    Palm Bay

Hi I'm in Palm City and was banded by Dr Rosa. Have to say i'm a little disappointed with him. I was banded in May 07 and to date have lost 50lbs. Have had about 4fills. Last one was in February and have not heard from him since. Should I keep calling them (even though I don't feel i need another fill yet!) or should I wait for him to contact me to schedule a routine appt?
  2. :help:I was banded in May this year. I was 263 and am now 237. I have plateaued since June and stuck at around 240. However, the curious thing is that although the numbers on the scale don't seem to be moving much - I do feel like I've lost inches and am now able to get into smaller clothes. Has anyone else experience this? I am a little disheartened about the weight loss. I started the WW diet last week and writing everything down and sticking to my 28 points per day. I'm certainly eating less than I was before I was banded, and after 2 fills (in my 10cc band) I still get hungry but when I sit down to eat a meal I find food still gets stuck and I can't eat any more. Then I feel that I've ben cheated out of my meal and after an hour I am hungry again. The qustion is do I go for another fill to make it 3cc's and risk food getting stuck even earlier into my meal or do I continue as I am on this crazy plateau. I wish someone could give me a clue as to what is happening. Whilst I am happy to get into smaller sizes, and I know that the numbers on the scale shouldn't matter that much - I still want to see smaller numbers!!
  3. Hi everyone, I had my 10cc band in May. After the surgery I was doing really well and lost 21lbs. I was so happy and thought that maybe by next May I would be well on my way to my goal weight. However, 4 months down the road and I've still only lost 21lbs!!! I have had 2 fills and feel no restriction at all. If I was at goal it would be great to finally know that I can maintain my weight - but I'm not and I have at least another 70lbs to go!!!! I asked my doctor last time if he could maybe give me a 2cc fill this time, but he said no-one had ever asked for that before and he was not prepared to do that in case I had problems. Having read some of the other threads I understand it can take up to 7cc's to feel some restriction. Based on this info, it could potentially take me up until Feb 08 before I feel restriction!! I am so frustrated and disheartened that I have started the Weight Watchers Diet. I know that the lap band is not meant to be an instant solution, but I didn't expect to be stuck at this weight for so long. I can eat everything (although certain foods like rice and bread do stick - but I eat them anyway!!) I was hoping the lap band would make me not think about food - but now I'm back on the WW diet, all I do is plan meals and contantly think of food. Please help :help: has anyone else out there got the same problem.

    Started the Weight Watchers Diet!!!!

I'm not paying to attend a weekly class. I'm using my old literature and point counting cards to do it. I can't afford to go to a weekly weigh in - so am trying to have the discipline on my own.
  5. Hi, I'm nearly 5 weeks post op and I still have trouble eating certain foods. I am due to have my first fill on 12th July - but not sure if I need it yet. Can anyone out there tell me if they still have trouble eating bread and steak. I sneaked a bacon roll earlier this evening (whilst cooking them for my son's tea) and even though I chewed till mush it ended up really sticking and then coming back up!! I also find the same thing happens with steak (even though I chew really well!) although I do eventually manage to digest it! I've been really lucky so far and this was the first time that I pb'd. I would have thought that bread would have gone down easily - but I guess not! I've lost a total of 15lbs since surgery and seem to have lost interest in food at the moment. I actually quite like the feeling of not constantly thinking about food. It's quite a novelty but is this normal?
  6. :welldoneclap: I was banded on May 8th and so far have lost a total of 21lbs - which I am very happy about. Here's the thing though - I am going away to UK for 3 weeks on 18th June to visit family, and attend a wedding and my doctor has said that he thinks it's probably a good idea not to have a fill before I go incase I have any problems when I'm over there. I noticed on some of the threads that some people had their first fills at 4 weeks and others not until about 8 weeks. I'm just worried that if I don't have a fill, I will not have any restriction and begin to put weight on when I'm over in England. What should I do?
  7. :help:Can anyone out there tell me what headache tablets i can take. I don't suffer regularly with headaches - but I've recently been on a plane and think I've got the beginnings of a cold ie., scratchy throat and achy limbs, headache etc Just wondered what the best painkiller was to use? I appreciate any responses! Thanks
  8. I was banded on May 8th and an doing ok (I think!) Did my two weeks of clear liquids and now am on mushy foods. I did sneak a few potato chips earlier today and was fine....... however, now (about 2hours later) I feel as though there is a golf ball sitting in my chest and a pain in my left side like stitch. Anyone else out there experience anything like this?
  9. :faint: I have been on mushies for about 5 days now and was so happy with my weight loss so far( I'd lost 16lbs since starting the liquid diet pre-op) ......... then I weighed myself this morning only to discover that I'm up 2lbs. To say I was gutted was an understatement. I don't want to become a bathroom scale neurotic and weigh myself every day - but has anyone else discovered that they have put on a little weight during this time? I suppose logically it was bound to happen, but was hoping I would just maintain until my first fill. I was banded on 8th May and am due to go away on 19th June, can anyone out there tell me whether I'll be able to have my first fill before I go? I will have been banded 6 weeks by then. After the first fill does the doc need to see you again in a few days to check how it's going or are you left to your own devices?

Any suggestions for the creamy stage?

Have you tried cream of wheat? You can eat yoghurts, progresso soups because the veggies are soft, (just remember to chew really well!) You could try scrambled eggs, omelettes, mashed potato, ice cream (but watch the calories!) Just a few suggestions for you to try

    Golf ball in my chest!!

It's good to know that I'm not the only one!!! Thanks you guys. Guess it's all trial and error with the whole eating then!!
  12. :help: Hi, I'm Julie from Florida and had my surgery on May 8th. 1 week on and I don't feel too bad. Still sore on the inside and my stomach feels like its being held together with an elastic band and if I stretch it will pop!! Still getting indigestion-like feelings and gassy bloatedness. Is this normal? My doctor says I can start Protein shakes if I want to but don't know if this is helping the bloated situation, but I am so bored with Jello, popsicles and juice!! Did everyone have to do the heparin shots for 10 days after the procedure? I've being doing quite well so far but am running out of places to put them and it has started to hurt when I inject myself. Any thoughts on this would be helpful.

    Melbourne, Florida

Hi I'm in Palm City, (further south of you). I was banded on May 8th and still on liquids at the moment. Not as sore as I was and each day gets a little easier. Am still having problems with pains between the shoulder blades though - feels like indigestion!! Don't really know how to avoid it. Continously sipping water and diluted juices!

    Heparin Shots

I'm actually taking 5000 units every 8 hours! and I am covered in bruises. I'm not on bedrest and do get up and walk around, take the dogs out (not quite up to exersing yet!) It is becoming incerasingly difficult to do these shots
