  1. Hi, Just like to enquire with everyone who has had to partake in the Protein supplements, of what brands and flavours you have had personal experience with, which was your favourite and best tasting and which you would not touch again in a famine!? I'm asking as I would like to find a new one but don't wants to spend $100's buying many to try. I'll start it off. I've tried: whey Less- choc, strawb, vanilla, coffee. I could only stomach the chocolate, actually quite like that flavour, all the others made me feel pretty nauseous. I have to say though that none are overly sweet and they don't have the horrible protein aftertaste. Proto-Whey - choc/coffee (friend gave me some to try) didn't like as found it way too sweet and sickly and I could taste the protein -yuk. MRM - Unflavoured, I think we all know what unflavoured whey Protein powder tastes like - not pleasant, but at least you can mix it in Soups and sauces and I have heard you can put it in with jelly too, but I'd have to eat a whole jelly to get 15g of protein in, not worth it IMO. Natures Way Shannan Pontons Chocolate (you can buy it from Woolies) -Foul, with a capital F! That's the only way I can describe it, strong protein taste and horrible flavour. Well these are the only ones I've tried, I'd love to hear what my fellow Aussies have. Has anyone tried Iso Whey? I am led to believe it is made by the same company who does the Whey Less, the ingredients are almost identical, I'd like to try it but want to know what others think Thanks everyone, hope I read done good stuff here!

    Every damn morning!

I found that the medium doesn't work for me at all and I take a pill called pariet here in Aus. I think it's the same as somac? Anyway it does work pretty well for me, I still wake every morning feeling yuk but take it straight away then have my shake and it seems to settle, at least no more reflux acid coming up
  10. Great news Michele! Just like Dean said, it happens for a reason, and I truly believe in this line of thought :-)
  11. All I can say is friends are hard, it makes me glad in a lot of ways that I only have one. I really hope I wasn't one of those mean fat girls when I was younger ;-/
  12. Ditto to all that Puppyphat!
  13. It is really hard as everyone has said to get those shakes down, but you just have to be patient and go it slow, by the time you finish one, you will have to start on your water and so on, the initial stages aren't much fun, you really can't do anything else other than concentrate on getting those fluids in, but like we all have said, it does get easier and then easier again, you will be there in no time and feeling much better for it. Just stay patient :-)
  14. Are you going the self funded path or do you have insurance? Does your surgeon offer public? I went privately with my surgeon but know he operates on a specific number every year in the public system and I don't think it's more than a year wait. I didn't think it was that easy to obtain the super for the ops, hence why I didn't even try. My hubby and I got a loan, (we had bad credit) it was very very difficult and came down to the sole reason being that one of the board members who sat approving our loan had the surgery six months previously and gave us a chance. We are making do now and I am so grateful, it is the best "gift" (our loan approval) I have ever received. If you have debt and loans now, look into a top up loan, what is it going to hurt? Good luck, something will pop up for you I'm sure XXX
  15. That's terrible Novo. What about seeing your surgeon and telling him about the problem, he may be able to persuade your GP some way?

    I need help please

Yep it's started already, dam flu. We were told here in Aus that's it's going to be particularly nasty this year. I was just about to make Drs appointments to get us all our shots, thanks Pete (my son) for giving mum the flu LOL I'm excited about another surgery, hoping this will be the last tho at least unless its cosmetic and I totally need it!
  17. I just posted this in the Aussie room and thought I'd ask here as well to get a wider and hopefully more help Hi guys, I need some help please. I had two weird "attacks" last night, first one about 8 and lasted around 10 minutes, then second about 10 that lasted nearly an hour. Had the ambulance here, I thought I was gonna die. Both times it happened within 10 minutes of me eating. I haven't had any previous problems. The pain started dull in my stomach them progressed until I was doubled over and I was screaming. I couldn't help it and I'm not a wuss, I can usually handle pain quite well. The pain went right across my stomach and then up under my right ribs, it was difficult to breathe and it was the same whether I layed down, walked or stood up. I was scared as I thought it may have something to so with my Gall but because the pain wasn't present when the ambo'a arrived, they couldn't help me. Also I noticed that last time after the pain subsided, which was quite quick, I kept bringing up thick saliva. I am going to my GP this morning, I am very scared to eat now though, I am sipping on drinks and trying to build up the courage to have a Protein shake, does anyone have any ideA what this may be? I wasn't sure but thought I'd read Puppyphat had problems recently and wondered if they were at all similar? Thanks in advance, I hope you can help me out. And YES I am going to Dr this morning but any ideas I may be nle to give her would be helpful as she is just a GP Ta Jen

    I need help please

Symptoms have been ok actually, I've been pretty good. *touch wood* Surgery is set for April 30, so nice and soon in my opinion, I haven't even heard from the public hospital that my GP had referred me to. It's taken heaps of stress off my mind already. Today tho, am sick as a dog in bed with flu, could not even hold my head up earlier, watch out guys if this is the new flu this year, it's nasty!
  19. I started to get sick a few days ago, feeling so tired etc. am flat out in bed today and feel like hell, could not even hold my head up earlier. Dear hubby has been feeding me rose tea and I feel like poop! This is the first time I've been sick since my op but I've wondered about you're question too

    Sleeve: The UNTOLD Story

Are you guys serious about going shopping so soon after you have surgery? Have I misunderstood? That seems totally WHACKY to me and I couldn't think if anything worse, much love to stay in bed and rest me thinks LZoL
  21. 5 weeks post op, I was like a pin cushion where the anaesthetist tries to get a line into me (8 attempts before she found a decent vein)
  22. Right! No comments for two days now, everyone must want to argue hahaha
  23. mini.mee

    I need help please

Today's update Seen my surgeon and he will remove that horrible gallbladder for me He is not charging over what he claims back from Medicare and my health fund so all I have to pay for is the anaesthetist and my health cover excess. It will still cost me around 1000 out of pocket but I think it's less stress knowing my surgeon will be doing it and not some no name nelly.
