I am contemplating sleeve or Duodenal switch surgery and have read somewhere that one can develop gastroparesis with weight loss surgery if the vagus nerve gets injured . Have any of you developed gastroparesis post sleeve surgery?

Hi all, I'm contemplating whether to have the gastric sleeve or duodenal switch. I am 5'2-3 with just over 150 lbs to lose. I have heard that the sleeve is wonderful but that folks struggle with maintenance so many folks wind up revising their surgery to a DS. I would love to hear your experiences and what to look for in a doc and the size of the sleeve itself. Does sleeve size matter as far as results and complications? Any and all input is greatly appreciated. I'm in the Durham NC area, if you know of a great sleeve doc with lots of experience, please let me know. Thank you so much!

Hi all, I suffer from sensitivities to chemicals like perfume, paints, cleansers etc and am wondering if anyone else out there suffers from this and has had sleeve surgery. I am wondering if the sleeve surgery made it worse or better. Any input would be so appreciated. MCG

Thanks Wink. I was thinking about using Dr. Sudan. Have you heard anything about him. I know that he is able to perform pretty much any surgery-even the duodenal switch.

Hi all, I'm from the Durham NC area and am wondering which doctor you used for your sleeve, how recovery went, and how are you doing thus far? If at all possible can you tell me what size sleeve you had and if you have had any complications as well. I'm about 160 pounds overweight and I'm wondering if the sleeve can get me to goal and if I will be able to stay there. What has been your experience? I don't know how to respond to individuals on here..NeNeh...When did you have your sleeve surgery with Dr. Sudan, do you know what size sleeve he uses and how has weight loss been so far-if that's too personal a question I understand.

What made many of you choose Dr. Yoo from Duke instead of Dr. Sudan or Dr. Torquotti or anyone else for that matter? Just curious. I am contemplating either the sleeve or DS. I know Dr. Sudan is the only one that performs the DS but is there a surgeon that is considered the best in the sleeve procedure? Trying to get as many facts as possible. I would also love to hear all of your experiences with the sleeve and why you chose it over other surgeries. Any input would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, MCG

Has anyone been sleeved at duke? I'm curious as to why you chose Tyner over Docs at Duke. Trying to figure out who the best MD is for this procedure
