  1. Cleared by cardio all I have left is pulmonary next week. I'm having cold feet! Everyone including doctors are looking at me like you can do this on your own.. You don't need surgery!!! Ugh I'm so confused!
  2. Hi has anyone switched jobs while in the process of barbaric surgery? I've been going to my 6 month weight management meetings and I still have cardio , pulmonary , Phyc and 2 meetings to go through in order to have surgery. I'm switching jobs soon and might have to apply for Medicaid . Anyone have any advice on what I should do?
  3. Does anyone have any info on long term usage if vitamins (iron) after VsG & chances of getting stomach ulcers? Just curious
  4. I haven't had my surgery yet. Hopefully end of August . I'm worried about my iron being low though. The nurse says it may be due to "aunt flow" lol but I can't stop being worried . I should be starting some prescribed iron and vitamin d the surgeon wants me to take for 12 weeks and see how my blood work looks after that. I never suffered from iron deficiency till these last 10 years...
  5. So I had my blood work done and I received a call from my surgeons nurse saying that I should start taking iron and vitamin d supplements because they are both low. I'm confused as to what is a normal iron and vitamin D anyone know? And will this cause any issues with the surgery? I'm kinda worried
  6. Yes. The Bronx. I've been seeing dr choi I love the hospital. Just wanted to know if anyone was having or has their surgery there and how it went with them..
  7. Any from montifiore?
  8. So I had an abdominal ultra sound today and they found a gallstone. Will this slow my whole process of getting WLS ?
  9. I'm tired and need a vacation and want to plan a Miami getaway . I haven't been on a plane for 18 years! and seriously need to get over the scare! But now I'm scared i won't fit in the chair...
  10. I'm in the middle of pre-opt testing for VSG and im doing some research on the vagus nerve. For about 10 years I've had this weird thing happen to me from time to time. At times I can be walking fast or lifting something or just plan eating something and I feel this weird fluttering around my cheat and stomach. Sometimes it feels like something smacks into my esophagus and at the same time my heart beat changes and this happens so quick, like less then a Minute. Sometimes it leaves me out of breath , short of breath, at times I think it's it may be taquicardia. It's scary. When it happens I have to move around or drink water to feel better. At times I'm short of breath and after that have a BM and it feels like it was gas and I have to pass. The fluttering Also happens around or before my period. So I don't know if its a change in hormone levels, weight, or heart problem. I weigh 318 pounds and have a "small" hiatal hernia(don't know if its gotten bigger) also I have sever GERD. I'm looking into VSG because I'm not ok with RNY and all the complications . I was researching and started reading about the vagus nerve and the symptoms all sound suspect but then again they all mimic the same symptoms, GERD , hiatal hernia Etc. has anyone gone through this and had VSG ? Can anyone give me advice on what to do about getting tested (what kind of test to ask for) and or of its ok to have the VSG with vagus nerve disorder? Thanks
  11. Wish u all the luck god bless and feel better ! Just make your officially on the losers side!!!
  12. Having my first pulimonary consult and wondering what kind of tests they going to run on me. Can anyone tell me what to expect?
  13. How long did your doctor tell u to weight after surgery?
  14. I'm in the process of having vSG and I'm having a lot of people tell me that it's better to have a baby before the surgery then after. I'm 38 years old and want to have one more baby but I'm worried about putting more weight on my frame and possibly having a high risk pregnancy. I'm 318 pounds .
  15. They'll make u drink the chalky drink and lay u facing up on the "bed" and tell u as you drink to move on your side and then again to the other side . Simple. They did say there's a bit of radiation in the chalky drink.
  16. For how long to we have to worry about leaks?
  17. I'm getting my first h pylori test by blood. If I test positive what would the next steps be?
  18. Well I'm closer and closer to surgery. Happy but can't stop being scared & worried at the same time. I was given a packet with all the things that I have to get done by my last nutricionist app. 1- blood work 2- 6 months of weight management which I already have done 3/6 , 3- have to attend 2 support group meetings ( can't wait to see what that's about) 4- physc appointment 5- ultrasound of stomach? And gallbaldder? Wondering what their looking for with the ultra sound 6- pulmonary consult (curious to know how that's going to be never had it) and 7- cardiology consult wondering if he's going to make me have a stress test or what the consult is about. All this has to be done in the next 3 months. Can anyone tell me how the ultra sound test goes and what they look for as well as the cardiology & pulmonary consult... Thanks
  19. Anyone suffer from IBS and had the sleeve done?
  20. Reflux is one thing and gall bladder is another. Ho did they associate the acid with gallbladder?
  21. @tina so sorry about the gastroparesis . How long till u find out the results of the endoscopy? wow I have bad reflux and the doctor told me that the sleeve would make my reflux worse and I'm not ok with bypass too much rerouting and two stomachs? Come on now... Smh I don't know. I just would hate to make a decision that would maybe turn out a BAD decision in the long run. On my 3rd weight management appointment Hoping I can get some clarity on this whole weightloss surgery..
  22. 3rd weightloss management appointment . Last on should be in may and from there I guess it's testing and then surgery. I love the vibe @ montifiore . I didn't get that same vibe from Lenox hospital . Dr. Choi is excellent although I've heard dr. Valupani is great as well. This has been a thinking time for me. Part of me is worried something might go wrong after surgery being that this kind of surgery is NEW. Hopefully the closer I get to approval the more convince ill be that this is reality and its going to happen and it should. I wish I had the strength to lose on my own being that I've never gone on a full blown diet and given my body the chance to lose the weight on its own. Anyway wish the best to everyone that's made the decision of getting sleeved and may god be with all of us in this journey , after and always. ❤
  23. I'm from chelsea New York. Currently seeing dr. Choi @ montifiore in the Bronx . Nice meeting you guys..
  24. Hey.. That's great and very happy for you. My insurance is CIGNA and 6 Months weight management is mandatory for approval. Sucks but at the same time it gives me time to really think things out , also giving a last chance to lose weight on my own because this is life changing and there's no going back. Scared of waking up and seeing a different me after almost 20 years of being overweight/obese . I'm seeing doctor Choi and montifiore and everyone tells me she's great. I have a co workers wife that had her surgery done by Choi back in October and has lost 75 pounds already. With no complications . The staff at montifiore are great. Live the hospital so clean just gives you a peaceful thing about it. A year ago I was trying to go to Lenox and saw dr Roseline which was al Rokers bariatric surgeon but something about him just didn't sit well with me so I decided to give montifiore a try and so far I haven't regretted anything . I have four more months of weight management and I believe after that they start the pre-op testing and submit to insurance . I believe maybe by the summer I should be done with the whole thing and living a new ME life! Lol I wish u the best in your journey and hopefully we meet each other some day at the hospital! Keep in touch
