  1. Hey Marquel, let me know how your surgery went. I want to know about other peoples experience with Dr. Rod too. I'm trying to talk my sister in to getting the surgery, but she's hard to budge.
  2. I feel ya girl, I scheduled mine back in September, but it'll be here sooner than you know it.
  3. No problem, when are you having surgery?
  4. Hey all, sorry I didn't update you sooner. Anywho, it all went great!! I arrived Wednesday night and the driver Alberto, picked me up in a black Lexus. Now that's not the normal car they use it's actually Joanne the owner's car. I think someone else was using the Blue Van. He took me across the border with not problems. That night I sat down at a taco stand with the owner in Mexico and she bought me my last meal before my operations the next morning. It was so nice!! Being outside in Mexico enjoying some taco's and just talking with Joanne. She really put my mind at ease about the operation and she was even there when I woke up post-op. She's a real sweet woman. Don't believe what you here people say about Mexico. I didn't get to see Dr. Rod that much, but he's really busy. He stopped in my room before the surgery and asked me if I had any questions and I also saw him before I left the hospital. If you have any questions for you he will stop and answere them though. I couldn't really think of anything and Joanne had pretty much told me everything I needed to know. She stayed at the hospital with me and the other patients until the last day. I was really happy she did that since I had came to Mexico by myself. The nurses were great they took really good care of me. I saw like 5 different doctors. They all kept checking on me and I saw them everyday. Some were kind of cute too, lol. Anywho, I made some friends while I was in the hospital as well. The ladies who were there were real nice. It was nice to have someone there going through the same things you're going through. I saw Dr. Elmo who is Dr. Rod's assistant during the surgery, I saw him more than I saw Dr. Rod. Dr. Elmo answered more of my questions when I could think of some. He was really nice as well. Although, some of the nurses didn't speak good english or couldn't speak any english at all. I always got my needs met without to much complication. On my last day though when they were taking me to the airport, they got me there to late and I missed my flight. I told Joanne and she had Jamie who handles financials at belite. My air provider got me on another flight the next day and Jamie paid for my hotel and cab fees. Which was great so I didn't loose any money. All in all everything went great. As for being sleeved, the first day out of the operations was pretty rough. The gas pains and being post-op made me real uncomfortable, but I had to realized I did just have major surgery done. The second day I didn't feel to much better. I was really in pain, but the gas they filled me with when they operated on my tummy was real bothersome. I walked a lot, they said it would help relieve a lot of the gas pain, but no matter what I did it seemed as though it wasn't getting any better. I even took gas-x strips people on this forum had recommended it and that it would help. That was just a whole lot of bull because the day of surgery and the day after I was taking them and it wasn't doing a thing. I had the surgery Thursday, so Thursday and Friday were the roughest days for me. By Saturday though, I was feeling much better. By Monday, I was feeling so good I even went to class (I'm in college right now.). Now I'm one week and one day post-op and I feel just fine. Hope this helped guys!
  5. I am right there with ya!! I was contemplating for the last 2 days if I made the right decisions. However, there were some girls at the hospital who had came with their friends to have surgery and they had had surgery themselve(I hope you still with me. lol). They told me that feeling was normal and that they went through it as well and that it will pass. They said in like six months I'll forget all about this and be so glad I went through with the surgery. Anywho, right after surgery was the hardest for me. I felt like hell, and the next day wasn't to much better. However, on my second day post op, I felt so much better! And today I feel pretty good too!! The spot were my drain is kind hurts sometimes like when I get up and the incision were they took my stomach out hurts when I move around to much too. But for the most part I'm feeling pretty good. Good enough to go see "Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn Part 2". lol, However, I think I have more of a psychological disorder with food because everytime I see people eating good food, I wish that I could. But then I realize how much it will upset my stomach and I think "naw nevermind". lol Well I hope you all are doing better. Best of luck
  6. Stick it out!! Remember why you are doing this and if you have to get assertive with some people then so be it!
  7. Thx girl, I will definitely follow up with you. Now I just need to talk myself into getting on the plane tomorrow, lol. I have heard nothing, but great things about Dr. Rod not one negative comment. The only thing is that when I call Teri it can be kind of hard to get ahold of her, but I always end up talking to her when in a couple of hours or that same day, lol. I actually have kind of been blowing her phone up because my family is driving me crazy with all their questions and all this your are gonna die mess. So in turn I been a nervous, freaked out mess. lol, I am just hoping for the best. I know all the reasons for why I'm doing this and everyday I just keep that in mind which is driving me to pursue this journey. No one has to live this life, but me and I need to make the best out of it. Will be in contact girl!! Toodles!!
  8. Thx so much, I am going through Beliteweight and my doctor is Dr. Rodriquez. I leave Wednesday night and I come back on Saturday. This was the best option for me financially so I did my research decided Mexico would be my best option. I'm going alone so I'm real nervous. I just hope everything goes smoothly with no problems.
  9. Hey hey, Thx and good luck to you all as well!! I leave to Mexico tomorrow Wednesday 11/14 and return Saturday 11/17. My nerves are awful. I will definitely keep in touch and let you know how I am. It will be a real good thing to keep in touch so that we can help each other through this experience. I have been second guessing myself all week, but then I remember all of the reasons for why I am doing this and then I start to feel better. I know why I am doing this and so do you just keep that in mind and you will be okay. I am still nerves though, lol. Toots!!

  13. Sleevers!! I'm getting sleeved in Mexico on Thursday!! I'm real scared!! My mom decided that it would be a good idea to call me and put the fear of God inside me 2 days before my surgery. Ugh, have any of you guys gone to Mexico for your surgeries?! If so how was it? Did you feel safe/unsafe? Did everything go as planned with no complications? If so, what happened. Any advice and opinions would help!! I'm real scared now and I don't want to chicken out because mama decided to put all these doubts in my head, but I'm freaking out now and I don't know what to do. I can barely contain myself, I can expect minimal amount of sleep for the next few days. So sleevers!! Any advice for me? Will the pain be bad? I also go to school and I'm trying to go back to class on Monday, how will that be? Also, when did you guys start doing any physical activity? 20. Hello all, on Thursday November 15, 2012 I will be officially sleeved!! It has been a long time coming and it is finally here. I feel like I am about to open up a new chapter in my life. I can't wait to feel comfortable doing the things I've always wanted to do like wearing a cute little mini dress of going to the beach in a BIKINI. That would be amazing or how about even doing the everyday things like riding in those tight seats on the airplane and amusement park rides. I can't wait for my clothes to start loosing up on me because right now they are kind of tight, lol. I can't wait to finally wear shorts without feeling mortified that my thighs look all jiggly and gross. Most of all, I just can't wait to finally feel comfortable with myself and the skin that I'm in. I'm in college right now and finishing my last semester, so I will be missing a few days of school. I hope my recovery time won't be too long because my plan is to go back to class on Monday. Any advice for me? My soon to be fellow sleevers. What to expect? Will the pain be bad? How long do I have to wait before doing physical activity, like playing basketball? Wish me luck all!!!
  21. lol, you're not alone.
  22. I'm right there with you guys. Boy oh boy do I hate pain. However, the positives out way them for me. I can't wait for my surgery so I can stop being afraid of living the way I want to live.

  25. WOW! Thanks everyone for the comments. I'm actually feeling really nervous now. I don't want to loose my hair! I'm hoping I get lucky and won't loose any or not to much.
