Let's see,

When I was very young I was called "boney butt" bc I was to skinny. I was thin until college. (Although I felt fat at times in high school.) In college I ate all the wrong foods living in the dorm and I spent a lot more time sitting and studying. I was never athletic but I was in PE all through school and I stayed busy. Then college required a lot less physical activity. so i started putting on weight. My family was worried about me so they started talking to me about it. Then the rebellion began! I didn't want anyone telling me what to eat or not eat. No one telling me what to do at all. Then it became an emotionally pleasing thing too. When things were hard it was an easy fix. I could eat sweets and feel better. Then eating in general became a way I could celebrate, cheer myself up, quick fix for difficult times, basically eating was very much how I expressed a lot about how I felt and what was happening in my life. As I got older, my general weight went up. I would loose weight and then gain it back and loose it again. Up and down and up and down..the weight roller coaster, that seems to have higher highs all the time. Then I found out I had high blood pressure, still not a good enough reason to loose and keep it off. Then I was diagnosed with high cholesterol and starting my meds for that too. When I was diagnosed with diabetes that was the last straw. I was sick and tired of being over weight and I was sick a lot and really tired a lot. So, I started the process of checking into bariatric surgery. In the process, I also found out I have sleep apnea and anemia and gall stones and a really large hiatal hernia. It all just kept me determined to have the surgery. So many of these issues would be better without all the weight! I ended up having a gastric sleeve, gall bladder removed and hiatal hernia surgery all at the same time on Dec. 3 2012. I am still on the road to recovery but am doing better every day. I hope to loose enough weight and keep it off to be healthy. With God's help, all things are possible.
