  1. I'll have to try the shots. I'm still working on my chicken broth that was both lunch and dinner (reheated 3x-starting to curdle-gross!). Isopure-hideous. Shake-I'm not enjoying vanilla, afraid chocolate will give me even more gass! I wish I could have Greek yogurt. I've seen some people post being on full liquid as soon as two days post-op. So jealous! Hopefully this will only be until Tuesday when I see my surgeon for ost-op visit. Thanks for tips!
  2. OMG, boy I needed a chuckle! You poor thing! How've you been since getting home? I'm a liitle better today and stopes pain meds -making me hyper. But it's hard getting fluids with protein in. Tiny sips of stuff all day and I'm only getting in about 20-30 gms. I don't feel hungry but the belching is getting ridiculous!
  3. Was released from hospital a day early. I have not sleep more than 2 hours at a time since Wed. 10/10. So much gas pain-shoulders, back & even my neck, at times. I'm walking and being a little active at least every 90 minutes for a half hour. Last night I finally stopped taking prescribed pain meds. realizing they were making me hyper (Percocette), switched to Tylnol fast release which seemed to help more than the Perc. lus I finally slept most of the night. My worst pain besides gass, is my right side! I've noticed most people are saying their left sides hurt. Weird! Every protein bev. I've tried since surgery tastes gross- Vanilla shake w/water-tolerable, but yucky. Broth tastes good but adds more gas so I have to suck on a GasX as I sip. Isopure-OMG! I thought grape was bad (had in hospital), hubby brought me mango flavored today--whoever invented this flavor...'rusted old metal tomato can' is what they should have named it! Unjury unflavored whey protein in jello-totally separated - looked too gross to try! And i followed the recipe and used a thermometer for water temp! Help! What is everyone else drinking on clear stage getting in 60 grams of protein? I've been lucky to get almost 40. (Oh, the tummy gurgling is non-stop. I feel so bloaty and gross!) They should give everyone a t-shirt that says 'burp' on the front and 'excuse me' on the back! So tired of excusing myself every second (when ppl. are around only, of course!) 
  4. My surgeon is Dr. Ahmad at JT Mather Hospital, at his Bariatric center (which has awards for excellence). maybe they don't pump as much air inside when you dont need hernia surgery, maybe Mecico has better pain meds after surgery. Don't know. Thank God you all can get back home safe and sound! I just thought about what if everyone felt like this -how can they physically do it! Thanks for your replies! Education beats ignorance any day!
  5. Sleeve surgery on 10/11/12- released on Friday (a day early). The 50 minute car ride home from hospital was torture! By the time I got in my house I was hysterically crying-so much pain! I'm wondering how people travel home from another country no less right after this surgery! I also had hiatal hernia repaired -maybe that accounts for some extra pain/gass but seriously, if I had to go to an airport, train or whatever to get home, I wouldn't have made it! Also, complications post-op... who do you see? I can't imagine another Bariatric surgeon wanting to take over 'after' the fact when there could be surgery related complications! Very intrigued!
  6. Magic words... Kept off half.
  7. I don't know about men- the injection elevates an existing female harmone. Not sure what would happen if men took it.
  8. I'm a newbie and would also like a buddy. Surgery on 10/11/12 and I'm so uncomfortable. I keep getting myself upset thinking something is wrong with me! Non-stop belching is exhausting! Could the whey protein be reacting differently since the operation? I've been in really good spirits-lost over 20 lbs. on Pre-op, but the hiatal hernia was fixed with sleeve and now I really feel awful!
  9. I heard this was the "bridal diet" of 2012! Wow! I know someone who went on the HGH diet. Self injections of a harmone that tricks your body into thinking you are pregnant, while eating about 400 cals. a day. Sure, she lost 25 lbs. really fast, but it's slowly but surely finding it's way back. These seem to be "vanity diets" targeting women who want tolise weight, but don't nec. need to.
  10. I'm on day 3 post-op and the gas/burping is unbelievable! Everything I try to drink gives me more air and gass! Vanilla shake w/ H2O, broths and apple juice w/H2O. I'm trying to get my protein in but the gass is really getting to me. I'm taking a prescribed med for stomach accid and eating GasX chewables-nothing is helping. I'm walking around the house-hurts to stand up straight still-not ready to be outin the world. I try to move my arms and legs while resting to get it out. How much longer (burp...scuse me!)???
