Banded at St. Francis
I don't know when my date is but I think I'll find out this week. Keep me updated on how your surgery I goes. I want to go to a support group with people from dr. oh's office in it. I want to know their experience. Have you been to one? Keep me update on your surgery/experience/progress. I hope everything goes well for you. evilah

Before and after pictures
Wondering what I will look like naked when the weight is gone, and want to see under what conditions people choose plastic surgery. I'm sure others are in the same situation. Also, good chance to show off your new hot body!~

Having Babies after the Band!
I read a couple of studies about this-- one said that banders have fewer c sections and gain less weight than overweight people (presumable people whoe need the band), another said that banders didn't have anymore complication than regular weight non-banded people I want to have another child also.

3 years post op its great but developed lower stomach problems
some of my family members have hardcore constipation problems. Drink more water and if you make sauces or soups just add apple pectin. It thickens the soup and keeps you moving. Also try vega or ultimate meal... liquid meal replacements that keep you moving. (No whey, which blocks you up, and counteracts the effect of fiber. that's my experience)

June 2007 Bandsters
My surgery isn't scheduled yet, but it looks like I'll have it in June. I've already started the process, my pre-surgery endoscopy is this Friday. (Unless I cancel it because I've decided to change doctors LOL~!) Evilah

Depression after surgery?!
- Lower Body Lift Fun!
Just to clarify, I meant, do you think guys capitalize on the fact that you used to be big, and while you look great, sense that you may be vulnerable because of the huge change that's happened to you, that you may still have the mind frame of someone not so attractive?- Lower Body Lift Fun!
Hi! Just wanted to say some things I remembered about dating, maybe it will help you out. I lost about 40 llbs before I met my husband, and was then 70 pounds lighter than I am now. But I remember before I lost that 40 lbs., going out with my girlfriends, and not looking, just wanting to have fun and joke and laugh all night, and guys would give me the fat girl routine. They wouldn't say it outright but it seemed like what they were thinking was that they were better looking than me, and that I would be easy because of that. So they'd hit on me, and take liberties with me, and disrespect me, and be dishonest with me in ways they wouldn't to thinner/more attractive girls. I fell for it a few times before I realized what was going on, that I wasn't getting taken seriously because I was fat, and that guys were capitalizing on that fact. I knew I was fat, but didn't see myself as fat, I still had the self-worth of a skinny person, the one I used to be. In fact, a fellow "fat-girl" explained the phenomenon to me because I had dated so little as a fat person. You know what's the worst? A gay girl gave me the fat-girl routine once! Can you believe that? Do these guys know about your old self? Do you think you ever get the fat-girl routine? (not taken seriously, but taken for granted) If I could just give you a big dose of snobby, skinny girl, no one's good enough for me attitude over the internet, I would. You certainly deserve the best and deserve to be true to yourself and deserve to be respected and valued and loved. It's not the best attitude to have, but it would certainly serve as a defense. When you're good looking, It's so hard to be kind, and fun, and friendly to people (men) without getting a massive attracted response. best wishes -Evilah- Sleep Apnea
you know, when your doctor prescribes a bipap, because you can't use and don't like the cpap, you just ASSUME that the machine is properly set by professionals to act like a bipap, and reduce the pressure during exhalation. (I think it's pretty standard for people who have higher pressure to have a bipap, my grandfather does, but my mom who uses a lower pressure uses a cpap). I'M SO MAD! ! ! ! -Evilah- Sleep Apnea
Today, after reading through some sleep apnea threads, I decided to give my machine anothe rtry. (I've had this particular machine since april of 2005, so over 2 years-- during which I've repeatedly tried to make it work for me, it's a bipap machine) I read about it on the internet and tried to figure out why I felt like it was choking or smothering me while I was sleeping. I checked the exhalation pressure-- it was cranked all the way up to 11 !!! After all of this time trying to use it, calling the center, GOING to the sleep center, meeting with RT's. What are those people? RETARDED? So I made a makeshift chin strap and turned the exhalation pressure all the way down, and took a nap. The first time ever that I successfully went to sleep and woke up with the machine still on and feeling okay, feeling great actually, because I got to sleep on my back, which I love to do and haven't done in years-- because I breathe better on my side with pillows anchoring my top shoulder down and away from my neck. Evilah- EVILAH IS APPROVED! (and how)
Thanks! Now, after approval, I'm having a terribly tough time deciding what doctor to go to.- Any one in NW WA
