  1. You are giving me courage. I hoping not to lose so much darn hair this time. First time was vary traumatic.
  2. Admittedly I have been more sedentary than i ever was. Couple that with feeling awful from GERD and depressed about the weight gain, I have been spiraling for awhile now. My sleeve was very successful and I even if I only gain the benefit of my GERD being gone, it will be worth it. My doc doesn't want me on omeprazole any longer. You are only 8 days out of surgery...are you feeling ok? I assume you are still on liquids. Keep in touch.
  3. You will do great. The medical reasons are the most important but I won't lie... having another bite of the weight loss proverbial apple makes it a win/win. Keep in touch and let me know how you are doing with recovery. I will join you on Dec. 2nd. Take care.
  4. Wishing you both every success. I know it is easy to get down about a revision not working as well as the original but I dug into a bunch of scientific articles and most say the average person loses 10-15% less than the original weight loss surgery. I know when I had my gastric sleeve in 2012, I lost too much weight so I am hoping my revision to RNY just gets me within10 lbs of goal and helps my acid reflux. II'm having my revision 12/2/21 and keep you both in my thoughts.
  5. Dec. 2nd here! - although mine is a revision. The revision board seems to be kinda dead so thought I'd pipe in here. I hope everyone is uber successful!
  6. You should be so proud of yourself! You are an example on how to succeed. I hope you maintain and stay healthy and thank you for sharing! i will stay in touch and please post your progress. I'll look forward to reading your posts.
  7. Before I had my sleeve in late July of 2012 I was 199 lbs. By March of 2013, I was below 130 and I looked sickly. Kinda like a lollipop... my head seemed too big for my body. I do have pics - just ask. I hope you are healthy above all. I was happy when I regained and maintained in the 140-150 lb. range. Now I am doing a revision VSG to RNY and at a much higher re-gain weight (for many reasons). Be well.
  8. Hello all, Well this is 2nd bite at the apple. Here's my history... Sleeved on 07/27/2012 by Dr. Jaime Ramos-Kelly Before Pre-op Diet: 199 lbs (BMI 33.1) Weight Surgery Day: 188 lbs Sept. 1, 2012: 177 lbs. Oct. 1, 2012: 166 lbs. Nov. 1, 2012: 157 lbs. Dec. 1, 2012: 147 lbs. Jan. 1, 2013: 141 lbs. Feb. 1, 2013 138 lbs. (starting looking way too thin) Mar. 1, 2012 132 lbs. (between size 0-2) Horrible GERD/ Acid Reflux Infected gallbladder for most of 2015. Finally able to have removed in 08/2015 Maintained or gained 5-10 (138-148 lbs.) for about 4/5 years thru 2017 Back to pre-op weight of 199 lbs. by 2019/2020 Pandemic hit and now I am 230 lbs. before surgery (BMI 38.3) Scheduled for Sleeve to RNY: 12/2/2021 with same Dr. Ramos-Kelly in Tijuana, Mexico Looking for some kind souls that want to share the journey. Worried about how effective it is the 2nd time around. Looking forward to helping my GERD. The extra 30 lbs. means more months to reach goal. Oh yes and I am fretting about the hair loss. I did not enjoy that the first time around. If anyone has info they want to share, please do. Be well, Katrina
  9. Hello. I was going to be your revision buddy and I am so sorry you weren't able to have it done. I hope you are able to straighten it out and be back on track. Please look me up when you come back. Take good care. Katrina
  10. I am 9 days post op and also feeling really tired... we all know the reason but I am lucky to get in 2 Protein shakes and 40 oz. of liquid. But eating anything but watered down malt o meal is not even an option. I am so happy when people share their story years out. It puts these small road blocks into perspective!
  11. Echowits... I see Omar and Dr. Kelly in 4 days!! Good luck with everything and remember it's your body and your choice. I think your son will be too embarrassed to mention anything to anyone! Thank goodness my boys are 8 and 9 and think I am already a size "one".... if they only knew!!!! Katrina
  12. Sleeving July 27th in TJ with Dr. Kelly - will keep an eye out for you! Katrina
  13. I'll go first... As a divorcee who shares custody with my ex-hubby, I have found myself not wanting to meet in public places but rather just send the boys out to his car at the curb. My ex is 6'5" and 300 lbs so it's not like I have anything to prove and I am not any heavier than I was when we were married BUT he is about to marry his 3rd wife and she is thinner than I am - I have never met her only seen a picture. She is no beauty but I do find myself challenged that she is thinner than me. I know it's petty. I am usually pretty confident in most situations but I have had a wicked fantasy about being at goal weight and waltzing into a place dressed to the nine's. As I write this I feel like a high schooler but part of getting better is shining light on the dark corners and owning how one feels. So I would like to leave my ex drooling and his new wife in shock as I leave with holding hands with my two boys and their new 30 year old, model beautiful, built to high heaven step-daddy. There I've said it! PLEASE SHARE YOURS!! BTW Katrina - 5'5" 195# 44 yrs young Sleeve Date: July 27, 2012 GW: 135
  14. After I had my two boys, I had a breast augmentation and tummy tuck. I shared it with my friends and family. From that point forward whenever I would get a compliment - especially in front of my sister - she would be sure to let everyone know I had help from a plastic surgeon. My best friend likes to tell people the same thing swearing she would never stoop to such levels - well 5 years later she is trying to find the money to make it happen. I don't need to be the fodder for their own issues. I made this decision for me... not to impress anyone else. My kids deserve a healthy happy and content mom. I feel I must add that I've had a little fantasy about wearing something stunning in front of ex-husband and leaving him drooling.... that feels petty but I am only human K.
  15. Please add me to July 27th - I have no idea how to add myself... I must be a little dense Katrina
  16. So sorry for your loss - that can be a very difficult thing to do! Katrina
  17. Hey mrskincanon... I will be there the exact same time! I will look forward to meeting you. I am leaving the 26th from Chicago... Katrina

  19. I am being sleeved July 27th also... 9 days to go and getting VERY nervous. Hoping my sugar cravings don't ruin this wonderful tool I am being given! Katrina
  20. Hi Echowits! Please do let me know how it goes. I was hoping to be sleeved earlier that week but I was told he wasn't available... maybe he was just trying to control flow. I fly in the 26th and will be sleeping at the hospital that night. I will be sure to check on you! If you think of anything that you might need after you get there, just let me know and I will bring it to you. I'll look forward to keeping in touch! Katrina
  21. Thank you to all for making me feel so comfortable about choosing Dr. Kelly. I am being sleeved July 27th - along with two others - per Omar's email. Dr. Kelly is on vacation for a few days before so I hope he comes back nice and relaxed I will be sure to update everyone along the way. Take care. K.
  22. I'm with Dr. Kelly on July 27th.... sorry I will miss you. I am going alone as well. K.
  23. Hello All... I have not told a soul. I am going to Mexico while my boys are with their Dad out of town. I do worry that if something happens no one will know where I am. I am considering putting letters in my home in case the worse happens! I truly don't believe anything bad will happen but I would want my boys to know how much I loved them. It will be strange that friends will wonder what I've done differently... my plan is to say I am learning to control my portions. When I eat out with them, they will see that I am eating much less than normal. I have never mentioned surgery was even a consideration so I don't believe that is what people will expect. I am rooting for everyone to be safe and successful! I love hearing about all your trials and tribulations along the way! K.
