  1. dar1983, Its funny to read about the things that many of us go through, but the sad reality is that these difficulties really hurt us. It feels good to actually laugh at myself instead of feeling sorry for myself.
  2. gelen's_change, I don't even have a date yet, but the Doc told me that whenever I finish my Psych Eval, My EDG, and if I finish my last 2 group meetings that I am getting sleeved in November. My husband loves me at my current weight, but I think he says I look good just to make me feel good. I thank him, but I've been wearing this fat-suit for 4 years too long.... I hope you get yours in November too!
  3. I can't wait until I don't have to hide from people because the fear of the looks on their face. I can't wait until stretch material is not my material of choice. I can't wait to stop wearing jackets or sweaters to cover my big arms or the rolls on my back. I'm tired of having a dent on my side of the mattress... I just want to be normal and not make excuses for my size... November can't come quick enough!
  4. Hello Allsmiles45, I was in the same boat as you just 2 months ago, but now I'm on my way. I'm not sure where your getting your procedure done at, but I will be getting mine done at Naval Hospital Jacksonville through Tricare Prime. It seems like your almost there
  5. clk, Thank you for the information! I never thought about trying to get it done at another military hospital. I will look around.....
  6. Hi Tara! Do you know the dates and times for the support groups? Is it every 3rd Thursday of each month? Thank you in advance! Monika
  7. Thanks Tara! I'm going to show up Thursday at the meeting, Who should I look for? Do you all wait outside first? I really appreciate all the help I'm getting this late!
  8. Thanks! Does the group coordinator report how many meetings you have been too? How does that work? Is it possible to jump around to different groups Mayport/Jax until I have 5 group meetings? Where is the Psych (at mental health)? Thanks! Monika
  9. Hello, I'm new to this site, but I am a Navy Vet who just got out in June and I have started the process of getting the sleeve. I'm currently going to the Ship-Shape class (its on week six now) at NAS JAX. My friend that I met at 2010's class told me to go ahead and do as much as I can before I have my appt at General Surgery. My appt with GS is on Friday and I'm a little confused as to what happens next. I have read what Smellbug has posted, which was very helpful, but is there anything that I could possibly do to speed a surgery up before December? The biggest issue that I have is that I have only been extended tricare-prime until 12-20-2012 and after that I'm on a reserves tricare which is totally different.
