  1. Since I couldn't experience Thanksgiving today with my family, I took some turkey and threw it in the food processor and mixed it with some gravy and froze it for when I could have purees. I also wrapped up a piece of stuffing and a little gravy for when I hit soft foods. I figure I could put the gravy on it to make it a little mushier, and still be able to of had some thanksgiving food.
  2. I just ordered unjury chicken broth and I took one scoop and I can't stand it. If anyone is interested in this please let me know with an offer. I will let you know how much shipping is because I get it through my job, it will be a lot cheaper for you. Thanks!
  3. I'm having a bad day today. I couldn't get any protein in other than chicken broth. I tried the unjury chicken broth and just couldn't stomach it. I'm so wipped out and i have no energy. I feel a little loopy. Good news is there is no fever or pain, except a little in my incisions.Hope tomorrow is better.
  4. I've been doing pretty good with my diet, although getting the protein in is hard. Today I only did one protein drink and ended up with 38 grams of protein so far so hoping to atleast get my second in somehow....i'm trying to convince my brain that i do not need real food, so i keep chewing on ice. It is driving me mad that all I can have goes right down, no chewing involved. Soon enough I'll be at my mushy stage so atleast that has a little more consistency.
  5. finally found a flavor i can tolerate out of my samples..nectar chocolate truffle with skim milk, it tastes just like chocolate milk and I'm not having any trouble with it as it goes down.
  6. promised myself I wouldn't weigh myself, but I saw the scale and gave in. I lost 5 pounds pre op and now lost 6lbs since my surgery Thursday. I entered the hospital at 255, left at 257 and now I'm at 249 and I cannot be any happier with my decision. The pain is so worth it!
  7. Having so much trouble stomaching these protein shakes...yuck! I don't know how I'm going to be able to drink these for 2 weeks.
  8. I was wondering if anyone had a list of foods for each stage or if there is a topic started already. I'm only on my liquid stage, but was wondering what are some good ideas for the mushy/pureed stage, soft food stage and so on. If anyone can help me out I'd really appreciate it.
  9. Anyone have any tips for sleeping? I'm not a back sleeper, so Im having a ton of trouble my first night home. I woke up with a ton of back pain so now I'm on the recliner feeling a little better. I'm thinking maybe I'll just sleep here for a few nights, but how did you sleep in bed?
  10. Congrats on the 22lbs that's amazing! Your like the perfect role model for all of us! Thank you for all the insightful information.
  11. Just checking in again. Hopefully I'll be going home tomorrow. Just started getting my 4 oz down an hour, and have been walking the halls every chance I get. I noticed when I drink something cold my poor sleeve cramps up a little so I'm trying to stick with room temperature liquids. All my nurses have been fabulous and I'm happy that I'm on a bariatric wing.
  12. So I'm 15 hours post op. When I was first waking up I was in a lot of pain and I was nauseas. Now I'm mostly just sore. Getting up to use the bathroom hasn't been to bad, just reaching to wipe can be a little tough. Theyve been giving me torotal sp? To reduce the swelling. I haven't asked for any pain meds. I do keep waking up on and off, but I guess that's expected. I haven't been able to get up and walk other than to the bathroom because I can't stay awake and don't have too much energy yet. I have a pillow on my stomach that really helps with the coughs. I wish I could be a little more independent when I need something but in time. Around 2pm ill go for my leak test and then will hopefully be able to get something down because my mouth is so dry!
  13. Sitting on my gurney waiting! So excited!
  14. Just got my time, tomorrow at 12 ahh!
  15. I go for surgery on Thursday and I'm super nervous! I just found out I have a fibrous bone lesion on my pelvic bone. I had a problem with a rare blood disorder when I was younger that caused the same type of problem, but I refuse to push back my surgery because I have met my out of pocket and would rather have the surgery for free then worry about how I'd pay for it next year after I figured out what they are gonna do with my pelvic bone. My family is not supporting my decision, although my fiance is. My mother was supposed to be at my surgery, but now she can't because she wants to save her personal days to go with me to visit the hematologist after surgery. I am so grateful that my fiance and best friend will be there with me, but it won't be the same as having my mom there. I just hope everything works out perfect so no one could say I told you so.
  16. I go on the 15th with Dr.Ewing
  17. My only instruction is to make sure I clean out my belly button and no eating after midnight
  18. Just ordered mine on amazon thanks everyone! Now onto the task of finding a protein shake I can tolerate that is not extremely expensive.
  19. Are the blender bottles worth it for protein shakes? I'm having my surgery on November 15th and I'm wondering if this would be worth it to buy.
  20. can anyone tell me about their pre op diet? I don't need one but I want to do one and I start 2 weeks from today...
  21. Just wanted to say stay safe to all my fellow jersey folks! Hope sandy doesn't do too much damage in your area!
  22. I just got my medical clearance today from my pcp. I'm so excited I can't wait for November 15th to come!