dawneb, what doctors did you check out? I'm stuck right now deciding between dr. hirai/oh and montgomery or miachelson at northwest weight loss surgery. It almost makes me want to try losing weight on my own again! LOL! And my insurance has already given written pre-authorization!!!! Why did you choose dr. srikanth? -Evilah- "Northenders" (North of Seattle)
I didn't know there was a support group that meets at evergreen!! I'm tentatively getting banded at st. francis, where did you get banded? Private message me if you'd like to make a time to meet for coffee. How are you doing? Are you still in pain? Big change isn't it? I'm so nervous! Evilah- Vegetarian Protein
I've found vega and ultimate meal to be very filling and energizing. ultimate meal is about half the price of vega. I'm actually not a vegan but whey and soy protein are GROSSS! And they seem poisonous. Soy estrogens and god knows what in conventional whey. I only consume organic dairy products, and mostly from organic valley. Baltic, insubordination, how is pure advantage and ladybird? Does it give you lots of energy?- Let's go fem for a bit
i se bare escentuals too. I had given up makeup altogether, because I have decent skin and makeup would make me breakout. Bare escentuals is great as long as I wash it off with a gentle soap before bed. (I know they say you can wear it to bed, but if I do that more than once in a while, I breakout)- LB is pissing me off
I just short of skimmed through this thread, because of LB on top. I just wanted to report my many awful experiences with lane bryant retail store. 1. I worked at two different ones. The first one was okay, but discriminated against me because I was white. This may sound outrageous, or unbelievable, but it is true. Check my postscript. The second store sucked generally all around, no discrimination, but the managers were jerks (ladies) and very careless and irresponsible. I quit after being denied a vacation day that I requested and was approved for MONTHS in advance. Why? Because she "lost my paper and forgot". 2. The service at three different stores (in addition to the ones I worked at) has been frequently atrocious. Store a mess, no one around, long lines, not enough cashiers, rude salespeople. 3. They screw up their advertisements and misrepresent on sales frequently. 4. I have had 3 pairs of their stretch jeans pull apart from what looks like dry rot after a month or so of use. No bleach, not too tight, no reason for them to do this. So I go to the Avenue and hope I can lose enough weight not to need to shop at fat stores anymore. Sometimes I think that corporate owners understaff those stores on purpose because the market is cornered, not so much supply, lots of demand for cute retail plus sizes. You can get a size 10 anywhere. But if you want a size 22 in a cute fashion that fits well and isn't outdated, choices are limited. I think they know there are lots of fat women who will pay alot and put up with alot because there are no other choices. My mom always said to try to say at least one thing good about someone (or some organization) if you can, so here it is: Lane Bryant's stretch tees are made of nice fabric, last a long time, are made in a variety of styles and colors, and are frequently on sale. I still occasionally run in there, if I walk by, and there's a good sale on plain stretch tshirts. Evilah ps I had an immaculate employee history, and was really friendly, and overheard the manager say to the assistant manager that another employee would be given more hours because they thought she could bring in more black customers, even though my sales were higher and I was a more reliable employee. !!!!!! I didn't fight it, I just kept quiet and then moved to another store. Is that discrimination? I think it was. I told a thin girl who worked at the second store, and she voiced similar complaints about being given less hours because she couldn't wear the stores' clothes to advertise and customers couldn't "relate" to her. I also chatted up a gay male employee who said he loved working there, and was very happy with the management.- Vegetarian Protein
"Vega" and "Ultimate Meal" Both tasty, and mostly sustainable, organice, kosher, and both all vegan.- Sick from Weight Loss
It's true "was a bubble butt" some of the same symptoms could mean the body is rejecting the band, or that there is erosion or something-- that the band is the problem, not the toxins.- Let's go fem for a bit
Carlene, It's awesome that your dh is pro pubic hair. Sometimes it creeps me out when guys like women totally bare. It makes me wonder if they might be a pedophile. I'm not accusing anyone, it just makes me wonder, too close to to what a child looks like, you know? my husband likes a "landing strip", which is similar to having well manicured eyebrows, and still looks womanly, not childish, so I'm okay with that. I have a little girl and I'm always trying to protect her, so maybe Im' oversensitive about the pedophile thing!!! Maybe I can understand normal men who like it bare, but my husband doesn't so I try not to think about it. Evilah.- EVILAH IS APPROVED! (and how)
Actual chart notes. Doctors should weigh you at visits, and that's what the insurance company wants, a sheet from a chart with the date, your name, and your weight. Come to think of it, I didn't give my doctor a detailed weight history. I was supposed to but I neglected it (not on purpose, I'm a mom and have so much to do). evilah - Lower Body Lift Fun!
