I also get to take them for two weeks after. My package came with a dvd that made the process pretty clear. I dont have much feeling in my belly so I trust that I'll make it through.

Thanks, that's something that I didn't think about. My deductible is $500, my out of pocket is $3000, so now I'm down to $2500. With whatever else is yet to be billed, it might come down to $1500-$2000. Even that is going to be a stretch. What have others done to find the funds?

My insurance covers 80% of the surgery. I'm scratching my head as to how to come up with the rest. Does the hospital bill you for the rest or does the doctor expect it before the surgery? I haven't been on here very long, do you see many people like this person here? I just reread and saw I quoted the wrong post. I meant the person that the quote was responding to. Stupid phone!

I agree that if this one is not supportive and is condescending, why continue to go to her. There's many doctors our there, find one that supports your vision.

I had a similar experience with UHC, they said that it was extra requirements that my employer put on. I wonder if its a choice that UHC gives to employers to lower their costs? I was never able to get it through. Now 7 years later, 30 lbs heavier, & with blue cross, I'm trying again. I hope that they've gotten better at approving during appeal. Good luck!

I'm hoping for a Nov date, have my labs done Oct 5, meet with surgeon on Oct 16, insurance then gets submitted. I'm hearing good things about the timing with my ins company, so I'm hoping for early-mid Nov. I'm in So Cal.

Giving up caffeine is my biggest worry. I've decided no more coffee, sodas and energy drinks starting tomorrow, but I'll keep tea. I like the suggestion to work in decaf tea. I'll give up the tea Nov 1. I had no coffee today, so I guess I've already started.

I started one in my local area, if you dont see one that works, maybe you can start one around your locality!

That's so encouraging that you found out so fast. I've heard that they're fast if everything's in order, but nothing like seeing other people's experiences.

That's so exciting! I hope that mine will be in November too. I meet with the NUT tomorrow, got my tests scheduled, and have the final meeting with the surgeon on Oct 5. Then it's waiting on the insurance to give the green light. I feel the same as you, being close to the "cutoff" BMI, that's the biggest comment that I get, that I'm not THAT big, blah, blah, blah. No one else lives my life or knows my journey. Good luck to you, the time will be here before you know it!

I also love my CPAP! I've had mine for 9 years and cant imagine that I'll give it up, even after the surgery. I had a pretty quick adjustment period and I attribute a lot of it to the medical supply technician. He spent a long time trying various masks on me so I could find the most comfortable one. I took it off mid-night for just a night or two, then I was totally with the program. It's traveled all over with me and it's the one piece that I wont let airport personnel take away from me, except to go through the scanner. I've tried several masks since then to find one that's comfortable and doesn't leave dents in my face, but that's my only complaint. I also find that it helps me fall asleep quicker. I don't know if it's the pressure or what, but I put the mask on and I'm out almost right away. All I can say to anyone getting used to it is to have the technician check again to make sure you've got the best mask for you and to be patient. Maybe try it when you don't have to go to work the next day.

I have a large one on my stomach, it's grown with me so I hope it will shrink too . I've thought about if I have to have plastics what it will do to this one. It was my first and most special to me.

I've had my CPAP for years and cant imagine a world without it. The machine is like a quiet fan. As the others have said, if the mask gets unseated, it'll wake you, but much better than the constant waking from the apnea. It's also quite the conversation piece when I stay overnight at friend's house.