  11. I'm a little guilty if over-sharing about my surgery! If people really care about me-theyre happy for me and have been praying for me (DOS 10/11/12). I too yo-yo foisted my entire adult life. Once my aunt, who was very under-weight her whole life and has since passed, said to me after losing my usual 50ish pounds on whatever diet (I think it was WW-been on them all!) "Oh Holly, you'll never be skinny! Just accept yourself!" in front of allmy cousins etc. Meanwhile I looked and was feeling great! That statement hurt more than she would ever know. Yes, of course I did gain the weight back and then some, but I feel like she planted a seed in my sub-conscious where I too lost faith in myself. I'm sleeved. I'm proud. And I will be "skinny" (trim and healthy is my goal, but that's a 'back at ya' to my Aunt Pat (rest in peace!). The truth will always set you free! Peace!
  12. I had my sleeve 2 days ago and I was really frieking out once I was 7 days from surgery! I had to sit with my boss (Elem. School principal, I'm one if her secretaries) and exlain my Pre-op diet and why I was so edgy. She was totally understanding. I'm home and pretty uncomfortable (hiatal hernia surgery at same time) the gass is horrendous and moving and walking is the only way to get it out. Read some threads about "most embarrassing moments" or "last straw". You'll find you are not alone re: breaking lawn chairs and airplane seat belts that don't fit-funny and universal whenever I think this is too hard, I imagine how it would feel to step onto an elevator and every old boy/girlfriend you ever had was on it. What would they think when they saw you? OMG she looks great or WOW she's huge. That helps me get through, even tho it matters most how I feel about myself, the social aspect of my obesity is real and I will no longer lie to myself sayingit doesn't matter what anyone thinks -then why did I stop going to events and functions because of my weight- what to wear, etc. because I was ashamed. Niw that's the past, my new life started yesterday! Peace!
  13. Thanks Skittle! When you read posts that sleevers say they have no pain, returned to work in less than a week, etc. I feel like there must be something wrong with me! At least your post addressed my concerns about work and feeling better 2nd week. This sounds more realistic to me w/ the way I feel now. Peace!
  14. I have 5 "holes" and my hernia was larger than my surgeon thought Pre-op. I was released a day early, surgery Thurs. morning. I'm in a lot of pain - it hurts to cough, forget sneezing (OMG!) I'm supposed to return to work on 10/22- the way I feel right now is that's impossible! Please someone tell me how much longer for the intense pain! Percocette takes the edge off, but I'm still so uncomfortable!
  15. Thanks for the info about GasX-DOS 10/11/12- so much gas pain. I asked the discharge nurse if I should tale GasX and she said sure-strips or chewable, so I've been sucking on those horrid things (vanilla flavor-so chalky!) while sipping my shake and it doesnt seem to help. Walking and moving is the only way I can make the gas escape. So tired though. Hardly slept more than 3 hours at a time since Thurs. Lots of pain from hernia surgery at same time.
  16. You are so little! What size were you at start and what was your weight? How long did it take?
  17. I hear you guys, totally! My surgery is in about 3 hours ! (ahhhhh!) last week I was crying, snippety toward my coworkers, a beast toward my daughters and a b---h to my wonderful hubby! No one could escape my wrath!! I think it's stress, diet, fear and anxiety - all fighting with our heart and soul which is saying, THIS is happening, I DO deserve it, and it WILL work!! We've spent our lives, at least I have, pleasing others putting ourselves last -it goes against who we are to focus on ourselves so intently. But focus we shall and with the grace and love of God we can and will achieve our dreams! Back if Satan- I've got this!!! Amen!!!
  18. How's all my fellow 10/11/12-ers doing? I'm excited more than worried, now. I drank citric of magnesium and only water between now and 12M. I have to be at hospital at 6am- happy so nice and early! the sooner the show is on the road, the better, already! Mybiggest concern is the CPAP machine for sleep apnea- I hated wearing it during my sleepstudy! I also am having 2 hernias repaired that I didn't know about! Looking forward to being onthe losers bench and never seeing the numbers I now see on the scale ever again! Good luck everyone, sweet dreams!
  19. Sounds like you're doing great! I pray for everyone post-op this week- swift healing and happy losing! I go tomorrow....time flew this past week! Sooo excited (and scared!)
  20. Good luck to my fellow Oct. 10, 11 and 12th-ers! It's great to see so many positive posts about surgery this week! God bless you all with continued pain-free (or controlled, at least!) recovery! 1 more day for me- Thurs. 10/11/12. I have to drink the magnesium citrus drink as soon as I get home from work tomorrow. Does it makes you sick? I don't have much food in me, shave no idea what it'll do...scared!
