What foods do you no longer like?

Wine and coffee are now horrible, however I have now discovered that potato chips are irresistible and are no longer allowed in the house, never used to like them pre-surgery.
  2. I am exactly where you are! I reached goal today and am suddenly realizing that I spent my whole life either losing weight or gaining weight and now I'm kinda feeling lost and thinking I'm not sure what I do next.I guess its all part of the journey:)) Good luck to you and congratulations!!

I just cant do it /:

Congrats on your decision to get sleeved!! I also had a difficult time with the shakes and the other drinks. I found the juice types all tasted like protein and the powders never fully dissolved and the premade where too thick and sweet (even as a child I didn't like milkshakes). After many different shakes I found EAS advantEdge Carb Control at Walmart, they are only 4.97 for a pack of 4 and they are not overly sweet or thick and they are premade. I found the strawberry to be the best at first but now I can drink all the flavors. They are not as high in protein as most but they are low in calories so I just drink and extra one if I need to later. I still use them at breakfast even 7 out. They have 17g of protein, 3g carbs and 100-110 cals depending on the flavor. Good luck on your journey:))

    Im scared/ sorry TMI

I also started the day before I left and it was not an issue. I was even able to leave a pad and my underwear on once I explained to the nurse.
  5. Sleeved Nov. 12/12, start weight 330(Oct. 30), surgery weight 311(Nov. 12) current weight 203. feeling fantastic and healthy for the first time in years. Looking forward to being a healthy Grandma for my first grandbaby arriving in July. I found out about him the day after getting home from surgery and it seemed like a sign that I had made the right decision about my WLS. I don't think I could have enjoyed him as much as the new healthier me is going too:)

    Dr. Ponce de Leon?

I am from Ontario, Canada and all of my after care was covered by our health care. I even had an emerg. visit and a scope done and there was no issue with where my surgery was done. I just set up an appt. with my own doctor and he put a referral in with a local surgeon to do my follow up care when I got home. Good luck:)
  7. I was 330lbs when I flew to Mexico to have my surgery. The seats where very snug and I had to have a seatbelt extender but I did fit. I was terrified of flying (it actually made me cry!)but when I choose to have surgery I had to come to terms with it as I had 3 flights each way. I am not sure if it was doing 6 flights in 4 days or what but for some reason my fear of flying has gone. So much so that I have booked a holiday and leave for Ireland in 9 days. Best of all, this time I will fit the seat with no extension required! Best of luck with your surgery and don't worry about the flying, it's so worth it in the end!
  8. A friend of mine had By-pass surgery and she was told that she wasn't able to consume wild game anymore. Does anyone know if the same thing applies to VSG surgery?
  9. Yes, for most of us it does get better. For myself it wasn't so much how I looked but it was how I felt. I feel incredibly healthy now. I can do things that I haven't been able to do in years. I am so happy with my choice to have WLS. I'm not saying that I don't have moments when I really miss being able to dive into a great big hunk of prime rib, but those are just moments that are far outweighed by my increased mobility and overall feeling of health. Hang in there, it should get better soon:)
  10. Although I have spent at least some part of every day reading on this site, it is the first time I have replied. I could have got insurance coverage for surgery, but being Canadian it would have meant a couple years of hoop jumping. I lost my brother and sister to weight related issues he was 42 and she was 45yrs old. My only choice was going to Mexico which my family still doesn't know about (they think I had it done in San Diago) It meant 4 airports and 3 plane rides in each direction, and a trip across the Mexican boarder, and being by my self for the whole journey/surgery. It was the first time I had ever been by myself for more then a night in my own home. After all that and the self pay I would still have to answer with ABSOLUTELY YES!!!! I got home and 2 weeks later I was told I was going to be Grandma for the first time and and at the end of May I will be taking a solo trip around Ireland, England and Wales (a gift from my husband). These are things I can only enjoy now that I am healthier, so don't wait if you have any choice, because time is passing:)
