  1. Yeah, I think it might be the rice.. I was told not to attempt rice for a long time. My SIL is over a year out from surgery and she still can't have rice without pain. I hope you feel better really soon.
  2. LOL.. I love it! I'm using a similar spoon myself at 2 weeks out. :-)
  3. I had my c-section 20 years ago and I had my VSG 2 weeks ago. I think the pain during recovery is similar. My c-section wasn't bad. The incision was sore, of course, but not really bad and I bounced back pretty quick. The VSG was similar. The incisions were sore (still are a little, but not bad at all) but I didn't need pain meds after the second day. The fact that I couldn't drink or eat much was different.. that part is hard to get used to but, as far as the pain, it is similar I think.
  4. When I was on liquids pre-op, there was a family gathering at my dad's house. There were a lot of foods I couldn't have, but there were some options that I could enjoy! My brother made chili... tastes like Wendy's chili... I strained it and drank the soup from it.. it was delicious. My dad made chicken soup and I strained it too. My cousin made creamy chicken noodle soup and I strained it too and had some good creamy chicken soup. Maybe you can do something similar?
  5. I don't think that one day will matter. :-D
  6. I don't see how anyone could physically eat a footlong sub immediately after this surgery. I am 10 days post op and can't even finish an ounce of scrambled eggs. There's just nowhere for it to go... it baffles me.
  7. I don't know how they could even want those things at that point. I know I didn't want anything like that.. I was barely sipping my water.
  8. This website has some great ideas http://theworldaccordingtoeggface.blogspot.ca/2007/08/pureed-foods.html
  9. I went out shopping about 3 or 4 days after surgery... I think it is a good idea... just don't touch anything and if you do, use hand sanitizer.
  10. I have Anthem BCBS and there was no supervised diet requirement. :-)
  11. I think I ate all of what I wanted pre-op because I knew it would be a long time before I could enjoy them again and there is no guarantee how our sleeves will respond to certain foods so, I didn't know how long it would be before I could enjoy my favorite foods again... and have the freedom of eating however much I wanted, etc. I was just promoted to pureed foods today and I'm so excited... and glad I took advantage of eating all those yummy foods to my heart's content during the approval stage. LOL
  12. Please believe me when I say.. chatting and flirting and cybersex with other guys is not the answer. I did that during my first marriage.. you start off thinking it won't hurt anything because you don't know the guy.. it's impersonal... but it gets personal real quick... and my marriage ended because of it. So, please don't succumb to that temptation. Sex toys, skype with your hubby... but keep it focused on him. You look great, by the way.
  13. I did the same thing.... I ate everything I wanted and could think of wanting while in the insurance approval stage.... I agree that it's probably not the smartest thing to do, but I didn't gain any weight... and now that I was sleeved a week ago and I'm on full liquids.. haven't had a bite of real food in weeks, I'm glad I had my food funerals. I'd hate to have deprived myself even longer! I say enjoy it while you can.. LOL (Just don't gain lots of weight!)
  14. I was told to drink a 1 oz medicine cup of water every 15 minutes... and to take 3 sips to empty it... so you could practice that now if you want. Just fill that medicine cup up with water and take a small sip, swallow, wait a second or two (I was waiting several seconds right after surgery) then take another small sip... and then another... That's how small the sips need to be right after surgery... but it gets a little better pretty fast... I'm a week out now and I still sip but I don't have to think about it as much as I did at first.
  15. LOL... Usually I overlook typos, but I really didn't understand! LOL That is hilarious! I feel the same way...My surgery is the same day as yours, by the way. :-)
  16. Maybe I misunderstood, but...why do you have a rope? Also, my doctor told me not to get gummy vitamins, only the chewables... but I guess every doctor is different.
  17. I think we have one! I've not been involved in it, but I saw the link further down on the board.. Here it is http://www.verticalsleevetalk.com/forum/80-the-clothing-exchange/
  18. I still come here every day and read, but I mostly hang out at the obesity help board.. it is much more positive there.
  19. I like to get chicken noodle Soup and strain all the noodles and chicken out of it and drink that. It tastes a lot better than just broth to me. I'm on clear/full liquids, so I also have creamed Soups. I really like the cream of chicken soup. I add half a cup of 1% milk and half a cup of Water to it and some pepper... strain out the pieces of chicken and I drink it.. it is very filling and soothing when you can't actually eat anything. I do have 2 or 3 Protein shakes every day... depending on how close I am to reaching my protein goal. My surgeon wants me to have no lower than 80 grams of protein per day. At first it was hard but this is day 4 (I only have to do it for a week) and it is much easier now... I hardly even crave food now... although sometimes when I am cooking for the family, I want something because it smells so good, but I haven't cheated. Hang in there... if you can have full liquids, get some creamed soups.. it will help a lot. My doctor said to avoid cream of potato... only have it sparingly because of the starch in it... I did have some of that the other day and it was good, but I still prefer the chicken and it has more protein in it too... the milk adds a little protein as well.
  20. You may be like my sister. She doesn't have fatty tissue in her breasts. She has muscular tissue and she says they are firm and they don't get bigger or sag or anything. I never knew this until recently... I have fatty tissue in mine, for sure.. And they are saggy... I really really hope to have implants after I lose weight. (I'm pre-surgery)
  21. I will be having surgery on January 23, 2013! I have to go to a seminar and final testing on January 15. Then one week liquid diet before surgery... I think I should do two weeks though because I really ate badly during the holidays... Anyway, anybody else having surgery on the 23rd? And any advice on the liquid diet?
  22. I know what you mean! Waiting is so hard, and the closer you get to surgery, the more nervous you get.. I'm excited and nervous and tired of waiting all at the same time! LOL
  23. I just called the insurance... I was approved today! :-) I'm gonna call the surgeons office now! Yay!
