  1. I'm Jewish, so I had no idea! I will be flying into Tijuana that day.
  2. Oh, Australia! I have a friend in Albury wodonga!
  3. I'm April first! I'm scheduled with Dr. Ortiz in Tijuana.
  4. Awesome! I'm glad you're able to relax a little before you go in. Take it easy after!
  5. I'm going alone. I dread having to squeeze up to a stranger.
  6. Well, I'm 5'7 and 230lbs. I still wear a size 16. The problem is that I have really wide hips, and my husband and I flew Delta to NYC back in January and I had to put the arm rest up because the sides of my hips and upper thighs were pushing into it. I think I might get the extra seat and then even if I don't need it I can luxuriate and nap
  7. If you've flown Southwest, have you ever purchased an extra seat as a 'person of size'? I'm not sure I really need a second seat, but I'm thinking for comfort sake, why not? The extra seats are refundable.
  8. Hoosier - are you going to update your blog with your story? I'd love to read it!
  9. Oh, that's a really good idea! I didn't even consider that.
  10. Thanks, Kat! Yeah, I'm looking at SW, but it's beginning to look like I'm going to be getting there a day early any way I decide to go. C'est la vie! I guess this is going to be an adventure
  11. I just want to get to TJ for my sleeve first! I'm having the worst time finding a stupid flight! Although a mexican resort for a few days - snorkel, sun, exploring - is always much appreciated in the winter!
  12. Alright, so I've started fare searching now that my passport has come in the mail. I'm flying out from Atlanta and I'm kind of amazed at how many flights require a layover or multiple stops. One flight would have me go to SEATTLE before dropping me in San Diego (Although I love Seattle, I don't really want a 12 hour flight the day before surgery!). Does anyone have any advice for finding a better way to get to San Diego? I'd prefer to fly Delta, but only because I have skymiles and I'm an (brand loyal) Atlantan. However, I'm also cool with flying someone else. Or maybe someone's aunt has is a travel agent and can help out? Another thing that worries me is that the earliest flight from ATL puts me in SAN around 10-11am, and my email from the OCC said I had to arrive no later than 9. Do you think that I need to fly in the night before?
  13. I think you have to evaluate you that on a case by case basis (experience/outcomes), however in my area it is 25k for a sleeve with a skilled surgeon. I chose my doctor in TJ because he has similar experience to the US doctor that I couldn't afford.
  14. For me, it's money. I am self-pay and it's 20k cheaper.
  15. I wish it the surgery was tomorrow! I am so excited. I am looking forward to shorts. Not bermuda shorts, but actual shorts!
  16. I just made an account, I'm bee13_vsg My surgery date is April 1st, so I probably won't be very active until mid-march. I would love everyone to add me!
  17. I am so thankful that you are willing to share all of your information. It is really helping prepare for my surgery!
  18. So, here's what I don't understand...I haven't been in Mexico since they started the passport thing, however, I have traveled extensively and every time I get off the plane in a foreign country the ask to see your passport and stamp it before they allow you into the country. Does Mexico not stamp the passport? They just let you walk into the country? Even when I walked into France once they made me go through the passport stamp line...does anyone know?
  19. Also, consider that these will be your medical bills, not your parents'. I called my insurance and they said medical problems are covered (I asked the question, "what if I got elective plastic surgery and a problem happened?" And insurance replied, "at that point it becomes a medical problem and is covered.") I didn't want them to know specifically which surgery I wanted, just in case.
  20. Go to a passport office for an emergency appointment (not the post office). Can you imagine having to wait hours at the border post surgery?
  21. I hope everything turns out well! Thinking about you today!
  22. I'm April 1st and can I just say that I am so tired of waiting! I think part of my problem is that I want winter to be over and in my head I have spring connected with my surgery, hehe
  23. Eh, I'm going to Tijuana in April and I'm not worried. I've done a fair amount of traveling and you just have to be smart about where you're going and who you're going to see, just like any town.
  24. I will be there April 1st. I'll let you know how it goes!
  25. From what I've heard on the forums, there is usually a third week stall. Keep up your good work and don't get discouraged!
