I have to do a 3 month diet and thought they would accept weight watchers but no because it was not supervised. That was in oct. I completed that yesterday and they should be resubmitting this week. I was also denied because didn't have all info n letter required from my PCP got that also. So question is does anyone know how long it takes when it gets sent back? Is it a new submittal or a appeal or what? The coordinator had left for the day yesterday so I have to wait until Monday to find out. So much want approval this week do I can hopefully have surgery in February! Worried my insurance may change 1 march. Currently have GWH Cigna!

@Cheri... Thanks makes sense. I had my EGD teo weeks ago and they found a little erosion and put me on Prilosec. He told me to continue taking until my surgeon tells me to stop. I wondered why if it was mild I had to take so long. Don't have a surgery date yet will be submitted on about two weeks for approval. I'm do ready!!!

My insurance required a 3 month FAIL disciplinary diet. Therefore I didn't try real hard to lose weight but I also cut out diet drinks and I feel that is a huge accomplishment! I have my final weigh on the 25th and then they will submit for approval.

I like to add my 3 month supervised diet required by Cigna states I must Fail. So be careful font lose weight!! Just saying..

I think as long as u have EVERYTHING then it shouldn't be a problem. When they denied the letter outlined everything required and which requirements were not met. Just wish I had contacted then on the beginning then I wouldn't have been crushed when I was denied. My BMI is 41 and I have high cholesterol n blood pressure but the BMI alone qualifies me. Also my denial is because of two requirements not met. I'm not concerned I know I'll have it all by end of January. As long as the letters has everything required and ur 3 month weight management program has all required info u will be APPROVED. If not they will deny but will let u know what is needed.

I also have Cigna my paperwork was submitted and one week later denied. This was last month. The denial letter stated I had not met their requirement for three month supervised program which was true. I thought n was told by surgeons office they would accept weight watchers. Well they do put if supervised by dietician or doctor. Also they stated I hadn't submitted letter from another doctor recommending surgery, Ian's giving clearance. I did have letter from PCP but apparently it was not good enough. I contacted my PCP n she I hope will call cigna to see what is needed. I had originally started a three month supervised program because I thought I had too so this was actually a good thing I will finish that on 18jan. Have to see behavioral, get revised ltr and hopefully will get approved!! I hope so I'm starting g to eat everything in site n at the rate I'm going ill be 20 pounds by end of January !!!

@noonie thanks for ur reply n I information. I do bot work for the postal service but a government contractor. I'm sure that doesn't matter much. I got my denial letter which states that medically necessary was not meant because of the three month supervised program and they provided what needed to be in the notes and also a separate medical evaluation from another doctor recommending surgery and states it is medically necessary. So I will submit again n mid January and if dwindling I will take action.

Wow never heard of a home kit before. I had my study and knew I didn't have sleep apnea WRONG! Got my machine and hate it. Hope the apnea goes away after surgery. No date yet still doing the three month disciplinary diet. Good luck with ur test.

So the program I'm doing is with a NUT not my PCP so do I think that's acceptable?

Well actually I had started a three month supervised program in October and on the second month when I arrived they said I could use WW however I still attended the class because of the distance I travelled. So third class is 18dec but the 90 days won't be over until middle of January. I guess it could be worst. Now I can slow down for Christmas n New Years.

I was denied! Would not accept my weight watechers because it was not supervised!!

I was denied by CIGNA today. So disappointed, i wanted to cry at my desk. But i was almost sure that they wouldnt accept my weight watchers logs/letter since it wasnt physician supervised. Did you have to do that also. My surgeon's office has a 3 and 6 month program that i actually started last month (thanks goodness) so i will completed that middle of January. But i think something is also wrong with the letter my PCP provided according to the CIGNA rep i spoke with. I'm really hating this and am sooooooooooooooo frustrated. Best of luck to both of you!! I have CIGNA Open Access Plus which is associated with CIGNA Great West which is on the back of the card. My package was submitted on 26 November and denied today! Yes i'm devastated but they havent heard the last from me. They didnt accept my Weight Watchers because it wasnt physician supervised. So i'm participating in a 3 month disciplinary program at my surgeon's office. I hope that flys. But i called CIGNA today to ensure there was nothing else and they said they need a letter from a doctor other then the surgeon recommending surgery. Not understanding this because a letter from my PCP should have been sent and it clearly states she recommends it. Oh well I actually originally started the 3 month program last month so i will be finish middle of January. Just worried that my insurance may change!! Good luck!

I found out today mine was submitted on Monday so I called my insurance to get status and was told the surgery date was the 20th Dec. told me if was pending and clinical notes had been added on Tuesday n Wednesday. I can't stand the waiting! Wishing u much luck n a fast response.

After seeing my surgeon for my first consult he sent a letter to my PCP discussing my intent for the sleeve. His ltr stated I would not b able to take pills and to determine if they could be crushed and if not change my medication to one that could. U should not stop without first consulting with ur PCP.

When I go to the bathroom able to bend all the way down and back to wipe myself appropriately!!!!!

I have chosen Dr. Moazzez, Fairfax,Va Bluepoint Surgical Group. Wanting to hear comments of him and his staff, experiences etc.

Thanks! Ok the nurse said they will accept it I guess I'll find out soon. But the office that I'm going to offered a three and six month program also. I did the first one which actually part of the NUT program and went to the second meeting then found out I didn't need it because of WW records. They didn't charge me so if they submit in next week and turn me down I can do third month with them n get approved. Okay in kinda of bummed now. Also worried my insurance may change in March n new insurance may not cover it.

I'm starting to stress out worried I won't get approved. Dr office waiting for eval from my psychologist then she can submit. I was required 3 month program n got Orr from weight watcher with weigh ins. Is this going to work. Has anyone with this I insurance get approved on first try???
