that was 8 pounds. It is my understanding that BCBS uses your start weight.

Feeling like I'm in some odd, twisted loop of mental tricks and games
Hi! I am also BCB Federal with a 40 BMI. I have had a weight problem all my life and I have come to the realization that WLS is the best option for me as well. I have not had my surgery yet. I have one more weight loss class, and I hope to have it in late April or early May. Do not second-guess; just make sure you are ready for what all this entails. Do your research to make an informed decision. This is not a cure but a tool and still a lot of hard work. I am on these boards almost every day learning the good, the bad, and the ugly. It is great that you are now active; it is good to develop healthier habits now. It increases your chances of success!

I need to whine - dress sizes
I have not had surgery yet, but I do understand where you are coming from. Years ago, I was 175 pounds and wore a size 12. Now, I weight 230 and wear a size 16. This does not make sense to me. Is this some elaborate joke in the clothing industry? Exactly how many pounds is a dress size?
