  1. oh my gawd, that was so funny I did a spit-take! What a great NSV! Great advice BigT. I too try to live by the 90/10 rule. I try to be a good little bandster 90% of the time, or that is my goal anyway. I probably only achive the 80/20 split, but if one doesn't have goals, then one can't go anywhere... I bought a quart of Apple Pie ice cream from the cold stone place, (with double apples!) I bought the quart Thursday. I haven't even had one bite of it. Maybe just knowing that I have it is keeping me from eating it. (I hord things...) Don't beat yourself up Porclindoll!
  2. (hi-jack) Hi Sue! Miss your smiling face around here! Hope all is well! (/hi-jack)

My land of exile is the land of tons 'o make-up. It's also high mountian desert, and we only get maybe 5 inches of rain a year. (this has been a banner year for rain, yay!) When you contrast that 5 inches with my native 45 inches, well, there is a whole lot of sun happening in SE ID.... So... I need a good sun screen, and I thought it might be fun to branch out into other products. Not a sun worshiper. Wolves are adverse to the sun and sun worshiping. Heck, when I use the tanning bed (perfect if you have SAD and they are experimenting with sun beds for insomnia) I use sun screen. But I get plenty of sun in SE ID nonetheless. So what is bronzer for? It it an alternative to powder?
  4. LBT, video games and homework. (what am I? 12?) About 2 weeks into my band, the pizza delivery guy came knocking on my door. Nock, nock, nock. Here's your pizzas mama. Not my pizza! He had the wong complex, but I think he about gave me one...

Okay, y'all are going to laugh so hard all y'all are fall out of your chairs.... DeLarla, you were talking about your permanent eye-liner (you look mha-vo-lous, btw) and talking about just needing a little bronzer and founation. Okay, I was raised by wolves. Wolves eat their young when they try to wear make-up. As a teen-ager, I didn't learn the whole "girl thing" because I didn't get teen-agers, especially girls. I've always thought the whole "boy-crazy" thing was ... crazy. ... ANYWAY I don't have a clue about make-up. Oh sure, I could create a werewolf make-up, including the wig-work, or create some creepy Halloween effect, but I simply have no clue about regular street make-up. I never wear it, excpt for some wonderfully dark lipstick, or some glitter in my hair. (yeah, I know, what am I? 12?) I understand the mechanics, so that isn't my question. I notice that lots of make-up now doubles for a sunscreen, which is good. I wear a sun screen when I am in exile, but that's about it. Okay, how and why do you wear bronzer? what brand of foundation/powder do you prefer how much do you spend on a tube of lipstick, and what type do you perfer? (I'll happily spend $18 on a really good lipstick. Can't stand the taste of cheap lipstick)
  6. Shipmode! Yikes! Ah the good old days.... Great post, btw!
  7. isn't that funny! I was just wondering where y'all were and what you were upto, and how your sister was doing. I just saw her pix, and she sure is doing well with her band!
  8. I don't know of anyone who's done that. I have hear of people who've done that. I can only offer some ideas why this happens. They may not have been ready to be thin. I know the last time I lost 50 pounds I had a difficult time dealing with the extra attention from men, especially. It is very difficult to learn a whole new life. People are fat for all sorts of reasons. Some of those reasons are because it is so much safer to be fat. If you eat around the band, you can gain back the weight. If you never get a fill, you can gain (or not loose) the weight. If you don't work the tool, the tool doesn't work you.
  9. Not a easy place to live, Perfectville. Be kind to yourself, if you aren't kind to yourself, no one else will be.
  10. of course, one should never aproach a deer in the wild. They kill people every year. That rack of theirs insn't simply for decoration....
  11. Well, for the first time since I've been married to my DH, I don't have any plans for the 4th. The twin sister-in-laws are mad at each other, so I'm going up to visit my family on Whidbey Island tomorrow. Whidbey is part of the San Juan Islands. I have no idea who these pix belong to, but it will give you an idea of the area. http://www.acoustics.washington.edu/~gauthier/Photography/PN/05_DeceptionPass/DeceptionPass.htm
  12. Darcey and katerzz! wow, you've both done so great! Katerzz, I espeically love that you are wearing the same clothes, it makes it sooo obvious that you've lost weight! you look deflated! Yay!
  13. Excellent Julie! I had my fill later than most too. Some of us are just late bloomers
  14. Wow! Officially overweight! That's great work. It makes me laugh, but great work. Can't help with the big fibroid though.
  15. Once you move to solid foods, you will have little trouble getting in your full allotment of calories. Also, please don't worry whether you are losing weight now because you are still in the healing phase. Any weight loss during this period is bonus.
  16. Thank you for letting us know Greg. Nancy, my heart goes out to you and your family in this difficult time.

the scarsdale diet. I forgot I did that one too...
  18. Here is a Bandster Self-test created by Susannah Malarkey, who used my surgeon. I hope it is helpful, and if you need, or would like it in a different format, such as Word or Excel, please give me a tell, and I'll e-mail the document to you. bandster selftest.bmp
  19. I can't speak for Teresa, but Letha, you gave me a much needed smile. This is a very difficult thread.
  20. Teresa and Robin, I'm sitting here abolutly crying for you both. My DH thinks me very calous for putting down our Tipper, because he was just a little puppy. He was turning into a dangerous animal, and my physical safety was in danger just by having him in the house. When he was a good boy, he too was just the sweetest little dog, but he was unpredictable and waking up with my chin in his jaws with him growling was more than I wanted to risk. Ever. Christina I'm crying for you too because I'm going to have to put my poor old Astro down soon. I know your heart too is broken, and I wish I could offer something more concrete than electonic words on an electronic page. I know how hard it is to read any post about dogs right now.
  21. Welcome to the BandWagon!
  22. Sensy I really sounds like you are not getting enough calories. Lots of folks like fitday.com, but you really need to track your calories for a full week. If you are getting less than 1000-1200 calories, then you will go into starvation mode. If you are active, you will need even more calories. must must must. If you don't get enough calories, you cannot lose weight safely or in a healthy manner.
  23. Wonderful! Welcome to the BandWagon Jen!
  24. yup, Lots of women have reported greater restriction around TOM. Of course, my period hasn't stopped since March...
  25. oh Trish, Honey! Just remember, you may be fat, but she's stupid. You are changing and loosing weight, but there aint no cure for stupid.
