I'm a 26 Yr old single mom of a very energetic 5 yr old. I have always been heavy. I think kids first started making fun of me in 3rd grade. I was recently diagnosed with sleep apnea and even more recently I was diagnosed with fibromyalgia. I finally made the decision to have the surgery so that I can be the best mom to my son that I can be. I started my journey in December 2012. My progress was thrown off when I started a medication to help relieve some symptoms of the fibromyalgia and gained 20 lbs between December and February. After I stopped the taking the med, the weight finally started coming off however my doctor initially wanted me to lose 10 lbs and had gained 20 to my surgeon wanted me to lose the 20 I gained plus the 10 originally. So I have been working on it and it has been very difficult. I received a call from the surgery coordinator and she notified me that they were submitting my information to my insurance. That call was made to me on 6/19/2012. I received a letter from my insurance today (6/22/2012) that I was approved. I would assume that I will be hearing from the surgery coordinator on Monday to give me my surgery date which will be before 7/16/2012. So this will be a pretty fast process for me. Hoping that all goes well and I can start my journey to a new me.
