jules58 reacted to scaredoftheunknown in Why Oh Why?I will very honest with you. I haven't been following the plan. It was almost like okay I want to eat this cause who knows when I'll get to eat this again. I heard this is one of the biggest mistakes one can make. But I have decided to go back on track and I am hoping that by the 4th I have lost at least 3 if not all the weight I gained. I was going to go back to they gym but I feel so tired and sick (cold). I am hoping that I feel somewhat better tomorrow and at least hit the treadmill for a bit. Better than nothing, right?

jules58 reacted to Ms skinniness in Surgery Is Now Only Hours AwayYep, there is a lot of anxiety going on right before the surgery. It's the unknown and the catastrophizing we to in our heads. Do something different and keep yourself busy. You will do great tomorrow and when you wake up, you will not feel a thing because you will have pain meds (like a morphine pump) that will keep you comfortable. You will most likely sleep most of the day and night away and before you know it, you will be on your way home with your sleeve! CONGRATS and here's to a speedy recovery!

jules58 reacted to upenzi in I Just Want To Cry And Scream!I'm sorry to hear that. It sucks when things are in someone elses hands and they aren't handing it off appropiately. Have you checked to see if there's someone else at the doctor's office handing the case files while she's out? -

jules58 reacted to chilihot59 in Dr. OzDid anyone see his show today? He discussed the benefits and positive impact Bariatric surgery can have on secondary medical conditions brought by obesity. Although, they only discussed the bypass and the immediate improvement it has on Type 2 diabetes, I felt it was a step in the right direction. I, wish the sleeve had been discussed, maybe because there is not as much longterm data regarding the benefits, it wasn't addressed. However, Dr. Oz is a supporter of Bariatric Surgery as a beneficial tool to fight obesity. He and the other doctors he had on the show, made a point of emphasizing that surgery is not an easy way out option, because of the the lifelong committment the individual has to make to a lifestyle change. They hope that more training will be provided in nutrition in medical schools and that PMD's will learn more about Bariatric surgical options and not be hesitant to refer their patients if they are suffering from other serious health issues secondary to obesity.

jules58 reacted to Ms skinniness in Diabetics That Have Had A Sleeve?I healed quickly with no complications with the surgery. My blood sugar is great and I'm on no meds for anything so far.
-
jules58 reacted to CelticHarpist in Diabetics That Have Had A Sleeve?Mine healed fine. If you are having issues with healing prior to surgery from other abrasions or cuts with your healing then I would suggest telling your surgeon ahead of time. I have never had trouble with wound-healing, and I didn't post surgery either.
The nice thing is pre-surgery I was on a diabetic medication that cost $500-600 every three months or close to $200 monthly. I emerged from surgery with my blood-sugars under control daily. Mostly I run 102-105 blood sugars every day since surgery (lowest 92-94, highest 115-117). I am off any medications. Now that I am starting more exercise, I will monitor for low blood sugars!
Hoping things go well for you.
