Low Bmi'ers...how Long To Goal?
This has been super slow for me, I think I just made 10lbs, but I had surgery 12/26, my doctor recommends, between 90-100 grams protein on soft food phase with about 500 calories... I have been at 172 for 4 days now but also started menstrual on Sunday... anyone, stall during that TOM...? I suppose again, body is adapting. Wish I were losing more, but then again, I didn't want to drop it overnight - this was one of my fears, but there are still times where I feel like... am I the only person in the world this wont work for? I know I didn't have the weight to lose like others, but since we are all Low BMI'rs, responding... maybe some of you can relate? I am only 5 foot 3.

December 28th...
I feel the same way!!!!!!!!!!! surg 12/26 , BMI was 33... I've lost 3 lbs!!!!!!!!!! WTH, my recommended intake from the RD at my surgeon (US surgeon) was 90g Protein, under 450 calories... and I have followed that to a T, and walking 2.4 miles daily... call in with the RD today to go into soft food phase... will see what she says, and report back... I have that same feeling, am I the one person this won't work for, really? Also let me say my ticker is wrong... I have not lost 12 lbs... 3 to be exact, starrted at 178, went up 10 post op due to fluids, got back to 178 about a week ago, since then 3 lbs lost... 174.6 on the scale today...

Low Bmi'ers...how Long To Goal?
Caramelbaby - I hear you sister... but I just "thought" that by day 10, I would have seen some loss... I am at 420 calories, and 91g of Protein... I know that's a hellofa lot less that preop... so why isn't it going anywhere... the only thing I can think of it's because the body is still in repair mode. IDK... I wanted to hear others thoughts... and yes, I want it to come off slowly but regularly as well...

10 days post op - no weight loss thus far...
How long after your VSG WLS did you start "losing" weight? I am 10 days post op and no weight loss... immediately after surg there was a 10 lb gain due to fluids etc... YES, that came off... at day 6 but now... nothing... when did you start losing? Were you on the scale daily?

December 28th...
Have you started losing any weight or am I just overly anxious, surgery... 12/26. I am now at "DOS - day of surgery" weight, as it took a while for the fluids to get out...

Low Bmi'ers...how Long To Goal?
Alright - does anyone remember how long post op they actually started losing? I am offically 8 days post op - and at 6 days post op I finally got to my DOS weight... because of the added pounds due to fluids, etc from hospital stay... since day 6 I haven't lost anything? Also, no BM since day prior to surg... thoughts?

33 BMI and scheduled for VG...
Lovetennis - thanks for contributing... my story is a lot like yours, and just to touch on the killing myself slowly with all the little things... I meant diet pills, supplements, shots, etc, etc... etc... NOT twinkies. I respect everyones opinions and as much as we share here - I think only "we" truly know all the rigor we have put ourselves through only to have another failed attempt and a larger weight gain. Many prayers for all on this site - I respect each and every one of you.

OMG - sched for surg 12/26 and feel the exact same way... wondering if you went through with it - what you felt like - how you feel today - etc... And yes, I am soooooo with you on the "when I'm 70's" because I have every intention of wanting to live life that long and then some... my family lives long and well - my gparents still travel... I don't want to do more harm than good - I just want to be happy with my body while doing it... BMI 33

Low Bmi'ers...how Long To Goal?
This topic is making me feel much better about surgery on 12/26.... need all the feedback I can get!

33 BMI and scheduled for VG...
I don't really have any words to respond to your post. I am grateful to hear your perspective. It scares the crap out of me... and one of the things I have discussed with my husband is - am I lowering my life expectancy by having this surgery. The goal is to be a healthy weight - stop killing my self with substances that aren't healthy either, but at the same time - I want to be an old woman someday, and hope this doesn't shorten my time here. I know this may sound irrational lDK... Not sure that it matters but where did you have surgery? I will be praying for you. How are you now? I am so sorry again.

33 BMI and scheduled for VG...
I just wanted to reply to everyone that posted here... Thank you for your candid responses and pure honesty. All of then information and feedback you provided has been a blessing. Just knowing people are out there listening and caring, makes me feel supported. I respect all of the opinions posted here. I'm still scared (but I think that's normal... it's surgery right?) But all in all - as stated above surg is scheduled for the 26th... so there it is - full speed ahead. I will keep everyone posted as soon as I can. I think the mere fact that folks have been posting as early as two days post op is a good sign. Best of luck and thank you all again. God bless...

Anyone Not Tell Family Or Friends?
Surgery scheduled for 12/26/12.... only told my family - not inlaws, husband, my 2 kids, and my absolute BFF... 36 y/o female. Have lots of aquaintances, but don't think it's any of their businesss and am not soliciting the advice or the judgement of those that know little to nothing about the procedure. I am starting with a low BMI of 33, and only I deal with my emotional rollercoaster. In my opinion people judge and just like those that say - yes go get skinny, sometimes when it happens for you - there is jealousy and that jealousy turns to persecution "well she couldn't do it without surgery..." No **** sherlock, that's why I decided to do it. Long story short - it's personal and my anticipated response to those that do ask how I did it??? Lifestyle change and healthy eating! It's the truth isn't it?
