Life after a leak...
I don't remember having diarrhea but if you feel like something is not right it's always best to consul your Dr. no matter how small you think something is. Some of the leak symptoms are things you feel just by having the surgery.

Life after a leak...
I couldn't keep anything down, had a lot of acid reflux, had a very sharp pain in my left shoulder. I jist felt very, very sick. I couldn't even stand anymore, I was very weak.

Life after a leak...
thank you so much for your response. It sounds like your time was even worse than mine, fortuanely i didn't have to have any additional surgeries, well it looks like i won't have to. Dr. decided to let it heal on its own and it seemed to hbe worked. I have another question for you, now that you're 10 months out, are you struggling with anything in particular?

Life after a leak...
Hello, all. I've been suffering with a leak for 6 months now, this has not been fun at all, I will write my story once I'm home from hopefully my last time in the hospital, I've been here for 2 weeks for an infection in my blood, this is the third time I've been hospitalized since the leak was discovered. Anyway, there's finally some light at the end of the tunnel, I no longer have a leak and had a procedure yesterday to help my stomach build some scar tissue and make the part where I had the leak stronger, next week I'll have a swallow test done and if I pass I will start on liquids. After 6 months being npo I'm really afraid of how my body will react to food again, so my question is, for those who have had a leak, how was your experience after? Did you struggle a lot at first? I tried to find a post with this info but couldn't. Any info will be greatly appreciated, I really want to know about your experience with this, thanks!

Crappy A#% Friends
If someone ever tells me I took the easy way out, idk if I'll be able to control myself. This is the hardest thing I've ever done in my life.

Crappy A#% Friends
I too have had problems with friends. I had surgery in December and have been struggling with a leak since March, only 2 if my friends keep in touch and one of them lives across the country, she even sent me a few things to entertain myself while I was in the hospital. The other one I talk to everyday and is always asking me how in doing. My best friend hadn't called or texted me in a couple of months until last week when I was hospitalized due to an infection and she didn't even offer to visit ir called to ask mr if I'm home. She has only visited me once since everything started. A few months ago she asked me if I wanted to have a picnic at the beach when I can't eat and sand could easily give me an infection, she didn't even bother to ask if I was back to normal and seemed upset when I declined. Another friend who also had the surgery seemed to care at first but hasn't made an effort to see how I'm doing now. It sucks to feel that people don't care but I guess they don't. Just wanted to share my experience with you. Hope things have gotten better with your friend.

I wish I hadn't seen this forum....
Proudgrammy Thank you for your well wishes. I saw my new surgeon (original one didn't work out too well) on tue at the er after I woke up with some blood in my spit (scary) and he said that could be a sign that my abscesses could be almost gone since it happened when my mom was flushing my drain, so I'm hoping that when I go to my appointment on monday he has a day set up for a ct scan and an endoscopy soon after, he's hoping the leak will heal itself before trying a stent. I wanna write my whole story on here but I'm waiting until it's all over so it can have a happy ending hehe

@amyinorlando good luck, don't let this scare you, unfortuanely it happens but it is rare. even though I have a leak I've lost 80 lbs and don't regret it cos I know I'll get better and will continue my journey.

@amazon13 I'm not trying to pick a fight but I take offense to your comment. I followed every single guideline to a "t" and I still got a leak. I almost died because of it and you're saying we're just complainers that don't follow guidelines? I guess you didn't have any complications cos if you did you would think completely different. Yes complications are rare but they happen and after all the crap we go through we should be allowed to "complain" without being judged. I haven't had a life for months now, I haven't eaten anything for 3 months, I have a cough that won't go away, I have to carry around a bag that is feeding me tpn 16 hours a day (I started at 24 hours), I spent almost 6 weeks in the hospital, I have a jp drain on my back that pulls everytime I cough, my back is in do much pain because of all the coughing I do, I walk around with a cup because I'm constantly spitting up really nasty phlegm, and many other things and I have no idea when this is all gonna end. So next time you make such a bad generalizations think about people you may be hurting.

Frustrated with leak
I'm the same. I still have the drain and not a lot of energy. I saw my dr on tue and he said I'll be having a ct scan in 2 weeks and if things look better hopefully s scope soon after. Keeping my fingers crossed.

online shopping
Hello all first of all, ladies, they have some really good sales going on at torrid right now. now to my rant or rave I'm not really sure what it is lol I promised myself I wouldn't buy any clothes until after my leak is healed and I've been good for 3 months but I couldn't help myself when I went on torrid.com and saw some stuff I really liked for really cheap. I ended up buying two tops size 4, a pair of shoes size 9 and some accessories, they were all clearance items and final sale. I used to be a size 5 and it was getting tight on me so I figured 4 was good. Well those shirts are huge on me! I'm happy cos that means I'm a 3 now but sad that I can't exchange them, same thing with the shoes, they are way too big. It's crazy cos I can't really see the difference until things like that happen. Idk if there is really is a point to this post, i just wanted to share with someone. I hope everyone is having a great day!

Oh and I forgot to comment about being npo, I didn't have problems with it before but since I came home I keep dreaming about food.

That's exactly how I feel too. Stupid tpn backpack. And yeah it seems like forever!

Frustrated with leak
It seems like we're in the same situation. I WA admitted into the hospital 3/24 and that's when they found out I had a leak, but I was feeling really sick for a long time before that. I'm also on tpn and have a jp drain. I actually gained 5 lbs since I started tpn. I'm pretty frustrated myself, the dr is letting my leak heal on its own too. I want to have a life again!! Oh and to top it off I'm losing my hair like crazy. I had to cut it short cos it got way too tangled in the hospital and I have a huge bald spot on the top of my head :/ but I guess as long as we are getting better we have to try and stay positive.

Oops I made no sense, I meant there seems to be only negative experiences with stents, anything positive out there?
