  1. No HIPAA laws were violated here. She was not involved in care of patient. She can speak of her sister's experience even if it bothers others. That's the right of free speech.
  2. I went by myself to Mexico. Do your research. I chose C. Juarez with Dr Rodriguez. He's done over 10,000 surgeries.. Experience is everything.
  3. Thanks for the inspiration!!!! You look fabulous. I am sure you feel good. my sleeve was 11/23. I don't see much difference at all but I feel I'm moving better . Strange ? Please take care of yourself.
  4. Thank you for this great advice to this thread. I was sleeved 11/23. I am learning what I can tolerate now. I can barely get the carton of cottage cheese down. I drink warm tea on the morning and that helps. My spasms are rare, thankfully. I do feel some hunger pains mainly when I forget my Protein shakes. I've Tried a few soft foods too soon and my body lets me know it. That nauseous feeling and lump in the throat is awful !! Slow advancement is the key.
  5. There is no follow up in the states. You do a leak test before you are discharged and you are started on fluids before you leave. I chose him because of his experience. The nursing staff left much to be desired and I'm speaking as a physician. I would take a family member with me if I were to do it again. I had to be my own advocate. If Tijuana is close, you can Always go back if problems occur.
  6. The number of varied posts and the original post with UNCLEAR history and dates highlight why this is NOT the proper forum for this serious discussion... This is a weight loss site. . This really is a pro choice/ pro life discussion. Talk to your doctors, counseling centers, close friends... Did you really expect different responses from members, essentially strangers of unknown religions and values of this site ? I assume You posted as a grown woman. You have to be able to Take the responses as a grown woman. Take care of yourself.
  7. I went back to one week after surgery because did not have time to stay Off longer . My job is cut throat. We get only 3 days a year. I really wish I had 2 weeks off although I had no issues at work. I just was sore after 3 hours of work and exhausted when I got home. Each person is different. Take 2 weeks if you can. You deserve it.
  8. I was sleeved 11/23. I cannot say enough good things about the surgical team and the anesthesiologist. The floor nursing left Something to be desired. Most were good. Some were very poor and spoke zero English. There was always one on shift who could communicate with you. All in all, I would do it again. Dr Rodriguez has years of experience. I would recommend the surgical team to anyone.
  9. Such an inspiration !!!!!!!! Thank you Congratulations! You look fabulous.
  10. Lux, I appreciate you sharing this. I wish you the best. I am happy you are taking liquids now. Sunkist has a tube of Protein that has 46 protein grams. You can add it to the Water. It is sold at GNC. They also have protein puddings. . I get sleeved 11/23. I also appreciate all of the advice given to you.
  11. I am happy you are with people who care. Praying for you. Do a blood test to check hematocrit.
  12. Congrats ! You look wonderful. How do you feel?
  13. How wonderful ! I remember how hard your journey was. How could I add you as a friend ? I'm excited to see the pictures.
  14. I am on 11/23. I am scheduled with Dr Rodriguez. I start my preop a week beforehand.
  15. I'm with Dr Rodriguez in Mexico 11/23. He's 6800. Beliteweight.com arranges it. I chose him because he's done over 10,000 surgeries and quite well know in the field. I spoke with recent patient , who is also a nurse. I'm excited. He is more than otters but you cannot put a price on this.
  16. You look Fabulous!!!! I feel the energy coming out of the picture. You are an inspiration .
  17. God Bless you and us as we travel this journey. I am still nervous about my surgery 11/23. It is in Mexico adding to my anxiety.
  18. I'm sorry for your experience and happy you are doing better. What advice do you have for others to avoid similar experience with a band ? Do you think better counseling, Strict eating habits could prevent some from having same experience ?
  19. I'm scheduled for 11/23. I'm going to stock the house with supplies first. Has only one used baby food? I know it sounds weird but it is soft in consistency.
  20. That is very good, reassuring news. Thank you !
  21. Make sure that your cell phone is international. Bring some sort of hand held device- iPod, kindle fire etc to surf. Remember you are getting this to live a longer life to be a healthier Mother for your son.
  22. Red Sox girl, I sincerely hope you are doing better. Please update us. I appreciate all of the responses. I am scheduled for 11/23. I will make sure that I'm stocked with protein drinks and low cal and regular Gatorade.
  23. I prayed about this and surgery had been on my heart for some time. Often when challenges arise, I wake up with an answer to them. You have to have faith in anything that you do. God wants us to prosper and bless others. Obesity is a complicated illness that can lead to untimely death and multiple health problems. I want to live a better life. This surgery can help me do that. All of the steps have fallen into place easily, time off. reservations, tickets etc. I will continue to pray before my surgery scheduled in November to hear God's answer. I am nervous but I will walk toward this surgery with my faith in God and the surgery team he had planned for me.....
