  1. Less than a year ago I could not even consider walking 1 mile. Just yesterday I finished my second 5K and I was able to finish it in less than 27 minutes! Here is a before picture last year at 324 Lbs: Here is the picture at the finishline yesterday at 173 Lbs: My next goal is to do a 10K under 1 Hour! Good luck to all of you starting a running program and stick to it before you know it you will be running your first 5K.

I just finished my second 5K in 26:52!

Thank you. You time will go down. The first one you worry so much about the pace and being able to finish that you tend to slow down. You will see that the second one will be easier.

Don't be. I was nervous on the first one since I didn't know what to expect but after you finish it you feel motivated to do it again.

  7. Hello everyone. I just wanted to share an update after surgery on Aug 8th. So far I have lost 103 Lbs. Friday my Dr. told me that I've set a new record for weight lost with his patients and that at this pace I should reach my goal before the end of the year! Started at 324 lbs. and of this morning I weight 221 lbs. My goal is 180 lbs. The lab results, after 2 months, show that all my numbers are back to normal. I no longer have a fatty liver which I was told that would turn into cirrhosis if I didn't take care of it. High blood pressure is gone and cholesterol levels back to normal. In regards to clothes, went from 46 pants to 36 and neck from 20 1/2 to 17. I wanted to share in case you were on the fence about getting the surgery. Do it! The best decision I've ever made. I feel great and feel like I got my life back. It was tough during the pre-op diet and 2 weeks after surgery but after that it gets better! Please reach to me if you have any questions. This forum helped me so much making the decision to have surgery and prepare for it. Good luck. 3 months ago (324 Lbs.) Last week (225 Lbs)

    9-Weeks Post-Op Update!

Thanks. I heard great things about Rosenthal. 73 lbs. is amazing. Good job!
  9. Hello Community! I normally don't post at forums. I either, never find the time or I am always on the run. However, I felt the need to post my experience because comming to this forum and reading all the posts, helped me so much throught the process so I want to share my experiece so far. Everything started six months ago when I learned that I needed the 6-month weight in process for insurance approval. For those of you felling disapointed for the wait, dont worry,it will past fast, so enjoy your six months!. During the process I learned that I suffered form sleep apnea, That, added to my fatty liver and a BMI of 45 (324 Lbs, 5'11''), helped with Insurance approval the first time. Procedure was approved on July 25th 2012 and scheduled with Dr. Whitwell for August 8th. Due to the quick turn around I had to start the liquid diet inmeditely and to be honest this has been the toughest part so far. Making the transition from eating anything I wanted to just liquids was really though, especially the headaches and temptations. Surgery went well, for the next 2 days I felt horrible, I had sore muscles. I was not in a lot of pain but very unconfortable. My appettite was gone. On the 3rd day I was released form the hospital and Saturday and Sunday was very unconfortable with gas pains, soreness and the incisions hurt a lot especially while coughing or moving too much while sleeping. But Monday I started feeling much better and today I just walked the dog for 30 minutes. I know it is just the beginning but I feel so good already that I wanted to share my experience, My apetite is gone and I feel full after just a few spoons of broth (hard to beleive). If you are doutbting yourself about the surgery, don't. I was there, I was at this forum the night before the surgery reading all kind of posts and the support was amazing! So far I have lost 38 pounds and I am looking forward to where can I start exercising so I can start a running program! It is amazing how a few months ago I was depressed without a clear goal in my life. I felt that I just gave up on myself. Now I look at life in a different way and I feel great about how my wife and kids are so happy about my change! Thanks and good luck with your journey!
  10. It's surreal! After 7 months waiting it is hard to believe the day is here. I went out buying last minute stuff for the hospital and I still feel like I am forgetting something. What is funny is that my kids (teens), that normally avoid going out to the store with me, now want to go with me everywhere. I guess they are worry. Good luck tomorrow to all of you.
  11. Mine is on Aug 8th. Getting very anxious, can barely sleep. Lost 15 lbs. so far in pre op diet.
