i just went for a small walk and now my right arm is killing me from the shoulder down. is this normal? im about 2 1/2 weeks post op. i shouldn't be worried about blood clots should i?

I have to check in at 11:15am. I have been on a clear liquid diet all day and had to drink a 10oz bottle of magnesium citrate*yuck* to "clear out my system". I'm so excited to start my new life!

I'm having surgery on thursday. I've lost about 10 pounds since June 16. not much since I've been on this stupid diet. kinda frustrating.

Well I had my endoscopy this morning. Piece of cake. I've been on this pre op diet since June 28th. I saw my surgeon last tuesday and haven't dropped any weight really since. I don't get it. I'm following this diet outline they gave me. I only cheated once last friday. I walk daily. And the scale doesn't move. I'm scared that I will get all ready for the surgery on Thursday and the surgeon gets in there and says that my liver hasn't shrunk at all. I have one more day of protein food packets then Wednesday is all clear liquids and a bottle of magnesium citrate (ugh). On another note, it's kind of irritating that they don't give you the time that you are suppose to be at the hospital til the day before. The hospital is an hour away so I'm trying to plan what to do with my son and my mom won't give me an answer if she is going to take me to the hospital or not because she doesn't know what time. It's just really frustrating. I pretty much just want to scream right now.

my mom knows. my lab partner at school knows because i'm missing class on thursday for surgery. and a few select friends know. my sister is taking my for my endoscopy tomorrow and i don't think she knows (unless my mom said something to her, but she hasn't mentioned anything to me and hasn't asked any questions as to why i need an endoscopy). after surgery, i plan on telling people what i did unless its people that im not really fond of, then ill just say "high protein, low carb, and exercise"

I know how you feel. I cheated for the first time yesterday and I want to kick myself. But I'm going to stick to it now til wednesday when I have to switch to all clear liquids. I have my endoscopy on monday and I think if I can make it through that ok then surgery on thursday should be no problem.

maybe it was just what i mixed it with. my pre op diet doesn't let me have any dairy. pretty much only Water and sugar free drinks. ill save the other packet and try it with something else probably after surgery. 6 more days. it can't come fast enough.

i tried the unflavored unjury yesterday. i got the sample pack thing and 2 packets of each flavor. i put the unflavored in a bottle of powerade zero and i thought i was going to vomit. even the smell made me nauseous. maybe i wasn't suppose to mix it with that? i don't know but it makes me never want to try it again.

i have been on the pre op diet since last thursday(6/28) and i have been wanting to cheat so bad. but i haven't. i just want to go to subway and get a turkey sub but i keep telling myself nooo way stick to the diet. my doc told me not to go and eat all of my favorite foods one last time so it sounded like a lot of people end up cheating but im trying really hard not to. i had to buy all these food/drink mixes that come in packets from my NUT so im not on a clear liquid diet but its still hard cuz they don't taste very good.

I am getting sleeved on the 12th. I met with my surgeon yesterday and he assured me that he would take care of me and that the pain would probably be minimal. He said I would only have a one night stay in the hospital. I felt very good after my visit with him. I'm anxious but so ready for the surgery to be over and start my new life.

thanks, I meet with my surgeon tomorrow. I think I'm gonna have to make a list of questions for him haha

How long are you not able to drive after surgery? I'm taking an accelerated anatomy and physiology class over the summer and its hard to make things up. I'm having surgery on the 12th which I'll miss lab on that day and the next tuesday would be the next time class meets and we have an exam. My class is about 45 mins away so I don't know if I will be able to drive since it will only be 5 days after surgery. Anybody have any insight?

Thanks guys, I see my surgeon on tuesday so I'll bring it up with him then. I did fill him in a bit the first time I met with him and I was taking an antidepressant called nortriptyline. It helped a little but made me gain tons of weight. And losing weight is more important to me. I can figure out my pain problem later.

I'm a bit nervous about this. I have gotten everything up to oxycodone and that had no effect on me. I have fibromyalgia and haven't found anything to help with the pain yet...

I have sleep apnea. Have for a couple years. I don't wear my mask. I should but don't have an updated rx to get new parts and can't get in to see that doc til september and I'll already have surgery before that. I have just been dealing with it. I take ambien at night because I can't fall asleep and wake up exhausted cuz I'm not getting the right sleep. My surgery is on the 12th so I'm hoping that the weight will come off somewhat fast so the apnea will slowly disappear.
