  1. I have been trying new things that are high in protein. I actually like Greek yogurt but I'm having a hard time with cottage cheese. I can eat it but i don't enjoy it ( which is fine I'll still eat it for the protein). Does anyone have any suggestions on how to prepare cottage cheese to taste a lil better? What protien foods do you eat that is low in volume but high in protien other than the obvious such as meat? Thanks in advance, I know my taste may change but I'm trying to get an idea of mean sources of protien.
  2. I totally agree with you. I don't really care what people think of me, never have. I am just in shock that people have such strong feeling about this surgery. It seems like boob and nose jobs are no big deal but you let someone do something that will save their life then you better watch out. Things like this will not discourage me, I'll still do what I need to do for me. I was interested to see if this was a common thing that people deal with, glad to see you guys haven't experienced things like this.
  3. I do not personally know anyone who has had the sleeve but i do know a girl who had bypass about 2 1/2 years ago. I talk to her a lot about her experiences & ask her advice. Today we were talking, she told me to prepare myself for some very negative people after the surgery. She has experienced this from people she never expected would treat her this way. She did not tell many people about her surgery, one of her friends found out a couple of weeks after the fact and confronted her about it. She told her that it was true she had the surgery. The friend preceded to tell her how wrong this was and she had "went against God". First of all, why do people take it upon themselves to judge others about anything. Secondly, I have read my bible & never remember the passage thy shall not have weight loss surgery. With all that said, Post op sleevers have you had this issue? I have a tough skin & I can let things go in one ear & out the other but I would like to prepare myself for this if it is common.
  4. @ muffintop, First off if I have quoted you without a response I'm sorry me & my phone have been fighting for the last 30 minutes so I could respond......anyway, I'm going through this to expect I let everyone at work know from the get go. I work with mostly women who have nothing better to do then talk about each other so I figured if they were going to talk anyway I would just show them it didn't bother me. With this approach the gossip has not been to bad but its still happening. I posted this on facebook a couple days ago so they could see it " people only gossip about people when they are threaten by. So if you are being gossiped about congrats on whatever success you are experiencing that has upset the gossipers in your life" passive aggressive I know but it's the truth some people do not like to see other people exceed & do better than them. You are taking charge of your life & they may envy that. Keep your head high. Don't expect others to understand your journey, they've never had to walk your path (I love this saying, & thinks it's appropriate here)
  5. Unfortunately some people are going to talk about you, it's just what they do. If it wasn't this it be something else. It's sad that they are that dissatisfied with themselves that they fill the need to run their mouths about others. You are strong & on a way to a healthier you so let them talk. I've told people before it's ok if you talk about me cause at least I know your discussing an interesting topic.
  6. My eating is out of control today & I pretty much hate myself for it. How can I justify this when my surgery is getting closer. I think subconsciously I'm thinking my pre-op diet starts on 10/15. I can't have food for 2 weeks so I might as well live it up while I can. Is this normal? On the bright side I was worrying about losing enough to disqualify myself. If I keep this up that won't be a problem. Hopefully I'll get up with a different aditude tomorrow.
  7. Hi simplybirdie, I know exactly what you mean. I'm nervous & excited to. I didn't realize all the emotions this could involve. Good luck to you as well. I will say a lil prayer for both of us.
  8. Susan 2.0, I will be getting my Flu shot for sure before I go into the hospital im scheduled for 10/29 so I'm getting my flu shot on the 12th of October. Hospitals are the perfect place to catch things, you have the flu for a week before you start to show symptoms so any of those 100's of people patient or staff could sneeze at just the right moment & there you go you've been exposed. I get mine every year, I've had no problems. If you decide to get it just make sure you get it at least 2 weeks before it takes 2 weeks for the vaccine to be fully effective.
  9. I'm 32 single with no children & live in Kingsport,Tn. I'm scheduled for 10/29 @ the UT Medical Center in Knoxville. I'm on a rollercoster of emotions, didn't realize that would be an issue. I also have pcos & have been a nurse for 11 years.
  10. Thanks y'all. I just got a little nervous when I seen that number this morning. I guess I'll be increasing my calories.
  11. I weighted today & I'm 1 pound away from losing 40 lbs pre-op which is awesome don't get me wrong but I still have some time until my surgery date & 20 lbs to lose to disqualify myself for surgery. I have lost this much before just to gain it all back. I'm worried that I will lose to much weight during my 2 week pre op diet (which is still just a little under a month from now) and not be able to have the surgery. The thought has crossed my mind just to go eat out & take care of the problem but I think that would be counter productive & I will start old habits I have tried very hard to brake the last several months. My question to everyone is this how crazy is it i want to keep weight on so I can have surgery? I'm just so tired of this battle with my weight, I've been on a diet since I was 10 years old.
