  1. I can relate. When I look at photos of myself I can't see a huge difference. My husband says there is a points out stuff. I think it is just our mind set, we are so used to seeing ourselves big.
  2. When I went in for my first fill we found that my port had flipped. Since the revision I have had only one fill and I had to go back two days later to have half of the fill taken out. I have been in twice since then and they have recommended that I don't get a fill because I was doing so well. It really depends on your restriction and your progress with your weight loss. I am very happy with my results as I have lost 103 pounds since June 1st.
  3. Dr. Sasse was my surgeon also. He doesn't do the fills a nurse does. I saw him once after my surgery for the follow up and now I see a nurse.
  4. It took me almost 6 months to lose 100.
  5. Add me to the group also. I was banded June 1st and reached my 100 pound goal on January 31st. Now I am on to my next big goal!!!
  6. I wanted to let everyone know that I made my first major goal. As of this morning I have lost 100 pounds. These last two months have been hard for me and I am just so happy to be at this point now. Hopefully when I go to the doctor in February I can get a fill with no problems.
  7. Hey everyone, I just wanted to check in and give an update. I have been stuck in my weight loss. Since 12/28/07 I have only lost 5 pounds. I work out at least 6 days a week and I think I eat good. I can eat more than most of you say you can but it still isn't very much. I was hoping to be at 100 pounds lost by the new year but that didn't happen. I am trying to stay positive but this is very discouraging to me. In December when I went for a fill the nurse said she wanted to wait 6 more weeks because of the problem with my last fill and having to get half of it removed. I don't want to wait longer because I am not losing!
  8. I make sure that the jerky is pretty tender and I chew it really good. I can eat shredded beef also but I haven't tried a steak yet.
  9. When I snack I eat beef jerky, protein bars or soy nuts. Nothing bad. I do exercise too. I haven't stopped losing I just seemed to have slowed down some. I guess I will worry about it when I actually stop losing. BigBaby you are looking great! My bandiversary was December 1st so I will try to find some pictures to post.
  10. I have to ask you all a question. My doctor has been telling me that I need to eat about 5 small meals a day or at the very least I need to eat 3 small meals and 2 snacks in between. When I started doing that I feel like I eat all day and my weight loss has seemed to slow down. Do you all eat in between meals? If so, what are you eating?
  11. Thank you all for the congrats! It helps to hear that from people.
  12. I had a fill on Wednesday and that night had a shake for dinner. I had about 6 oz and was very full even when I woke up today. I had chicken broth for lunch and for dinner had more soup. I have a weird pain by my should and chest. It feels like it did after I had my surgery with a hernia repair. My question is will this tight restriction pass or will it get worse?
  13. I have a question for those of you who have been banded already. I had my first fill at the doctors office on Wednesday and the nurse said that i had to be on liquids for about 3 days as I was walking out. After the liquids do I have to go to mushies and then solids? I would appreciate any help.
  14. I am very happy so I thought I would share with you all. I went in for my first fill since my port revision in September. I am down 75 pounds! I was also excited that they found my port okay and did the fill with no problems. I hope the fill works because since I have been working out so much I feel like I am always hungry and can eat more than 1/2 cup to 1 cup.
  15. <p> I tried to do crunches also by they make my port area hurt too. I was doing Tae Boe (don't know correct spelling) after my surgery but I think that is what pulled my port out of place. Since I had my port revision in September I am scared to do any abdominal work. Just exercise in general makes my port area feel like it is tighter and a little sore. I would love some suggestions also.
  16. I have a question for all of you who have had fills. I just got my first one a month ago because my port needed to be fixed. When I went for my follow up after surgery last week I asked the doctor how much he put in and he said "probably 1 cc". I will have to call the office and see what size band I have and exactly how much it is filled. My question is normally I think I can eat more than all of you say you eat. Now when I work out I feel hungry all day, like nothing will satify me. Does anyone else have that issue?
  17. I was banded June 1st and had to have my gall bladder out on September 7th. I was kind of mad at the doctor because I asked him to look at my gall bladder when he did the first surgery. By the time Setember came around I ended up in the E.R. because of the gall bladder. I can't see how it would have gotten so bad in a couple months, it had to have been bad before.
  18. I had a fill on the 7th but I don't have much resrtiction. I go in on the 9th and I will ask how much they put in. They did it during my port replacement surgery so I have no idea how much they did we talked about doing a small amount because I was doing so good without any fills before that. Should I get more or wait until I stop losing? I don't know what to do. It seems like I can still eat too much.
  19. I am starting to finally feel restriction. It is great to feel something now since I had my surgery June 1st and just now got a fill. When then fixed my port they did a slight fill at the same time. I don't know how much though because I don't see the doctor for 4 weeks.
  20. Finally starting to feel better since my port revision and gall bladder removal on Friday. I am not recovering from this surgery like I did from the original lap band surgery. The doctor was supposed to do a fill but I don't feel any different, then again I am not really hungry now either. I am hoping that this is it for a while and I can work on getting healthy.
  21. Hello everyone. On Friday I go in for surgery again to have my port fixed, my first fill and my gallbaldder removed. I hope this will be it for a while, I am ready to get on with everything. I have been reading all the postings and you guys are doing great. I will check in after surgery to let you all know how it went.
  22. Well, after about two weeks of being very sick I ended up in the ER. Turns out I had a stomache virus and my gall bladder needs to be removed. I really don't want surgery again but I guess I have to. I will have my port fixed at the same time so that I can have my first fill also. I am kind of mad at the doctor because I asked him if they checked the gall bladder when they put the band in and he said he would, but I find that hard to believe.
  23. I need to call the office to set a date for the port fix. I just have not been feeling well so I didn't get aroung to it. I need to find out if my insurance will cover it, if I need authorization again and so on. I will check everything out on Monday. I am feeling a little better today. I think I just caught a nasty stomach virus.
  24. I just got back from the doctor and found out that my post flipped, it wasn't just tilted like the nurse thought. My doctor says I have to have surgery to correct it. I am feeling very down right now. I didn't want problems so soon, or even at all. To top it off I was vomiting for about 10 straight hours on this week and am scared that my band slipped. I asked the doctor about that too and he just kind of strugged and said it should be okay. I might ask for an upper gi before I get the port fixed just to ease my mind.
