African American Sleevers
Well this is a free country so I wouldn't say a word, but FYI In reference to your question the reason there are institutions such as colleges, groups, clubs for people of African ancestry is because at the time black people wanted an education; they were unable to attain this by just walking into any college, they risked being hung, shot at, sprayed with water hoses, you name it, you could also google the University of Alabama where several students were jeered and called things I dare not mention, James Hood and Vivian Malone in 1963 were apart of this group, the first group of African Americans allowed to enroll at the University of Alabama, which was an all white institution at the time.... Most black colleges were established after the civil war, there were also some established before. These colleges are called HBCU's or Historically Black Colleges and Universities. There is racial diversity at HBCU's here is a quote from wikipedia: Racial diversity at HBCUs As colleges work harder to maintain enrollment levels and because of increased racial harmony and the low cost of tuition, the percentage of non-African American enrollment has tended to climb. The following table highlights HBCUs with high non-African American enrollments: there was a chart here that showed European American enrollment you can google HBCU's to see the chart on wikipedia. and there's: Other HBCUs with relatively high non-African American student populations The following list illustrates the percentage of white(Caucasian) student populations currently attending historically black colleges and universities according to statistical profiles compiled by the US News and World Report Best Colleges 2011 edition: Langston University 12%; Shaw University 12%; Tennessee State University 12%; University of Maryland Eastern Shore 12%; North Carolina University 10%. The U.S. News and World Reports statistical profiles indicate that several other HBCUs have relatively significant percentages of non-African American student populations consisting of Asian, Hispanic, International and white American I do not feel this group was started with the intent to be racist, nor any college. I am sorry you are offended by this, and hope you will research this more.

YES!! I almost cried when I had to change it. My husband's job needed more notice for FMLA so he can take off a few days. This will be like forever for me LOL.

How The Hell Do You Drink Isopure?
LOL muddy puke!!! I like the chocolate muscle milk, the alpine punch was the one I tried and I declare I was drinking a glass of fruity dryer lint! LOL I hope I find another flavor I like before surgery, so far chocolate is safe for me.

How The Hell Do You Drink Isopure?
I'm lactose intolerant too, I haven't had my surgery yet, but I am on a pre op diet and isopure made my tongue feel like it had on a sweater...Muscle Milk gives me the horrible lactose intolerant symptoms, but I found it won't bother me if I take 2 chewable Lactaid tablets while I'm drinking it. I like the chocolate the best, the vanilla and the strawberry are nasty to me.

- Scheduled Dates For Sept
Hello every one! I was scheduled for August 30th, but now I'm a September sleever. It's now for Sept. 27, 2012. I was a little hurt that I had to change it but hey, it's all good, more time to prepare- Hallelujah!
Isn't he just awesome! Congrats!!!!!- Call Your Insurance Company Yourself!
Honestly, I didn't call back regularly at first, the insurance coordinator called me once a week or every two weeks, to check my progress on clearances, I admittedly procrastinated at first because there was a very stressful situation going on at the time. She continued to call and one time she asked me was I still interested in the surgery. I told her yes and finally started to do everything this year, I ended up having to meet with my surgeon again as well because it had been so long. Anyway, I did call the insurance company when I was still looking for a doctor and had them explain to me what was covered and what I would have to pay as well as what was required. A few people I know who had wls too were telling me I had to do 6 months of dieting before but I had to keep telling them no I don't because I already called the insurance company twice and I already know! Because of my high bmi, the 6 month requirement is waived. I haven't had any problems so far, just astronomical co-pays. The office and staff have been really helpful in helping me with insurance. I have BCBS too.Still keep on top of it and follow up, and sometimes it's sad but the office staff will chase away patients, I've left some pretty nice doctors because of crappy staff, now I'm not suggesting you do this, but just keep it in mind just in case. Sorry for the mini novel LOL- Who Is Your Surgeon?
I haven't be sleeved yet either, but my surgeon is Dr. Gary Katz and the hospital my surgery is scheduled for is St. John Providence in Southfield.- High Bmi
my BMI is 69-70? and all my doc required was that I try to lose 30lbs before, so I could shrink my liver a little bit to make surgery easier.- Any Sleeve Buddies From Michigan?
Hello everyone! I'm in the Auburn Hills area and my surgery is scheduled for August 30th at St John's Providence in Southfield. I'm on my pre-op diet again...LOL this is day number two and I've been good so far, I'm really looking forward to this! *edit* my sleeve has been rescheduled to Sept. 27 because of my husband's fmla approval. I really wanted it sooner, but I will just use this time to continue losing the 30lbs I need to lose before surgery.- Time Of The Month During Your Surgery?
Well I'm glad I found this thread! Mine started yesterday so hopefully, it won't start again until September 5, mine are usually like clockwork, but extremely heavy and crampy. My surgery is scheduled for August 30th. I hope aunt Flow doesn't decide to visit early, I planned my date just so I wouldn't have to deal with very bad cramps ,and heavy bleeding.- Restaurant Booth Nsv (Pic)
LOL I have nightmares about those chairs, and turnstiles too. Yay! I'm happy for you, I can;t wait to get to where you are, being able to fit in a booth is definitely a milestone!!- Hey August Sleevers! Put Me On Your List! Aaahroo!
Hello every one! My prayers go out to everyone getting sleeved this month, or already sleeved! My date is scheduled for August 30, I'm so excited! I start my pre-op diet again today, I had started a few wks ago but, I had not got a date or finished clearances yet. Now its crunch time gotta lose 30lbs, I can't wait! It's time to go get it!- African American Sleevers
Hi! I'm scheduled for 8/30! I can totally relate with the exercise, I agree, it could be some depression. I hate the way my body feels and looks so I avoid exercise like the plague. My thing is video games, and I can easily sit here 6 hours playing, if its something interesting. What's really sad with me is there is a small workout facility here in my apartment, a pool, and a YMCA down the street...after my sleeve I will have no reason not to go every single day. Keeping you in my prayers! Don't worry, You'll feel like moving soon!- African American Sleevers
Thank you! and God Bless you! I'm so excited, the nurse called me today and my surgery is scheduled for August 30th! I will make sure of this though, because I have a seminar to attend on the 13th where I do paper work and schedule another appointment for my labs and everything. I'm so looking forward to this, and thanking the Lord in advance that NEXT summer I WILL be at or almost to my goal weight. I can't wait to enjoy my family and start running, jumping rope, and teaching my girls how to roller skate, I miss that so much.- African American Sleevers
Thank you so much, I needed that. My thoughts have been going a mile a minute mainly about being put to sleep. I had two cesarians to compare major surgery to, but I was awake for those. I know the Lord will keep me, but keep me in your prayers! Still waiting on the nurse to call me. I think I will call them today. Praying for you too!!- African American Sleevers
LOL yep! I dream I'm shopping for new clothes because all of mine are too big! Or I'll have some really cute heels on. The best to you as well! I feel like a kid on Christmas!- African American Sleevers
I got all of my clearances done!!! Finished up my psyc eval and I'm just waiting now on my date...I'm so nervous and excited at the same time. - Scheduled Dates For Sept
