  1. I spoke with the psych for maybe ten minutes, then took all the tests. My surgeon's office told me that it wasn't a pass or fail thing, so I guess it's really just to see how emotionally stable you are. It was not a big deal at all. A ton of the questions were like: Do you feel as though someone is out to get you? Have you ever wanted to physically harm yourself or someone else? One even said, If you were a news reporter, would you want to report crime? Just seemed like a little bit of a waste of time/money to me... but maybe it is helpful for some people.
  2. Whoops, forgot to put that I haven't had the surgery yet. But hoping to by mid-October.
  3. Good luck to you, PeaceLove&Tash!! Please let us know how everything goes! I'm new to the site and just submitted everything to my insurance company. How long did it take to get your approval from insurance?? Thanks!
  4. At my employer, it is one year of employment or 1150 hours. We have a STD bank that accumulates every pay check. 20 weeks at 40 hours a week would only be 800 hours... so I'm not sure where 20 weeks would come into play unless maybe PRN employees maybe? I'm only filing FMLA so that I can secure my job, and not have to use my PTO. Thank God I have it!!
  5. I'm 5'8" and 255 lbs. So that's pretty close.
  6. zebrasprinkles, congats on your pre approval!! How exciting!! I am still awaiting approval myself (just submitted to insurance 8/9/12.) What insurance company do you have? How long did it take from the date you submitted to insurance to the day you received the letter from them??
  7. This thread has really Enlightened me. I am still awaiting insurance approval, but I have faith that I will be approved. Once I do have surgery, I hope that I will WANT TO work out. I think I will have the drive to do it daily so that I will look and FEEL better. I sure hope and pray that I will be the 80% and not the 20%.... ugh that would be a nightmare. 4ALongerLife, you are a role model to me!! I hope that I have the drive that you do. You are doing fabulous!!!!
  8. I know EXACTLY how you feel!!!
  9. Thanks so much for your response! I appreciate the prayers as well! What are the requirements in Canada??
  10. Hi xiola511, I'm brand new to the site as well. So like you, I have a ton of questions. I just submitted all my documents to insurance today!! I'm praying for a fast approval! If approved, I'm hoping to be scheduled by mid October. Keeping my fingers crossed...
  11. Today is the day that all of my medical records, letter of recommendation from my PCP, and psych eval were sent to Blue Cross. I'm praying for an approval!! The insurance specialists at the hospital that I hope to have my surgery at said we have to give them at least thirty days to make a decision. I sure hope it doesn't take them that long... Seems to me that once they look over all the files, it should be a pretty cut and dry decision. But, whatever lol How long did it take everyone to hear back from their insurance companies, specifically BCBS of TN? Once you were approved, how long did it take to get a surgery date with your surgeon? I'm brand new to this site, so any help/advice/encouragement is greatly appreciated! If my insurance doesn't approve my surgery, then I am thinking about going to Mexico (to save money.) Any thoughts on that?! My best friend thought I had lost my mind when I told her that today lol! Thanks for listening! Katie
