Annoyed with waiting
I'm one who doesn't mind bugging people, so if my appointments were too far out i would call every day to check for any cancellations. Maybe it wouldn't hurt to try? People cancel appointments all the time so you never know if you could get in sooner.

sleep study
The sleep study put a stall on things for me as well. I called every day to check for any cancellations. Ended up paying off! If getting in is not an issue, I would just get it over with. For me personally I had to take equipment home and go back the next day to go over results.

My surgeon does no after-surgery leak tests, just during. He said if it's going to happen it's going to happen. He's only had one leak in the past three years and ~1,000 surgeries he's done at Kaiser. Not sure about his statistics of when he was out in Orange County though. No drain either. He wrote me a prescription that I am going to drop off two days before surgery since I guess that is how long it takes to mix them. One is liquid Zofran for nausea, one is a liquid antacid, and the last is a liquid painkiller. Can't remember the name of it though. Should only be an overnight stay in the hospital. I can't remember what the other questions were, but feel free to ask!

Who is in March?
I do a liquid diet the day before. I give you ladies MUCH credit for being on it for weeks! For the next week I am on a 1200 calorie diet.

Ahh! MY SURGERY IS NEXT WEEK! Wednesday the 5th. Exactly what I was hoping for! He had a cancellation. Every other appointment would've been up to 6 weeks, which would've kicked me out of the March club! Sooo I start a 1200 calorie diet starting tomorrow, and then the day before I will be on a liquid diet. I won't find out what time my surgery is until the night before. I am so. freaking. ready.

I've got my appointment today with the surgeon! I've got a list of questions, but does anyone maybe have any questions that I might've missed that you wish you had asked?

How's your new life?
Hi all, I'm 25 and having surgery next month and had a few questions: Your "new" life: Better or worse than expected? The same? How long was your recovery? What does a typical day look like for you?

Wow, sorry you're having such a hard time. Hopefully all of this will be a distant memory a week from now. I really appreciate everyone giving updates and not sugar-coating anything. And it always is reassuring to read that despite it all you are still glad you did it. Sending speedy recovery vibes your way.

Hooray! Have you been waiting long? In the long scheme of things yes, since last July. But as far as waiting for the call from the surgeon it took 11 days lol. But hey I've waited this long!

Who is in March?
Hi everyone, I find out next Tuesday when exactly in March my date is. I'm excited but nervous! Right now I am drinking the Premier Protein shakes from Costco. I haven't tried anything else tbh. I still need to stock up on chewable vitamins too. I've slowly weaned myself off of fast food and sweets, as well as soda. My body doesn't adjust well to cold-turkey!

Yep totally know how you feel. The initial referral for the surgery went in at the end of last July, and it's been a process ever since. I am so close yet so far right now... Just waiting for a call for an appointment with the surgeon and then after that they will schedule surgery. It doesn't feel real at all yet though. Probably won't feel real until I'm on the operating table lol. It's been a lot of thumb twiddling but I know it'll all be worth it in the end. Good luck!

I like to think as myself as excited, but when reality hits I get a little uneasy. How are you mentally preparing yourself? For some reason I am nervous about how I am going to handle the minutes and seconds before surgery. Like waiting in the OR for them to put me out. Idk why this is the thing my brain is dwelling on! Lol. I am almost hoping they put me out and THEN take me in to the OR. Wait, do they? Because that would be great xD

Surrogacy after sleeve?
I am still pre-op, should be having surgery next month, but always wanted to be a surrogate mother at some point in my life. Does anyone happen to know if having this kind of surgery would make it so I couldn't do this in the future? I know you have to have a healthy BMI to to surrogacy. Wasn't sure if it was considered a "risk" that they wouldn't allow me to do it. Thanks

I know it is normal but...
This really spoke to me. It really is about surrounding yourself with positive thoughts! Thanks for sharing

Thanks so much! Same to you. And nope, not yet. It's been quite the long process. But I am getting there! The next step is meeting with the surgeon, which will be sometime this month. Hoping for an early March surgery date! Nice! Where are you having surgery? So you must be right around St. Bernardine's. That's where mine's going to be. I am excited as well. SOOO very excited! Anyone have any dreams about the surgery at all? Oh man, I had the most REALISTIC dream last night. It felt so real. It was basically me laying on the operating table and them giving the anesthesia to knock me out, then before I knew it I "woke up" and the surgery was over and was a success. But the weird thing is that I "felt" the stomach pain in my dream. It was soo realistic. I've never had surgery before so I think it's just the unknown that kinda freaks me out! Not knowing how I will feel when I wake up... stuff like that.

February/March 2014 sleevers
I don't even have a date yet and I'm having a food funeral. Today I went on a junk food buying spree at the store, topped off with buying two boxes of Girl Scout cookies on the way out. Wth is wrong with me!? I don't even want it anymore. But it felt good to buy it for some reason *shrug*. I went to the support group Thursday evening, and I really enjoyed listening to the unbiased, real and heart-felt stories. Everyone had great progress but also sheared their struggles. I will definitely be going to those after surgery. Friday is my bariatrician appointment.. Fingers crossed that I get in with the surgeon soon after that. Work is going to be a problem, there are only two designers at my job, me being one of them, and the other one goes on maternity leave in April. My boss really needs me there by then. So needless to say I'm getting antsy.

Tall Women, Tell Me Your Story!
What was your starting weight? I am 5'9 and 150 seems so unrealistic to me! You must look amazing. I am going to ultimately go for 165 lbs. I am starting at 315 though...
